Every day, in every way, the right wing is seceding from these United States. They do this, by elevating states rights, and hobbling, and RUINING the Federal Government. They castigate it and ridicule it as only being helpful in war, and dealing with foreign powers. Other than that, they want to make the federal sit on its hands. Unless of course, we are referring to Trump's executive orders, and his IMPERIAL Presidency. We take for example abortion, gay marriage, trans using toilets, rape as consensual/legitimate. The right wing wants to make these decisions, on a state by state basis. And if you don't like the state, SCRAM. The right wing wants a federal, that is so hobbled, that the state determining and arrogating to itself, cruel and unusual punishment for its constituents, has no hero. Noone to stand up for the citizen, against the power of the STATE, and by state, I mean, one of 57. This cruel and unusual punishment, meted out on a state by state dictation, is MEANT to CAUSE, those they don't like and would discriminate against, to SELF DEPORT. This cruel and unusual punishment of citizens, is MEANT, to DRIVE those that the right wing call WEAK, to be the responsibility of the BLUE states. Those BLUE states can keep the weak alive, but those RED states, are MOVIN ON. They are PROSPEROUS, particularly as they have EJECTED all the UNDESIREABLES. This is why the Trump appointees and those needing confirmation, REFUSE to answer, if they AGREE with the brown vs board decision. This hinges DIRECTLY on their INTENTION, to DISCRIMINATE. There is a PLAN, to elevate the power of the state, and diminish the power of the FEDERAL in EVERY WAY. It is being implemented at a rapid rate, with a buffoon clown, doing EVERYTHING in his power, to divert our attention away from his REAL EVIL. They are going to make harsh zones, that will drive their undesirables to blue states. This is, IN EFFECT, a secession, save being named such. The red states are seceding from caring about ALL THE PEOPLE, and want ONLY, to care about the people they CHOOSE to care about. There can be no greater danger to our country, than the right wing, that is doing what they choose, over your voice. And engineering ways to limit that voice.
States rights should Trump federal rights IMO. Let people live in states that they feel comfortable in.
The South never really did accept the loss of the civil war. And it showed that the notion that a place this large can be run by one set of rules, doesn't work. We have seen the likes of people like trump and sessions, and of all people, bannon, take power, which is an abomination. And we have seen that someone with tyrannical dreams who is popular with a minority of the country, can severely abuse power; stalling or possibly defeating the system of checks and balances. The country has failed. It is time to mostly do away with a federal government at least. Trump has shown that the person in the White House is far too powerful for a free nation to survive. The position needs to be eliminated. I would rather just see the West Coast secede. Texas has wanted to secede for a long time. And red and blue states want nothing to do with each other. I certainly don't want anyone like trump or sessions EVER having control of anything in my country again. But perhaps a looser federation of States could work. End the nightmare. Contact your representatives and call for the right of secession.
The greatest danger is the leftwing, as they inch us closer to socialism, seek to empower the mob and punish the most productive members of society. There is no greater danger in a society than when the least productive and more ignorant members attain more power and wage war on the most productive members, the rich. See how that worked out for cuba, venezuela, zimbabwe. All tried to empower and help the poor by increasing powers of government.. how did that end? Tell me, aside from defense, what does government do well? Regulate? Where were they during financial crisis? How have they run VA? How have done on education? Limiting the federal goverment’s power is engrained in our constitution. The government has become a much more intrusive body than framers ever intended it to be, in fact they warned us about it.
The left has been using states rights to push their agenda nationally. Just look at the coddling of transgenders, pot laws, gay marriage, etc..... The right is tired of having the left's agenda shoved in our face by nonlegislative means. Executive orders and Supreme Court edicts are not how our country was meant to work. The 10th Amendment has a purpose and it's been ignored for too long. General welfare is not an all encompassing mandate for federal control.
If the red states "secede" in name only by driving out those who do not condone their odious white nationalism there will be repercussions. The EC is based upon population and that will lead to fewer and fewer House seats and loss of any hope of ever electing a POTUS. At most they "might" be able to retain a majority in the Senate but that would require them to have white nationalist allies in blue states with enough voters to elect GOP senators. Either way it means relinquishing the Executive Branch and ultimately the SCOTUS too. Furthermore the "power-of-the-purse" can be used to deny red states funding for reasons of discrimination. In essence the red states will only impoverish themselves both financially and as far as diversity goes. Corporations will relocate to blue states in order to not be associated with odious white nationalism. If this is really what red states want they are going to be hurt by the law of unintended consequences.
You must not be aware of the constitution. It is very evident that the founders did not want a large federal government as it would become authoritarian like the left wants.
We already have a loose federation of states. It's documented in the constitution. If you are fine with that, then what's your problem?
Trump is moving to cut public access to information on how, and to whom, banks loan money Redlining – the practice of denying loans to home buyers and others based on their race or ethnic background – has been illegal for decades. But, last year, the investigative news outlet Reveal published a massive investigation strongly suggesting that redlining continues today. Now, the Trump Administration is moving to cut public access to the information that helped Reveal produce its report. https://progressive.org/op-eds/trump-wants-to-make-red-lining-easier-Kristipati-190510/
Do you really think that Californians aren’t leaving in droves for Texas. The only reason California is growing is because they attract illegals. I hope they ask the citizenship question in the next census.
The Federal Government is out of control and needs to be reduced by 80%. Most of the Federal Government is not even legal and operating under "color of law" and completely without jurisdiction. The excesses of the Federal Government were created by the liberals in an attempt to replace freedom of the individual citizen with the tyranny of the State. It is time to eviscerate the Federal Government and reduce it to what the Constitution authorizes, and nothing more.
Show us the constitutional language supporting your claim. Conservatives have increased the size and power of the federal government as much as liberals have. If we did this, it would leave the federal government exactly as it is. There is nothing unconstitutional about it.
None of the Alphabet agencies ( FDA, FBI. FCC, ATF, DEA, etc.) are Constitutionally legal. In order for them to be legal, their jurisdiction must be specifically given by the Constitution. If you disagree, please show which paragraph in the Constitution gives the Federal Government jurisdiction over drugs, or what a citizen can do with their own bodies. Show me where the Constitution gives the Federal Government jurisdiction to create law enforcement agencies with jurisdiction over and no accountability to the Citizens. Show me where the Government was given jurisdiction over radios, or your right to travel. Show me where the Congress was given power to delegate its duties to the Federal Reserve, show me where the Federal Government was given permission to own land outside of military installations, ports, or in trust for the American Citizens. Then read the 10 Amendment.
Show us the language, or SCOTUS ruling supporting your claim. Ah, I see now. Your confusion is you think the constitution must specifically say the government can do something. That’s is incorrect. It must specifically prohibit the government from doing something. No such agency exists. See above correction to your confusion.
So, let us take Gay Marriage as an example of the talking point at hand. California voted on Prop 8 and Gay Marriage was defeated by a 52.3 to 47.7 margin. Again, we are talking about a fundamentally BLUE state. And, it was the voters who made their case. Then, along comes a FEDERAL un-elected judge who decided to disenfranchise the largest group of Black voters in US history. A 15 decade long precedence of FAMILY LAW being reserved for the states was blown up right out of the water and it wasn't even over staged by Federal Legislation. A group of un-elected Supreme Cort judges. There is a bigger danger to the country than what you described. It is called Far Left Democratic Socialism.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people" 10th Amendment Your knowledge of the Constitution is abysmal.
All due respect, Guyzilla, but you're sounding a bit hysterical. The U.S. has always had disagreement on issues. The robust debate is a part of what makes America "America". And don't forget that "states rights" works both ways. Just one example would be the fact that some states have abortion rules that are more liberal than what Roe v Wade outlined. Some states have no death penalty. Some states have restrictive gun laws. Others are much less restrictive. I could go on, but the fact is that "one size fits all" is not how our country was set up. I think the mistake you're making is imagining that everyone thinks like you do, and if only those pesky states rights would get out of the way, the federal government could craft a society that you personally like and then impose it on the entire U.S. You are ignoring the fact that that can backfire on you big time. All state laws must comply with the rights and protections given to us in the Constitution. And all state laws may be challenged on a constitutional basis. But aside from that, the peoples of different states may craft laws that reflect the cultural norms of their own state. These differences between the states are normal. They are what was intended by our Founders. So calm down, Guyzilla. The sky is not falling.
I doubt that it is only about being woefully abysmal. It is also about being contemptuous of our system of government that is superior to Socialism.
