As is his custom as a daytime television star, Trump issued an emergency order grounding the 737 Max 8 and the 737 Max 9.

After FAA had already decided to do exactly that.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday grounded all Boeing 737 Max jets in the U.S., citing new evidence that showed similarities between two fatal crashes of the popular planes that have killed 346 people in less than five months.

The crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 on Sunday came less than five months after a Lion Air Boeing 737 Max 8 — the same type of plane — plunged into the Java Sea minutes into the flight from Jakarta, Indonesia, killing all 189 people on board. Both planes were new, delivered from Boeing just months before their doomed flights.

The FAA said the grounding will remain in effect while it investigates the crash.

New satellite data shows the plane’s movement was similar to the October crash, the FAA’s acting administrator Daniel Elwell told reporters on a call Wednesday. The agency also took physical evidence into account, but Elwell declined to elaborate.

“It became clear the track was very close and behaved similarly to the Lion Air flight,” Elwell told reporters on a call Wednesday. “My hope is the FAA, the carriers, the manufacturers and all parties will work very hard to make this grounding as short as possible so that these airplanes can get back up in the sky.”

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/13/boe...says-us-expected-to-ground-737-max-fleet.html

Passenger Mort Greenberg was waiting at the gate in Miami on American Airlines Flight 2809 when the news broke that President Trump was grounding all Boeing Max 8 planes.

He was scheduled to fly on a Max 8 plane. His flight, however, had already been canceled, according to American Airlines’ website. Within 5 minutes AA had sent him a notice of rebooking without having to ask.

    https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/boeing-737-max-8-ethiopia-airlines-crash/index.html

Trump issued an emergency order for an action already taken by the FAA. That sounds so much like Trump. He always has to be the center of attention even when a federal agency is simply doing its job.

The fool even admits talking to Boeing and the FAA before taking issuing the order.

"President Donald Trump said he spoke with Boeing’s CEO, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and the acting head of the Federal Aviation Administration, Daniel Elwell about the decision."

“They are all in agreement with the action," Trump said.

Of course, they were. That had already been decided.

Yesterday Trump warned Americans about flying.

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products. Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better. Split second decisions are....

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

....needed, and the complexity creates danger. All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!

I really can't believe this. How can Trump be so freaking stupid? He does not specify the Boeing 737 Max 8 or the two accidents involving the aircraft. No, the idiot condemns all flying as "too complex." In today's society, I can't think of anything more stupid. Why didn't he just tell Americans to vacation by car?

Oh, wait a minute, flying is far more safe than driving.

Can a President be impeached for sheer incompetence and stupidity?

Trump has done this before. As a matter of fact, if there is an important issue somewhere in the world, Trump will thrust himself into the middle of the matter because his narcissistic persona requires him to be at the center of any melodrama. Two identical aircraft crashing within five months of one another fits perfectly for him.

In March 2017, Trump received an envoy from Kim Jong Un's ally, the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in. Trump liked what he heard from Kim's ally and he immediately decided to meet with the North Korean dictator, something no other President had done for a multitude of reasons. Trump consulted no one before making this decision, not his SecState, not his NSA, and not his intelligence agencies. In fact he made the decision soon after his chat with the envoy.

Trump's decision was so abrupt, there was no one around to announce the decision. So, the envoy did it. South Korean national security adviser Chung Eui-yong told reporters of the decision after meeting with Trump at the White House. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...or-announcement-coming-north-korea/408781002/

Trump just had to get into the act.

Without preliminary agreements, without the involvement of the state department to any measurable degree, the lead diplomat at the Singapore summit, President Trump, experienced total failure.

Naturally, the self-centered Trump had to try again, this time in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Hanoi summit was another debacle and soon afterwards new photographs from commercial satellites showed activity at a variety of sites related to North Korea's space and missile programs. The North seemed to be preparing for a launch.

But, for a few weeks there, Trump was the center of attention.

He became the center of attention again in July of 2018, but for all the wrong reasons. Again without any preliminary agreements and little or no involvement of the state department, our lead diplomat met with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, a stone's throw from the northern border of Russia. Trump went to Putin, but that was only the beginning of the disaster. He met privately with Putin for two hours, and only interpreters were present. No one, not even Trump's SecState and NSA, knows what was said during those two hours.

    But Putin knows.

Then, to a world-wide television audience, Trump said he did not believe his intelligence agencies concerning Russian interference in our Presidential election. He believed Putin because he sounded sincere.

Obviously, Trump became the center of the world's attention ... again. His naiveté was on full display ... again.

Trump just can't help himself. He must get into the act.

I absolutely love this OP's topic.

    Options,
    1. Trump does not follow much of the world and continues to allow this plane to fly over US airspace.
The bitter, hate-filled, malcontent, alt-lefties start OP's complaining that President Trump has no concern for anyone and wants to kill all Americans.

    2. Trump bans the flights of the aircraft in question.
The bitter, hate-filled, malcontent, alt-lefties start OP's complaining that President Trump takes away all Americans rights to fly when and where they wish.

If one really tries hard they can drag N.Korea and the "Russians" into this ridiculous thread.

I enjoy going to PBS at 3 pm PST to watch their news program. I anger some there by complaining that PBS keeps acting like it works for the DNC. I swear to god they talk like Democrats here talk all the time. Some then inform me that the Democrats get it right. How so I ask? All you get from PBS is the Democrats view. They never pay attention to a thing said by the republicans.

Then here we get this mans talks to us. Daily trashing Trump. Does not matter what Trump does, it will get him trashed.

Trump does not ground the airplane. Gets him trashed.
Trump grounds them. Gets him trashed.

    Democrats have some strange ideas.

It was a good decision and the US was one of a few countries who had not already done so.

You libs are beyond pathetic. Do you ever stop and just look in the mirror and wonder just how you got this mentally ill? I'm not kidding, it's becoming sad. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of, but being a liberal is.

Actually this article counters your failed information.

The 737 Max Is Grounded, No Thanks to the F.A.A.

I will not call any of them liberals. They rush to create laws. A liberal is the last type of person to try to keep flooding this nation with laws.

What is the media bragging about? Pelosi is rushing to create more and more laws. She is a one woman law making machine.

Trouble is, when Bush was president, he kept begging the Democrats to make a law to change what FNMA and Freddie Mac were doing. He warned them it would crash the housing market.

So did Democrats change those laws? Get real. They kept the old laws that caused the crash.

Apparently not, but at least he can be voted out and left to the mercy of the prosecutors who will be coming after him for his criminal conduct and the judges and juries who will be deciding the cases. It would be nice to see him impeached for his criminal conduct also, but that is apparently far too much to expect of Congressional Republicans today.

In this case he was most likely correct. This aircraft was more dynamically unstable than most new aircraft and a computer was supposed to correct the problem. All indications are the computer malfunctioned and the aircraft became unable to to be controlled.

Sandy has done this before. As a matter of fact if, Trump does anything that Sandy’s handlers think could be twisted to appear negative to gullible Trump haters, they put Sandy into action. Because Sandy is narcissistically more knowledgeable than Trump on every issue he jumps right in and creates melodrama even where none existed.

Sandy heavily researches MSM headlines or irrelevant people’s twitter feeds,
and creates or corrupts context in ways that make Putin very happy. Weakening the US by attacking the duly elected President is the goal, as well as providing entertainment to some PF members.

Sandy is more than happy to do Putin’s bidding because it garners him some attention on the PF. He is unable to substantiate much because he doesn’t have practical knowledge of most subjects but any attention is good attention. He really just can’t help himself. He must get into the act.

The FAA and NTSB are responsible for air safety. The FAA decided to ground the 737's. Then Trump, wanting to get into the act, issued his emergency order.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday grounded all Boeing 737 Max jets in the U.S., citing new evidence that showed similarities between two fatal crashes of the popular planes that have killed 346 people in less than five months.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/13/boe...says-us-expected-to-ground-737-max-fleet.html

There are a few hundred news sites that say the same thing. Trump made a fool of himself again.

I read the article. It is an opinion piece, not a news story. I tossed it because the writer has a beef with the FAA. I relied instead on news reports from various sources.

"But it is a step that should have been taken directly by the federal agency responsible for aviation safety. That it came from the White House instead speaks to a profound crisis of public confidence in the F.A.A."

The biased writer of this article got that wrong. I know this from the various news reports. Read the OP.

From post #5 you can see Trump has a history of doing this very thing.

Filtering through all the B.S. of this post, you omitted one very important thing. What did I get wrong in the post you are replying to?

    That's because I didn't get anything wrong.
