San Francisco hijacked the companies in it's city and has been losing restaurant upon restaurant.

Business has to please, workers, customers and the lawmakers.
When business starts up, a common problem is short of capital. They work longer hours to make up for it. They skip vacations. So why pay workers a huge wage when the owners get pennies back?

higher paid labor pays more in taxes and creates more in demand.

The labor is more of a write off for business. And where is the theory saying higher wages causes a rise in demand? I see it causes a rise in costs though.

May i suggest you never attempt to start a business. For your own sake, you show how to lose your capital.

The least wealthy tend to spend most of their income; we "get the biggest bang for our buck" there.

why should i waste my time, if I can Only make it on cheap labor instead of creating demand for a commercial product.

Small employers employ a large percentage of workers. When they put more regulations on these businesses while their cost of doing business continues to increase they cannot afford to raise employee wages. Many businesses went bankrupt or were forced to close under the Obama Administration. Larger Corporations, such as McDonalds and similar size businesses can afford to raise wages and still make a profit. Apartment rents are out of sight as is the cost of food and transportation. Doctors I solo practices are barely making it due to the high cost of new regulations under ACA.

The federal government is to big. We don't need the department of education, we did better without it.just one example of government over reach.

The present situation of the working-poor has become acute because of two historical factors:
*The advent of the Information Age, which replaces industrial jobs lost in the past Industrial Age. Those jobs were displaced to the Far East in the 1990s.
*No modern western country is/was "saved" from the disastrous effects on entry-level jobs that have hightailed it to China. (Which is an inescapable historical fact and not only in the US!)
*American voters are unaware of the consequences of the Great Recession, which has meant that (in 2008, ten years after the advent of Information Age and Internet) a higher level of knowhow was necessary to find a decently-paid job. Meaning the the requirements for many, many jobs is an advanced schooling-degree. That requirement is the prevailing factor today when more than half students who graduate with a high-school degree DO NOT PURSUE A POSTSECONDARY-LEVEL diploma! Whyzzat?!?
*Because even at the entry-level (vocational), such training is far too expensive for the poorest household. (Or, there is simply no motivation to undertake the training.)
*Uncle Sam must get off his FAT-ARSE and start educating his youth for the Information Age, where - regardless of discipline - manipulating computers and databases
thoughtfully are necessities. And he must do so free, gratis and for nothing for all who subscribe to such courses in state-schools! We, as a nation, can no longer afford to fund a DoD that swallows (this year) 52% of Uncle Sam's Discretionary Budget. (See here!)

Waiting for a cogent reply on your part. But, confident that you haven't got one ...

    From here:

    (Costs below are ANNUAL!)
Is an average fee at a post-secondary state-school (including Room&Board) of $12K too much for the state and Federal governments to assume?

    And if not, why not!?!

One-liner sarcasm is hardly suitable in a Debate Forum.

Perhaps you would be happier on a Message Board ... ?

    Bollocks!

Given the fact that soooooo FEW of any graduating generation actually achieves ATTAINING an advanced degree, it is very indicative that cost is the major issue. To wit (from here):
So, instead of wasting money on the DoD, why not make an investment in our children's future? Let's fund (state and Federal governments together) the post-secondary education of our children. It will prove to be a LOT CHEAPER than paying Unemployment Benefits!

The "payback" would be far more important for the entire nation ...

Or here: Evolution of US University Attendance Costs

    AVERAGE ANNUAL COSTS:
Public two-year schooling fee (in District): $12,320
Public four-year schooling fee (in State): $21,370

Not that expensive! Then why do so few students take the courses?

NB: All that need be done is make those fees above (only state-schools) tax-deductible!

a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage is a cost of living adjustment; Labor must be able to afford our First World economy.

Will only idle the poor and help Big Business. Any collective interest in helping unskilled workers should be addressed with a direct subsidy from government.

SF is just another example of a failed DP ruled urban Hell Hole.

    1. Uncle Sam Can't educate.
    2. All of our collapsing DP run urban Hell Holes reveal unlimited entry level unskilled jobs - but not for the minimum wage.

The minimum wage helps Big Business eliminate competitors.
Most unskilled workers, especially those with no work history are worth very little to the individuals and small businesses who might employ them.
It would be worth a great deal to the community as a whole to get these idled Americans into the workforce.

The best solution would be jobs for those who can work, and strictly enforced vagrancy laws and public facilities for those who are unable to take care of themselves.
