Well, you have to admit my news links / excerpts are better than the shallow drivel nonsense passed off on PBS as news and used to brainwash Americans into docile, passive, sheeple.

Comments from a USAF F-16/F-35 pilot.

I recently met an F-16 pilot, shortly after one was shot down in the ME last year.

He was quite worried about Iran.

But I think things would go a little better with a few wings of F35's leading the charge.

Well that doesn't explain the F15 success in battle. That said, I do know something about command and control systems, Army mostly, but having the situation awareness (SA), is key to any battle.

Obama killed the F-22 because the F-22 was politically incorrect and our enemies in the future wouldn't be able to defeat the F-22.

It's a plane with a history of problems for sure. My understanding is that as of 12/2018 only 355 have been built. I would guess they either learn from the mistakes and move on or cancel the remaining orders.

    By Bloomberg
    January 24, 2018

"Efforts to improve the reliability of Lockheed Martin Corp.’s F-35 are “stagnant,” undercut by problems such as aircraft sitting idle over the last year awaiting spare parts from the contractor, according to the Pentagon’s testing office."

    -edit-

    "Spare Parts, Tires
Those issues include the increasing number of planes that are down awaiting spare parts, difficulties with the electro-optical targeting system and flaws in launching air-to-air missiles and GPS-guided air-to-ground munitions during weapons testing.

A final version of the plane’s complex software has gone through 31 variations and has yet to be deployed because of “key remaining deficiencies,” the report found. The troubles also include more mundane issues, such as tires on the Marine Corps version of the plane, the F-35B, that are proving less than durable.

The upcoming testing, “which provides the most credible means to predict combat performance, likely will not be completed until” December 2019, according to the testing office.

By the end of testing designed to demonstrate that the F-35 is operationally effective and suitable for its missions more than 600 aircraft already will have been built.

The Navy's "Operational" F-35C Is Fully Mission Capable Less Than Five Percent Of The Time

A stunning deficiency in readiness rates for Navy and Marine F-35s calls into question whether the stealth jets can fight a prolonged conflict.

    By Joseph Trevithick

    March 20, 2019

"Newly available data shows that less than 15 percent of the U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Joint Strike Fighters and around just two percent of the U.S. Navy's F-35Cs were fully mission capable at any given time, on average, for more than two years at least. The details come as the readiness rates for aviation fleets across both services have plummeted in recent years. It is also a clear indication that they will have a difficult time meeting the target of 80 percent mission capability rates for both aircraft by the end of the 2019 Fiscal Year that former Secretary of Defense James Mattis had mandated last year.

The Project on Government Oversight (POGO) first revealed the chronically abysmal mission capable rates for the F-35B and C models on Mar. 19, 2019, after obtaining official Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) data spanning from October 2016 to December 2018. The Navy only declared initial operational capability (IOC) with the F-35C, meant to reflect the service's establishment of its first operational unit, at the end of February 2019. However, the Marines had announced they had reached IOC with the F-35B back in July 2015. F-35Bs from the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron Two One One (VMFA-211) also recently wrapped up a deployment to the Horn of Africa and the Middle East that involved the first ever combat missions by American F-35s, with the planes eventually striking targets in Afghanistan and Iraq and Syria.

    -edit-

The data that POGO obtained on full mission capable F-35Bs and Cs, also commonly known as "Code One" aircraft, is truly striking. The average number of fully mission capable Marine F-35Bs, aircraft with all of their systems functional and capable of meeting all mission requirements, never rose above 25 percent in more than two years. In October 2017, it dipped to 12.9 percent and by the end of 2018 it was hovering somewhere around 12 to 13 percent.

    -edit-

    (summary)

If nothing else, the dismal full mission capable rates for the F-35B and C call into question the actual combat utility of either aircraft broadly, despite the former's recent operational outing and the latter's recent IOC milestone. The new data only adds to the long-standing questions about the exact capabilities of all three Joint Strike Fighter variants as they stand now.

But it hardly matters what their capabilities are on paper if just a tiny fraction of them are actually fully mission capable at any given time."

The F35 can carry a heck of a lot of guided bombs. Some more precise (and smaller) than jdams.

It gets those bombs, etc further, faster, and with lower signature.

Plus, it was far behind the battle front, gathering info for other F35's (each a mini-awacs)

and gen 4 aircraft still in harms way, but with a dedicated target, and firing solution right now.

That's besides the potential for drones.

This America has its priorities f__ked up.The F-35 is already a TRILLION DOLLARS in the hole and it doesn't even work yet ! . Why - so we can bomb starving people in Yemen, Pakistan, Palestine, after turning Iraq into a grave yard. (BTW is the running water and electricity on in Iraq for the Iraqi people yet, I bet it isn't on 24 hrs except at the 6 America embassies as big as football fields built by Fluor Daniel for 8 billion dollars.) Meanwhile, some egocentric yuppie dips__t wants an Apple Smartwatch for $2000 (while half of the United States goes to bed hungry every night) and he spends his money Golfing at a pricey country club and reads GQ magazine, reading about another egotist, Christine and the Queens star-trip who thinks shes Robert Plant cause she had one hit record, GQ like Playboy, a leftover rag from the 80s that should've been out of business 20 years ago, and the same $1000 I-Phone 10 pr__k is drinking Scotch thinking whether his Apple Smartwatch (it's cool with a little TV on it, like his new car-car dash) will interfere with his status symbol Rolex. We have created a nation of self absorbed, uppity, yuppie social media geeks who: voted for Bernie Sanders and his TRILLION DOLLAR F-35 that doesn't EVEN WORK YET, he's/ she' glad about legalized marijuana, he's so concerned w/ GREEN AWARENESS and identity politics. America has its priorities f__ked up beyond all repair, fake films Hollywood pro-war propaganda BS Mickey Mouse / Sesame Street news channels. But that's OK were going back to Outer Space b__ches!

To understand US military aircraft, you have to understand a lot of things.

Things like purchase parity, 5th generation aircraft, support craft, air supremacy, stealth, physics, jet engines, etc.

    These aircraft are game changers.

    Why would that bother you?

The Chinese will push the button in one manner or another
killing the electronics of the F-35 causing plane to destruct in flight

being unable to maintain proper trim, etc. :oldman:

At least the A-10 Warthog has a last resort cable/pulley system
when the hydraulics are blown out. Both of them.

You think you can demoralize protests with GOP talking points by Party Reptiles, and imperialist lackeys like those on TV?

And I suppose you're willing to "liberate"people from their own government, and all the civilians from their lives in Asia and the Middle East in the name of God and white bred America?

Why cause the fraudulent tea party says so?

What I mean is, you can't bury mass public sentiment against the F-35 with Elitist lies, and talking points.

And I'm not talking about phony, astroturf protest like we hear from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is the moronic equivalent of Sarah Palin, except she is a Demo-wit !

    You could be right.

The history of the Harrier was no barrel of monkeys, that's for sure. Kind of like the Osprey.

But still, America has a trillion dollars in what you describe, it sounds like a self landing Google plane, like the car.

Kinda scary if you think about it - all that code in the software.

    Thanks for the info.

I totally disagree the F-35 carries boatloads of weaponry like the other guy said.

"Freedom of Speech" in America, (and other myths to live by)

...During World War II, Paley served as director of radio operations of the Psychological Warfare branch in the Office of War Information at Allied Force Headquarters in London, where he held the rank of colonel. While based in England during the war, Paley came to know and befriend Edward R. Murrow, CBS's head of European news who expanded the news division's foreign coverage with a team of war correspondents later known as the Murrow Boys. In 1946, Paley promoted Frank Stanton to president of CBS. CBS expanded into TV and rode the post-World War II boom to surpass NBC, which had dominated radio."

Thats why we raise red flags when the media so obviously and intentionally censor pertinent facts about the collective mind blindness of much of the "progressive" left and "alternative" media. Such as the alledged victims in the Syria chemical attack never exhibited the well known symptoms catalogued in previously documented chemical weapons bombings - (e.g. the Iran-Iraq war, which the U.S. started when Saddam Hussien was our ally) - foaming at the mouth, heavy skin discoloration, massive seizures . It cannot be a coincidence when multiple major news stories are summarily debunked in many cases, the same afternoon or the next day they are presented by the Lamestream media. But still - we have supposed "anti-war" commentators like Tom Hartman and Mike Malloy providing left cover for the Democrats by excising certain facts from their broadcasts. And Tom Hartman and Mike Papantonio both exclaimed - along with Chris Hedges on the Ford Foundation funded Real News Network - that they had no doubt "Assad caused the chemical weapons attacks." Chris Hedges even played the "senior analyst" card insisting his experience in reporting abroad left "no doubt" of Assads guilt for Ghouta when confronted in the interview. To be sure, establishment lackeys on the Ford Foundations Real News Network also insisted that Assad held the majority of the blame for civillian deaths, as endless reports of bombings and killings by terrorists in Syria are routinely ignored. The regime change lobbys many mouthpieces found on Al Jazeera America and on the online English speaking Middle East version of the outlet were adept at using the "anonymous sources" and staged YouTube videos along with the universally debunked Syrian Observatory group who are astroturf fronts for U.S. imperialism. It serves a dual purpose - to protect the Democrat President Obama when videos surfaced on YouTube of U.S. special forces directing Al Queda attacks, pictured literally side by side with ISIS-FSA inside Syria, and a time years previous when establishment hacks in the media and govmnt were all denying these facts. Second, it protects President Obama from the same accusations of intentional war criminal abuses levelled by the Left at Republican leaders - lying America into another war, instead painting Obama as the unwilling dupe, spineless, ignorant, or a victim of circumstance, (Ray McGoverns view) rather than describe Obama in the same way as they do Bush, intentionally diabolical and evil - a fact which is the clear truth - and a characteristic of both parties as they drive ever closer to the goals of the New World Order. Mike Malloy even stated recently, for example, that for his entire life he thought that "one world government was a great idea." What a dope. And yet these so called "anti-war" progressives like Malloy and Hartman ask us to pay attention and listen to the same tired old Lamestream media sources they read from on the air - Al Jazeera, NBC, CNN, NYT, The Nation magazine, PBS, NPR, and CBS - the "progressive" radio hosts use the same regressive news outlets who lied us into this perpetual war on terror mess in the first place. The blogosphere writers who regularly take the Lamestream medias liars on and whip them on a year in and year out basis, essentially bankrupting and making TV news irrelevant are RARELY featured in these radio shows - why - is it because they are CENSORS FOR OLD MAN WHITEY? or COINTELPRO?

At a lifetime cost of a Trillion dollar service cost, I'm glad Pres. Trump opposed the F-35.

And you'll notice I didn't use PBS, NPR, Nation mag, foundation funded / Soros, Tides

the Elitism in America is undeniable in this country

    > Let's talk about a word the Pres. discussed in Michigan, Elites.
    ____________________________________________________

You know U.S. Conservative, you and I will never be on TV. That is, unlike most personages on TV whether Hollywood actors, news anchors, and upper class types like CNNs Anderson Cooper ( of the Gloria Vanderbilt family) we won't ever be on TV like George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston, Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Oprah, Tyler Perry or Sharon Osbourne, and get our own
TV show is because we won't kiss Hillary Clintons ring, or kiss the ring of other NeoCons like Rumsfeld, Cheney, or the Bush Family or Pres. Obama-nation.

    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________

This country is steeped in a serious, Deep State, Elitism, and even if you don't believe the Deep State threat ... the Elitism
in America is undeniable in this country, one thing the Pres., Mr. Trump should never under estimate ...

Even Matt Drudge or Shaun Hannity would NOT be political players in America

unless they kissed the ring of certain Elites on their site or show, that is a fact.

    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

I read online that Mr. Trump keeps a close ear to Hannity and Drudge as personal friends:

Matt Drudge - he mentions Hillary Clinton too much for my comfort, I don't trust him.

It is as if Drudge is promoting the Elites, by sheer lip service, and we all know Hillary Clinton in running in 2020

One thing to consider is that the F-35, sort of like Tesla's auto driving feature, is an expensive step towards AI based on warfare. Drones are another step. The future is about autonomous weapons systems that can identify threats, determine the best course of action, and remove them most efficiently. This requires a form of AI to do faster than our opponents who are working on the same thing. The F-35 was a viable step towards that.

    Still expensive, but probably necessary.

I got to see one of these guys at the Air Force Museum in Ogden, Utah. Just amazing. My mind boggled when I read that in order to deal with anti aircraft missiles, it would simply put on the afterburner and outrun them. What a time for aviation that must've been!
