I think that there is some thread creation down on the bottom of 'PoliticalForum' that is specifically for debate. I know very few have gone there and I think that it's high time to explore this. I'm considered a liberal but personally I see nothing wrong with trying to get across to young children the difficulties African slaves faced in trying to escape from their would be owners here in America.As far as using an actual black child as the escapee,I don't see anything wrong with that either.To me it sounds like a motivated teacher trying to bring a touch of realism that might interest and motivate children.

I do not know much about this, but what is wrong with teaching black history on black history month? is that not the point?

that said, I am against things like roots being shown in grade school as I remember that day, and it did not have the intended impact - it made whites glad they were not black and blacks saying... WTH... that is too young....

they also showed us pictures of horribly deformed people from having sex, another bad move that never should of been shown to us as little children
