What is to prevent him from seizing upon yet another self-serving crackpot fantasy, that tens of millions of non-existent people cost him the electoral college vote in 2020?

If Trump loses in 2020, but refuses to leave office, then a federal court has the authority to issue a court order to the US Marshall Service to remove him by force. But believe me, it won't come to that. Trump is a coward by nature. If he can't find a way to shield himself from any liability, he doesn't have the courage to try anything. And just because he refuses to leave office doesn't make him the President. The moment the winner is inaugurated in 2021, Trump loses all of his legal protections. The FBI and US Marshals can then seek warrants from federal courts giving them the authority to raid the white house, and remove Trump, and anyone else who no longer has the right to be there.

If Trump did try to stage a coup like this, he would be on his own. The Secret Service would likely abandon him. They have their careers and families to think of. He would likely try to bring in some of his militant supporters as protection, but let's see what a bunch of hicks and skinheads can do against a full on live fire raid from the FBI and US Marshals. It wouldn't be a big loss if federal agents were forced to shoot them all.

 

Actually, that would be quite entertaining, if it came to be. Trump would drive him nuts, and not lay a finger on him.
