Your personal history is interesting, Thank you for sharing. To be sure, capitalism has positive aspects that are lacking in other systems. But unregulated capitalism can trend toward monopoly-ism & all the abuses connected with that. Unregulated capitalism is responsible for the extreme disparity between rich & poor in America today. So capitalism can be destructive to societies. It is better when we mix elements of socialism with capitalism to soften the abusive aspects of capitalism alone. Several W European countries have done that with great success. I am convinced that an economy of mixed capitalism with socialism is the very best choice for those living in any society, because it addresses the economic needs of everyone in that society.
Rohn never could be understood by those who refused to understand. i wager millions of humans learned a lot from Rohn,. Did you actually watch two videos or decide that since i posted them, you shunned them? I do not believe market power is a negative. Consumers speak to the market with their checkbook or credit card. When firms refuse to listen, they do what Toys R Us did and collapse. What happened to the Henry J automobile? What about the Studebaker? How about the Hudson? What about Sears? They may be currently in free fall. Who spoke to Sears? As to right wing or left wing, those are not economic principles. Those are political principles. I only rejected Democrats after being one and living their credo for 4 decades.I have approximately the same number of years as a left winger vs a right winger. I believe with that education i am far more balanced.
That's because you aren't referring to economics and therefore have no means to add to any socialist political economy debate.
Thank you for the kind words. I offer lessons from the era of FDR to presently. Who else here actually lived when FDR was president? I was about 8 years old when the A bomb was used on Japan. I spend my time trying to produce value and at no cost. I recall capitalism when it was not nearly as regulated as today. But regulation has failed to impress the humans nor help them as much as they fancy it has. Did Regulation preserve the millions of failed businesses? Who recalls when TWA was a well established profitable airline? Who recalls when Ling Temco Vought was a powerhouse firm that became LTV corporation? Who recalls when Kaiser had a good large engineering firm that sold out? Kaiser once was a very large supply of concrete. Ever hear about that? Kaiser built dams too. Did you know that? Kaiser created Kaiser hospitals. Maybe you know of that. I once worked for a Bell telephone company. Today the offices are not remotely like they were when I worked for them. Some of you recall the telephone booth. Some may recall when people had a telephone on their kitchen wall or one on their night stand in the bedroom. Some lived when Amazon was unheard of. Who recalls the famous Cab front steam engines? I recall all of that.
I talk to Chinese that lived under Communist rule. I and they get along very well. They are a valuable resource for me to get to know the Chinese up close as humans. I like showing this photograph of Soviet progress. I don't mean the day past the bombing, but 20 years past the bombs falling. This is how genuine socialism works. Study it in action. now study capitalism. Same city but this is capitalism. Same time frame too.
Never ignore economics. I do not ever ignore economics. I happen to have photos of both that I took with my own camera. See the post of the same city... the photo with destruction is socialism and the nice mansion is capitalism.
That what I thought. And that is why you said what you did. In such a business there is no accounting and handling of "profit". All income after expenses is considered ordinary income for the business owner. And so in that case there is no profit" and no basis for discussing "5% profit" either. So it looks like your original terminology was "imprecise". Thanks. You cleared that up.
Kode, talking to any Democrat is a huge gamble. Those people are bigots. But not all Bigots are bigots on all topics. Some Bigots are so wrapped up in themselves nobody but another Bigot reaches them. You had essentially called me out for my attempts at complete honesty with no taunts by me. I have been receiving back taunts and insults. How long should I play patsy to them?
Not at all. You muddied the water. I paid a bookkeeper of vast experience.i ran the business using profit and loss and balance sheets. i needed those for my bankers. Below a particular size, there is almost no justification to form a corporation. When I formed the Real estate corporation, I had that handled by a lawyer in San Francisco who was truly an expert on this. His work was superb. I agreed to incorporate mostly due to then laws over set asides for retirement funds. But guess who gave me hell? I was told by my accounting people who were CPAs i should have first talked it over with them and they said incorporation at the time was wrong for me to have done.
Your description of how free market capitalism works is quite accurate. My personal concern is that while capitalism serves those with money quite well, and creates a wealth of choices for consumers to buy, it funnels the wealth created within the system entirely to those who are already rich at the expense of the workers. This disparity of wealth--leaving the workers out of the benefit chain--I feel, makes pure capitalism a failed choice for any society. The answer is to force capitalism to be more responsive to the economic classes below the wealthy ones. To do that, we can mix elements of socialism in with capitalism to redirect portions of wealth toward the workers & reduce the economic disparity between the two. This would improve the health of our society, which is every bit as important as the individual.
Were the part in red totally or mostly true, of course that would be an excellent argument. Workers do not sign a lifetime agreement to work for X wages. Workers unhappy with wages at any firm are totally free to sell their services to a higher bidder. Where they don't find a higher bidder, even if they prefer not to, they can relocate to a place loaded with higher bidders. I recall when Microsoft went on a hiring binge and offered higher incomes to Silicon Valley workers than they get here in this area. It was like a giant sucking sound. Workers sold their homes to buy in the lower cost area of Seattle. Texas also provided a huge labor sucking sound by taking our workers from here to TX. Force by whom? If by Government plan on that failing. Do you understand how to paint the pig in a fashion to fool others into seeing it as a dairy cow? When you glow over socialism. I see the pig and you present the dairy cow.
You want me to refer to economics to show that you can refer to economics? Gosh! Go back to my original economic comment and stop with the prattle.
Absolutely not. I prefer to discuss the flawed system Americans think they want that they call socialism. If you have a complaint about economics, state your case and we can discuss it. Do you not believe in the velocity of money ? To kick off economics? I accept this as truth that by speeding up mercantile operations, the Feds take in a lot more tax revenue. Trump is using this system.
Also, I said show something. But you may have believed I said economics. Show anything that you believe needs discussion. Anything .... choose what you want discussed.
