Once again, urban Democrats openly display their disdain for the right to keep and bear arms, which has caused a populist backlash among rural counties in New Mexico. If urban Democrats keep trying to export their urban gun control policies to the rest of the country, it's only a matter of time before a spark is lit. Those attempting to shove their authoritarian gun control policies down the throats of suburban and rural communities should tread lightly. You are playing with fire.
If there is a split between or within the States, it will be because of this issue. Urban Democrats are so desperate for total control, that they seem willing to risk the very "union" which makes their totalitarian fantasies possible.
The movement is growing in spite of the denial. That statement will morph into, "That pounding sensation in your anus isn't you getting screwed. You can trust us."
Democrat politicians are known liars. So if they deny being in favor of total control, it's because they're lying like they always do. Their actions tell a much different story, one that evinces a pathological need for control of virtually everything in our society, from education to healthcare to firearms. There is nothing, large or small, that escapes the notice of tyrannical Democrats.
That would be nice. I grew up in NM and love it but the Northern NM Democrats make me want to move. The new Gov and congress has given the Dems carte blanche to raise taxes like crazy, put in stupid gun control measures, and claim sanctuary status for illegals. Then she blows a fuse when the counties claim 2nd amendment sanctuary status saying that they have to obey the law. The fact that 30 of the 33 Sheriffs are against her stupid, unenforceable, gun laws hasn't phased them at all. They just keep stupiding right ahead. If Texas had our weather and mountains, I would move there in a heart beat.
Despite the idiocy of our new Democrat rulers (which will cause a backlash I predict) we have a pretty good gun state. Open carry, a really great Albuquerque city gun range (my idea of a city park), half the state is National Forest or BLM land open to recreational shooting and of course the 33,000 acre NRA Whittington Center near Raton. I love it when patriots open carry 'assault rifles' in to the capital in Santa Fe during gun hearings. Coming from Illinois I have nothing to complain about. You can have Texas weather.
Gotta love how when you point out the Democrats tendency to lie about every thing under the sun that pulls Trump into the conversation as a deflection tactic. We know Trump lies his ass off, but that's besides the point. This is about the pathological need for Democrats to control cradle to grave, and the lies they tell to get there like "If like you you can keep your doctor, period." Must we go on to document the vast library of lies Democrats have told?
It's a fact that Democrat politicians lie. Naturally, as a loyal Democrat, you will try to deny that fact.
Didn't you know? Anyone who criticizes Democrats must be a Trump supporter. There are no other possibilities. You're either a Republican or a Democrat. Anything else is just too dang complicated!
I had a letter published in our local New Mexico newspaper that may be of interest. "Many letter writers have correctly pointed out that the recently introduced house bills restricting firearm ownership are contrary to the 2nd Amendment of the U.S Constitution. But the wording of that amendment has been challenged many times, especially the reference to the militia. So I encourage everyone, especially our new Governor, to look closer to home and read the New Mexico Constitution, Article 2, Section 6, Right to Bear Arms. “No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms.” Even the most ardent liberal will have difficulty interpreting this part of the New Mexico Constitution in any other way than its actual intent, that of preventing government from infringing on the citizens right to keep and bear arms. When Ms. Lujan Grisham became our new Governor she swore an oath to “support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of this State”, so it’s reasonable to assume that she has read and understands the New Mexico Constitution. Yet one of Ms. Grisham’s first actions after becoming Governor was to betray the oath she swore."
If the state supports them so be it, because I do believe in state sovereignty. But counties and cities are not sovereign entities and thus do not have the "right" to ignore federal and state law. That leads to anarchy. While the state should take a light hand in local affairs it still must maintain its authority.
Thank you. There have been a whole lot of letters opposing this bill in the Albuquerque Journal. If it passes it needs to be challenged in court.
Trust me, and you can take it to the bank, people in those "urban centers" you are seemingly so afraid of could give a rat's ass what you people do with your toys out on the praire in New Mexico, have yourself a good ole shoot out or whatever one does at a gun sanctuary Except, when you come to one of those "urban centers" or " "urban center" State, leave your toys at home
So lowlifes on Central Ave. in Albuquerque and the South Valley from now on will submit to a background check when buying guns, right? Perhaps you can share evidence of where such policies have reduced crime. I can wait. I honestly doubt Bernalillo County (Albuquerque) is going to go out of their way to enforce this.
That's demonstrably false. The politicians in urban areas are obsessed with exporting their gun control to the rest of the country. They are constantly trying to ram through urban-style gun control at both the State and federal levels. So while you personally may not care, the people who claim to represent you absolutely do care. And if they're not careful, they could start a fight.
You mean gun huggers like the Founders, who authored the 2A for the purposes of protection against government tyranny? The reason background checks are offensive and won't be complied with is it gives the government a record of who has what, opening the door for a future tyrant's confiscation plans. Of course, I lost all my guns in a tragic boating accident.
Whew! I feel a lot safer knowing that criminals will now know that there are towns that are gun sanctuaries, what could be safer than that? Hell we ought to just make murder a crime then no one would commit such a horrible act.
