    Discrimination!! :D

My cat didn't have to be trained, he just started doing it. They're good like that. ;)

And my pets are respected, valued and loved. That's not the point.

I've not had the issue in a food store, and I hope I never do.

Not a public place.. just my Airbnb rental ..BUT had guest tell me.. "oh, we have two small dogs that are very house trained.. " yeah.. well they peed all over the place.. and that is the rule when people tell you how "house trained" their pets are, not the exception. Traveling with pets is one of the most selfish thing modern culture condones.

As unpleasant as that might be, that is your property, it should be your rules.

In public places, it affects everybody....

Government sources. I asked for laws, not just the word of a non-official website.

Typically when you see a pet in public that is a problem, the problem really lies with the owner.

Irresponsible people are irresponsible with their pets.

That said, it's ridiculously easy to get those "emotional support" licenses. Planes are becoming zoos. It's ridiculous, people traveling with their emotional support miniature horse. I realize that sounds like satire, but it's not.

I always adopt a policy of do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't harm me. I don't care if people bring their pets into public or anything else they want to do.

We shouldn't allow or disallow things based on worst case scenario's because there will always be morons among us.

Yeah. Even if your pets are great at home, as soon as you take them to a strange place, they're going to be completely off script with that.

Yes.. and I made a decision to accept them (they do ask);I figured long ago that the main reason why they use my services is because their pets are not allowed, at all, in most motels.
    Ain't capitalism great!
Besides, it's all tile (we have another unit.. and pets are not allowed there)

Gosh... it's a wonder you ever venture forth from the house... The better question is why you feel like you have the right to restrict the enjoyment or rights of others...

You know, we almost never agree on anything, but on this, totally agree. Dogs are amazing judges of character. I'll leave it at that.

You really are not reading what was put before you, but for the sake of entertainment, I'll humor you.

Aisle X, where paint is. I politely waited the 15 minutes necessary at the end of the aisle while they picked through the cans of base, to go up the aisle and make my selection.

They infringed and restricted on MY enjoyment.

It wasn't a pet store, where animals could be expected.

Hmmm.. so you're taking the you're just that special approach.. got it. Tell me, if you smoke, should I be able to douse your lit cigarette in public places? Should I be able to report you to the police for assault because of your second hand smoke? Just curious here...

What makes you think the dog owners are so special that they should be able to bring their dogs into a public RETAIL space where people are not able to avoid interaction with them?

    I don't smoke.

If you had bothered to read the OP, I have had dogs, and am perfectly fine with dogs that I am acquainted with. Your indication that dogs may sense something may be true, but it is not the case here I have been bitten twice by dogs claimed to be friendly, by strangers. It would be foolish of me to walk up to a strange dog with no care for my personal safety, now wouldn't it?

Why are vehicles not supposed to bellow pollutants and fumes into the open air? Why do people park within the lines of the designated parking spaces?

The same thing could be said for taking kids into public, or gigantor fat people.

wife & i rescue feral cats, over the years we've had many that lived indoors with us, currently two indoors & 3 outdoor that have heated huts (repurposed plastic dog houses), they make wonderful companions, friendly, warm, inviting and love to be brushed as well as pet... i just can't see why people go to animal mills to buy them...

No, I don't believe so. Constitutional rights and all that. I don't believe pets are covered in there. ;)

Dog owners have no legal or ethical right to bring non-service dogs into stores, etc.

Call the management every time you see it, then call the Health Department.,

I wasn't referring to you. I have no question about you. I was just saying that times are changing.

Yes but animals are property. We have the right to take our property into public, we just have to be responsible for said property.

wrong... most locales restrict beaches, stores and other places are off limits to animals, feds outlaw all animals in any food establishment for human consumption (exception for police dogs on duty with it's officer & service dogs under the strict control of the disabled person)

Pet owners have no legal right to take their pets into stores, etc.

They can be excluded by city or state ordinances and by the stores' management.

Well sure, subject to existing laws. That's true of all property.

You can't drive your car into a restaurant or take your kayak in either.
