Okay, let's keep it honest. President Obama was no halfwit. There is no way a halfwit gets into Columbia and Harvard and turns a middle income status into multi-millions. So you have to give him that.

But President Obama NEVER put America's interests ahead of other countries interests. And he did many things like Obamacare, the Russian 'reset', the Iranian nuclear deal, etc. etc. etc. that were publicized as great triumphs when in fact were doing great harm.

President Trump gets it wrong sometimes, makes mistakes, speaks too impulsively at times. But he isn't afraid to fail in Plan A, Plan B, Plan C or however many approaches it takes until he finds something that actually accomplishes the goal or fixes the problem. And if it isn't a win-win deal for America, he's not going to make it. He can't undo all the damage that was done by previous Presidents, most especially Obama, overnight.

We haven't had a President like him in a very long time. And I for one hope he sticks around for a second term because we may not get another like him for a very long time.

Refute them then. And make a fact based argument.
    '
You won't because cartoons are the limit of your thinking.

And you won't because you know you can't , and seldom want to be bothered with facts anyway.

And the facts aren't on your side. China is on the march. Trump is retreating. That's a clear fact that the entire world sees.

Trump has betrayed the tradition of US leadership in the world.

You Trumpsters cheered loudly when Trump announced his " Muslim ban". Now, you're trying to pretend that there was actually some other method to Trump's madness.

The courts made short work of that. Trump's own words were used in court to demonstrate his real intent, and thus ruled that his ban was unconsititutional. He managed to get a partial ban, but only after his attorneys had to lose twice and then parse the rationalizations to avoid obviously breaking the law (something Trump never concerns himself over).

The ACA insured 20 million people who were never insured before. It has been a success for the most part.

It's shortcomings rise almost exclusively from the GOP putting its poltical ideology and its craven devotion to the health insurance industry ahead of its constituents well being.

Every single one of the states that failed to expand Medicare in order to insure the poorest and least insurable refused to do so, even when offered free money. Thus millions who would have been eligible, have no access.

The Trump Administration and McConnell have attacked the actuarial model of the ACA by repealing the individual mandate and bringing back the sort of highly profitable junk insurance that companys like Home Depot used to offer and claim they were offering "full benefits".

The Iran nuclear deal was a resounding success and a major international diplomatic triumph. It was not a unilateral move by the US, but the product of negotiations between every major power in the world, all of which are still parties to the agreement (all except the retreating and petulant United States). As a result of the deal, Iran has suspended its nuclear program and is still in compliance.

The Russia reset clearly did not work, and the Russians responded by launching a cyber war against the US, which the US has completely failed to respond to. Of course, the sitting President received help from the Russians as part of their cyber attacks, and has been rewarding his benefactors by either cancelling or refusing to seriously enforce sanctions passed by Congress. Oleg Deripashka got a huge unilateral gift from Trump.

But responding to the Russian threat is not in the Trump plan.

You're right! Trump isn't a lawyer, not an expert on constitutional law. That'd been Trump's interim AG, Sally Yates. Yates didn't serve as Trump's chief judicial consultant / representitive as her position and oath demanded. Yates could have reviewed it and recommended solutions both protecting muslim travelers, and preventing terrorism. What are you cheering?

Its cute how you demand facts when discussing foreign policy, but freely spout nonsense like 'breaking the law.. something Trump never concerns himself over' without a single indictment to prove your statement.

Speaking of statements, this one was particularly nasty.

Must really chap your :democrat: that stupid people like me support Donald Trump, huh? Makes me grin knowing it chaps so bad, you had to come post on my thread. ;)

Interesting opinion piece by Josh Hammer on why he's voting for Trump in 2020 even though he didnt vote for him in 2016.

Last week should have been a time of rejoicing for Trump and Trump Republicans. Trump's agent, Bill Barr, came out with a four page summary of the Mueller Report, and Trump and Trump Republicans claimed, prematurely and wrongly, that Barr's extremely biased summary exonerated Trump. They proclaimed loudly there was no collusion or obstruction, and Trump led the cheers.

Their exuberance was short-lived. Why? Because of Trump, of course.

Trump thought last week was a good time to push for repeal and replace Obamacare.

"Let me tell you exactly what my message is: The Republican party will soon be known as the party of health care," Trump told reporters on Capitol Hill. "You watch."

The Republican failure to deal with health care when they controlled both houses of Congress led to their downfall in the 2018 mid-terms. The lost the House of Representatives, state houses, state legislatures, and held on the Senate by the skin of their teeth despite having 26 to 9 advantage in the races.

In terms of the destruction of his own party, Trump wasn't through. Next, he proclaimed that he intended in shut down the southern border if Mexico didn't comply with his demands. Economics 101 tells us shutting down the border would cause an economic apocalypse.

Adding fuel to the GOP bonfire, Trump decided to cut off aid to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. creating the worst and most counterproductive decision that could possibly be made to deal with the immigration situation on our southern border.

As expected, Trump is backing down on both issues. This has happened over and over again. A sensible person never takes Trump's threats seriously. He is the prime example of The Boy Who Cried Wolf Syndrome.

Trump appears to be having second thoughts about dragooning his party into another showdown over Obamacare, after Republican lawmakers threw a mild fit over his attempts to force the issue last week. Late Monday night, Trump tweeted that the GOP was still “developing a really great HealthCare Plan,” but that they wouldn’t vote on it until after the 2020 elections. Meaning the fifth of never. He says they will vote on it 2021. :roflol:Come on, now that is funny.

As for closing the border, Trump is in the beginning stages of trying to save face. Also, he wanted to hand the problem he created over to Congress, classic Trump. He said he had seen signs that Mexico “has started apprehending more people.”

"Congress has to meet quickly and make a deal. I could do it in 45 minutes. We need to get rid of chain migration," Trump said. More Trump humor, how did this man become our President?

“After many years (decades), Mexico is apprehending large numbers of people at their Southern Border, mostly from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador,” Trump tweeted. “They have ALL been taking U.S. money for years, and doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for us, just like the Democrats in Congress!”

“Security is more important to me than trade,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Tuesday. “We’re going to have a strong border or we’re going to have a closed border.”

Of course, Trump didn't explain why this is a security issue, but that is typical Trump, too. He doesn't have the balls to explain what he really means because what he really means is indefensible and ludicrous. Only his gullible base would believe a humanitarian crisis involving impoverished men, women, and children is a threat to our national security.

Trump backed off on the Mueller Report, too.

Trump lied to Americans again. I knew it when he said it. It was just a matter of time before he backtracked.

“Let people see it. That’s up to the attorney general,” Trump told reporters on March 20. Yes, he just contradicted himself. Trump has a problem with the English language. “There was no collusion. There was no obstruction. There was no nothing,” he added. The point is, he wanted to "let people see it," or so he said.

Now his tune has changed. Like I said, it was just a matter of time. Trump is transparent and highly predictable.

Today Trump dismissed Democrats’ efforts to compel the release of special counsel Robert Mueller's full report as a "somewhat of a waste of time" on the eve of a House panel vote to authorize a subpoena for the entire document and its underlying evidence.

"So there’s no collusion. The attorney general now and the deputy attorney general ruled no obstruction. They said no obstruction," Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with the head of NATO. Writer's note: Trump is lying again. He has not seen the Mueller Report. He knows as much as we do about what is in the report, which is absolutely nothing.

"So there’s no collusion, there’s no obstruction, and now we’re going to start this process all over again?" he continued. "I think it’s a disgrace. These are just Democrats that want to try and demean this country, and it shouldn’t be allowed."

“There is no amount of testimony or document production that can satisfy Jerry Nadler or Shifty Adam Schiff,” Trump tweeted earlier, naming two top House Democrats seeking the report. “It is now time to focus exclusively on properly running our great Country!”

Again, Trump is lying to Americans. On the issue of the Mueller Report and White Houses staffers appearing before Democratic House committees, Trump has refused every time. He has given the House nothing.

Can we believe anything Trump says?

Haters fantasy... finding something Mueller & Barr missed in Muellers report.

Ridiculous, but kinda entertaining watching their party self-destruct.

Out of curiosity, did Obama complete everything he promised during his campaign? You know, like fundamentally changing America?

And before you get all antsy, I didn't vote for Trump, or Clinton. The point being, change has to happen slowly. We all have grand plans, but rarely do things happen at lightening speed, unless one breaks laws to get there.

Exactly what is Trump required to 'give the Democratic House Committee'? Obviously, they want it all. But it's not required, and therefore, they can hope all they want.

Trump should, and will, be judged when his term in office is done. His accomplishments and failures there seen by all.

THE ACA insured 30,000 people with federal subsidies, i.e. taxpayer money, that they weren't getting before. If costs can be reduced to make those subsidies unnecessary in order for people to buy insurance, would that not be a good thing? Ditto for the possibility of getting people into jobs that make them illegible for medicaid, i.e. the public dole. I should think that would be something all honorable people wouldn't criticize.

The Iranian deal gave a whole bunch of taxpayer money to a regime that despises the USA and would like to see us wiped off the face of the Earth. It did literally nothing to eliminate an Iranian nuclear threat.

If you think the Russians are the worst problem the USA or anybody else has with cyber attacks, you simply haven't been keeping up with the news. But the fact is, the Russian cyber attacks on the U.S. elections, based on findings from extensive investigations including the Inspector General, were quite limited and ineffective, small scale, and most likely didn't change a single vote. It certainly had zero effect on the outcome of the election.

On the other hand it was the Obama Administration who was alerted of the Russian intent to create chaos in our 2016 election and who did absolutely nothing about it.

"My father is German -- was German," Trump said. "Born in a very wonderful place in Germany, so I have a great feeling for Germany."

Fred Trump was, of course, born in New York City.

"If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer," he said.

There is no evidence noise from wind turbines can cause cancer.

Trump on Tuesday night told attendees at the National Republican Congressional Committee fundraising dinner that the media would get wind of his comments.

Trump's speech was open to the media.

Trump is not a well man.

I liked the Michigan speech - except that I had to read a transcript 5 days late - because he was:

    40 minutes late
    40 minutes too long

keep it down 45 min. please Mr. Pres. - great comments though

I read online that Mr. Trump keeps a close ear to Hannity and Drudge as personal friends:

I'd be wary of Matt Drudge - he mentions Hillary Clinton too much for my comfort, I don't trust him.

It is as if he is promoting the Elites, by sheer lip service, and we all know Hillary Clinton in running in 2020

They are safely filed with the IRS like yours and mine and remain confidential like yours and mine. The law does not require a President to make his tax returns public, and a businessman like Donald Trump should especially not have to do so and therefore expose countless people to harassment of the paparazzi and dishonest and malicious politicians and media hunting for anything they can claim as a crime to impeach him.

The President filed a certified financial disclosure form that lists his businesses and any entanglements, domestic and foreign, that could be a conflict of interest for a President. If objective, not subjective, evidence surfaces that indicates that report is incomplete or erroneous, THEN Congress can subpoena tax returns as necessary to investigate a possible crime. Until then, nobody has any right to that information any more than they have a right to know about your or my personal business.
