Well if everyone hadn’t been using insurance for hang nails and the sniffles for 20 years prices would be what the market would bear. Not what we see today. Everyone seemed to be willing participants...

Wage caps by government start the problem and now many are begging for an increase by government in the minimum wage to stop the bleeding. You would think by now people would want government far far away from healthcare.

Yeh it’s kind of left up to the individual to choose. Just like socialism ought to be. It can be a great thing. More people should try it.

Maybe you can explain how hangnails and sniffles drove up the cost of health services.
But your right. We were willing participates as long as our employers were paying. Then one day employers started sharing that cost with their employees and they started to realize that the reason they hadn't seen a raise was because the insurance company got it.

Wage caps? You mean like Nixon?

I think all wartime presidents tried to cap wages to some extent. It’s my understanding WW2 (so FDR/Truman) efforts are responsible for employers starting to offer health insurance as a workaround. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Insuring for routine care we should have been paying out of pocket for allowed prices to rise over what the market would naturally bear. Catastrophic health policies are insurance. Those that pay for routine care are an attempt to game the system (like a pseudo single payer system) but eventually you have to pay the piper.

I wouldn't call that a cap. It's a replacement for increased wages and still goes on today. One of the reasons for wage stagnation.

There ain't no magic in insurance plans other than the profit they make. They have the costs down to a science.
We are spending more that $3.5 trillion on healthcare. The only way to change that is to pay less and eliminate the profits in the middle.

No wonder your system is messed up. Unintended consequences that people can’t see even after they suffer the consequences.

It started as a way to circumvent caps. I agree 100% on wage stagnation though.

Without insurance, providers would be forced to increase efficiency to the point care was affordable to the consumer and still profitable for the providers. Just like anything else. Insuring for routine care allowed outrageous prices and the insurance companies get the bad rap because premiums are what the consumer ends up paying. The providers get cover.

The provider/insurance relationship is mostly symbiotic. The provider/insurance entity is parasitic to the consumer.

Naw, the federal government hasn’t any business telling schools what to teach.

We were set up on the principle of Federalism. Education is the states’ purview. Full stop.

Where does it say that in our federal Constitution. The Union should have federal universities in the federal districts, in my opinion.

Where does it say that in the Constitution? Unless specified in the Constitution the states are to handle the rest. It’s kind of the point of our system.

Education is important because our federal Constitution is in Writing and the Electorate must be able to read and understand it in our Republic.

This gives the general government, the traditional power of a State in federal districts:
