The Iraq war was based on lies.

The Iraq war narrative was promoted by the government and the corporate media.

The Iraq war was a historic disaster on every front. It failed miserably in every single regard.

It caused unbelievable amounts of death and suffering that is still reverberating to this day.

However, its biggest failure had to be the colossal waste of financial resources that were squandered on this imperialist misadventure.

According to some estimates, the war in Iraq could end up costing the country somewhere between two to four TRILLION dollars.

Just to get an idea of how insanely wasteful this is, I will dedicate this thread to listing things that the US could have used that money for instead.

For starters, outstanding student loan debt in the US is about $1.5 trillion.

So for the cost of the Iraq war, the US could have paid off ALL student loan debt with hundreds of billions of dollars to spare.

I'll post other examples periodically, but I would like other members to post their own examples as well.

For the cost of the Iraq war, the US could have paid off approximately 13% to 26% of all US mortgage debt.

For the cost of the Iraq war, the US could have repaired approximately 100% of its roads and bridges.

    This one is amazing.

For the cost of the Iraq war, the US could have paid for approximately 34 years worth of cancer-related healthcare.

We should never send troops and go to war in any country unless we are prepared for all-out war, occupy the country, and set up a republic form of government with a constitution similar to ours. Do what we did in Germany and Japan. Look how those countries are prospering and behaving.

Yes. It's an obvious false flag operation. Let's hope Trump is not foolish and reckless enough to start a war based on this.

A University of Chicago study showed that the continuing "containment" of the Hussein regime cost just as much as the war in Iraq.

It's amazing how brazen these false flags have become over time. And yet there are no shortage of people who are either oblivious to or in denial of them.

The Gulf of Tonkin was in no way a "false flag". The second (famous) "Gulf of Tonkin Attack" never even happened and even President Johnson was expressing doubts about it occurring.

    But.

Two days earlier in broad daylight there was another "Gulf of Tonkin Attack" where a single American destroyer was fired on by North Vietnamese torpedo boats and returned fire. We know this because the North Vietnamese openly admitted that the attack took place. They complained because return fire from the destroyer killed the commander of one of their torpedo boats.

It was a false flag. All US wars in the 20th and 21st centuries were based on false flags. The only way the US can get someone to attack them is by orchestrating it themselves.

Oh bull. This is so incredibly stupid that it cast doubts on your thousands of other posts.

The U.S. didn't orchestrate the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The U.S. didn't orchestrate the North Korean invasion of South Korea.
The U.S. didn't orchestrate the Germans sinking neutral shipping or the ocean liner Lusitania.

    It's the truth.

But it did deliberately and systematically maneuver Japan into a war.

But the US did support the South Korean dictatorship which routinely organized military incursions across the 38th parallel into North Korean territory.

But the US did allow such ships to outfit themselves with weapon systems and to ram German u-boats.

The Lusitania was a British ship. The U.S. had no control over it whatsoever.

And you have actual proof South Korea was conducting military incursions into North Korea prior to the North Korean invasion.

The only way the U.S. "maneuvered" Japan into attacking us was by our oil and steel sanctions which was a response to the Japanese invasion of China. Now true, the sanctions were ruining the Japanese economy. But that in no way justified the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor or the Philippines.

    I completely disagree.

When we go to war we should be committed to causing them the most amount of destruction we possibly can and then leave them with it so other nations learn their lesson.

If what your nation did was so horrible that we had to commit to ruining you then you should pay the price by rebuilding your own society back up from the stone age.

At the time of his death Saddam Hussein was responsible for the deaths of more people than any other human being alive.

    That's something.

Tell that to all the people they gassed.

Or all the women and children they raped in their torture chambers.

    They did nothing huh?
