https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/24/world/europe/theresa-may-resignation.html Theresa May to Resign as U.K. Prime Minister Mrs. May said she would step down as leader of the Conservative Party and then as prime minister, after repeatedly failing to get her Brexit plan through Parliament. BRAVO Brexit, Just Do It! Ms. May did not "get it". My vote is for Boris Johnson. Moi Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic, regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.
Yep, Boris Johnson definitely expressed his interest in the job. Someone must bring the Brexit debacle to a meaningful end.
That will not happen. He wants a No Deal Brexit. Parliament says no. Remember May gave up her Parliamentary Majority in the last election. Another election is needed and if there is one thing which is clear it is that the Tory Party is now a dead Party so I doubt the New Leader will want to call one, so it will just be deadlock until the next General Election which is not due till 5th May 2022. Given that they have no majority it may be possible to get them out with no confidence votes before then.
I think many no votes from conservatives were due to the fact that Mays deal was too soft. Johnson might be able to get support to tougher Brexit or maybe even full blown hard exit at due date.
Seriously? She worked her butt off to get a Brexit to happen, but she never received any majority for her plans. And the people who claimed the plans were not good enough, submitted their own plans for a Brexit. None of them got a majority. It's all their vault. Good for May to throw in the towel. There is no point to drag a dead horse around.
@alexa @Thedimon @notme Just Brexit. Make deals in following months, years. Support a No Deals, Brexit! Why Not? Seems like the deals are Brexit - lite tastes worse than regular. and I wouldn't trust them. Ms. May no comprende ta-ta Theresa - you should have done it a long time ago
Not from Parliament he won't and that is where he would need to to get it for a hard Brexit. Another election and Farage and his Brexit Party, do not know. That though would almost certainly set off Scottish Independence. At the moment British Politics is up the creek.
Same politicians so I don't see it changing in that. Certainly the hard right of the Tories may join the Brexit Party. Frankly everything is in chaos and it is impossible to know what will happen. Lots of remainers apparently voted for the Brexit Party at the EU elections as it apparently had a good spin. Whether they would vote them in in 2022 who knows but I see us going nowhere for a long time unless there is another general election which I do not believe the Tories would win and with this Brexit Party coming along, that divides the hard right - if that is any of them get voted in in a General Election. Farage has not done too well there. Mind you ... I seem to remember reading that May has stolen your system for dividing voting areas which people are saying should ensure the Tories always get in.
Well for starters,... the premiere league will be gone, the foreign EU citizens working there have to pack their bags wit 3.7 million other EU citizens. And about 3 million UK citizens will have to pack their bags in the EU. And don't go like,.. oh well, plenty of job opportunities in the UK if so many people leave. Because them low wage Eastern Europeans in the UK aint the same people the UK got abroad. They wont fill in them blanks. Already 1 trillion pounds left UK bankaccounts, and with that 7.000 financial consultants in the banking industry. https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-b...leave-london-ahead-of-brexit-ey-idUKKCN1R114E You think a multinational with it's headquarters in the UK with loads of business in the EU, would accept to stay around in the UK with zero business in the EU do to no-deal-brexit? If most of his business is in the EU and lots of employers are EU citizens, means it can just as easy move it's HQ to the EU, and wait till the UK comes to senses.
Thank YOU. Deals can be made after Brexit. Brexit First Deals after. The Deals First approach just doesn't work. Does it? Nor will it with all the hypotheticals and private & profits concerns. Brexit First! Just Do It.
Should the large minority who voted against it be ignored? Should the greater interests of the UK be ignored for the sake of a very foolish referendum result? Should the UK economy be brought crashing down to satisfy them and the Russians who manipulated them?
That means,... +6 million people get fired and must immigrate, and than sort out that mess. For a country like the US, it would mean the unemployment rate would more than double. And companies will flee the UK, like the financial companies already are doing, since no trade between UK and the EU will be possible. Yeah sure... deals can be made after Brexit. But it does sound that you do not understand the catastrophe the UK will do to itself if it does that. Maybe this gives you a clue how bad it will be. The UK public broadcasting company.. the BBC,... is planning to move to Amsterdam. Their own PUBLIC... broadcasting! lol
Of course the good part for whoever comes next is they can just blame it all on May. She should promptly change her name to Scapegoat
There is hope on the horizon! https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ns-big-lead-in-eu-election-poll-idUSKCN1SO0P7
