If discrimination is OK according tot he law. Obviously. You don't get to pick and choose which groups get discriminated against and which services. If the Law accepts discrimination it accepts discrimination. Law works on the basis of precedent. If this principle is accepted - it is a matter of time before some elected group tries to use this principle for what ever end it deems fit. Then you go on about gas stations being in Gov't hands - what are you talking about ? - Gas stations are not owned by the Gov't. If someone can refuse service to someone on the basis of "religious belief" why not Gas ? You claim to draw the line at essential services but you are not the one in power. Who gets to define essential services ? Take "Pizza Guy" for example - If he can refuse to provide Pizza to a gay's because it is for a gay wedding - how is this any different than refusing to provide service to anyone who he thinks is Gay ? Folks say - "well the gay fellow can go somewhere else" - the Gas station owner can say the same - or say "gays can just buy electric cars" or any dumb excuse. In the Pizza example - which is a real example in case you didn't know - how is food not an essential service ? If one food provided can refuse service to gays - the only pizza shop in a small town - why not the local grocery store in some small town ?
Quit jumping into a discussion that you know nothing about and spouting insults that you can't back up.
LOL, only you can spout insults, huh? When I want your opinion I'll ask you. Try to keep up, please, I have dozens of posts on this thread.
You were the one that was begging for my opinion - jumping onto a conversation without having a clue what the convo was about with some mindless unsubstantiated insult. I did not insult you.
Well your link says nothing about domestic partnership, and it certainly doesn't acknowledge gay marriage. Anyways it is a legal contract, seems to be you are trolling again over petty sheet!!!!
They shouldn’t have to but the goal has always been America is inclusive so our laws have gone in that direction. With the new direction many are wanting to take I say we should abandon the ADA, religious preferences should no longer be accommodated by employers, and landlords should be free to refuse housing to blacks. Sound good?
bottom line, are they in business to make money? also, isn't it christian to help others, especially on their special day...
How else would you have one respond to your nonsensical strawman and complete lack of response to the topic.
That statute was rendered unconstitutional in obergfell c Hodges. That is not the definition of marriage any longer.
The 14th amendment incorporated it to the states. But his argument fails on its face. Baking a cake, or selling flowers does not prohibit the baker/florist from practicing their religion.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incorporation_of_the_Bill_of_Rights This article explains why states and their subdivisions cannot violate the First Amendment.
Even at the financial expense of a struggling business? Who would exercise the freedom to discriminate like this?
