Because Trump! https://spectator.us/racist-incidents-down-trump/ "Daniel J. Hopkins and Samantha Washington set out to measure the effect of Trump’s election on anti-black and anti-Hispanic prejudice, using a randomly-selected panel of 2,500 Americans whose changing opinions have been under study since 2008." "Anti-black prejudice, they found, declined by a statistically-insignificant degree between 2012 and 2016, when Trump was elected. But then after 2016 it took a sharp dive that was statistically significant." "It might be added that the election of Barack Obama also caught liberal opinion unawares. That event, it might be recalled, was supposed to be the breakthrough which led to a kinder, gentler America. Instead it seemed to be followed by a more fractious period in race relations, culminating in race riots in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014." They speculate about the reasons, but my guess is that it's because we no longer have a President pushing racial divisions. Additionally, with the improved economy, the economic fortunes of most all Americans have improved. With greater prosperity, there is less to blame "others" for. It's also heartening that for all the hate and division being pushed by Democrats and leftists, they don't seem to be able to counter this trend.
The study, which was done by two decidedly anti-Trump academics can be found here: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3378076
Trayvon and Ferguson both lead to a great deal of damage to race relations. Those happened during Obama's term and he only had that old timey leftist religion to fall back on.
It's possibly by the Trump effect which made American people more liberal because they see Trump’s anti-Mexican rhetoric reprehensible. If public opinion is pushed in the opposite direction, Democrats will have a chance in 2020, especially Biden who is leading others by 18 points in the polls. "It's possibly by the Trump effect which made American people more liberal because they see Trump’s anti-Mexican rhetoric reprehensible." Or, that Fake News meme belongs in the trash heap; along with the rest of the race-baiting crap.
I think the white citizenry became sensitized and more aware of prejudice and institutional racism with videos of unarmed blacks being shot by police, Black Lives Matter and the rise of the alt-right, plus having a racist president in power, many white people want to distance themselves from him and his embarrassing statements.
Thank you for your superficial and racist analysis. But I also forgot to mention youth. Younger people are less prejudiced than the baby boomers who are dying out. So there is a generational shift.
"Thank you for your superficial and racist analysis." Haaahahahahaaa! "But I also forgot to mention youth. Younger people are less prejudiced than the baby boomers who are dying out. So there is a generational shift." Read the report. The study followed a set group of people. It makes no reference to any potential generational shift.
I find some hope in the idea that even under relentless assault from the mainstream media, where racism is extolled hourly it seems, the general public has shied away from the overt racism of the left and returned to a much more tolerant footing. I know, it drives liberals mad when their best made plans are dashed, but for the folks in the actual country we share, the relief is substantial.
Those black people are the worst. But I do wonder if he just picked the scumbags that reacted to put in his video . Hmmm
