Oregon Senate Democrats hastily cancelled a planned Saturday floor session late Friday afternoon, citing reports that right-wing militia members were planning to rally at the Capitol.

The cancellation comes on the heels of right-wing militia members offering armed protection to Republican Senators who have denied Democrats a quorum by disappearing, probably across the Oregon border into Idaho.

Republicans left the Capitol on Wednesday, trying to block the passage of a cap on carbon emissions. Sen. Brian Boquist (R-Dallas) implied that he would shoot and kill any Oregon State Police officer sent by the governor to retrieve him.

READ THIS ARTICLE - I CANNOT POST THE ENTIRE THING....Oregon is going off the rails... Republican State Senators have FLED their state to avoid doing their jobs (which is to vote AGAINST this bill in question if they oppose it).

This is beyond messed up.... But another reason why no Republicans in this country should ever be voted into office, at the state or federal level..... Bunch of ****ing babies...

I just thank my maker that my district and state are True Blue, after being mostly Dead Red for much of my lifetime...

How does this resolve? Does this resolve? This needs to be monitored and is likely the biggest unreported story in the country....

I recall democrats using the same tactic to avoid a vote. Don't believe me? Here it is:

Guys, you should read the article in the OP's link. In it you'll shockingly see democrats supporting law enforcement and free speech for conservatives - I don't think that's ever been done before.

Ain't it amazing that when conservatives use liberal tactics then suddenly liberals start behaving like conservatives?

So here it is once again, when libs do it all is OK, when conservatives do it then everyone needs to panic because lives are in danger and the world is going to end. I'll bet no violence occurs at all, unlike what happens when libs protest and riot.

Didn't know that story of Wisconsin 8 years ago... It was wrong then and it's wrong now... Lawmakers have to attend lawmaking efforts, win or lose...

But the distinct threat of that single Oregon Republican is pretty gross.... I didn't see anybody in Wisconsin making threats like that...

Predictably, the media cheered the Wisconsin Dems eight years ago.

The Democrats are trying to shove this bill down the states throats to have it take effect immediately, so that the people of the state have no chance to vote on it.

    **** Oregon Democrats.

That popped into my mind too. Remember the media and how they kept parroting the same "undisclosed location" phase? I think it was Hannity or maybe Rush that did a super-cut of that phrase and it went on almost 2 minutes. Was almost as long as the "powering through" montage after Hillary had to be carried into a van at the 9/11 memorial.

Cheered it and conducted dozens of interviews from the "undisclosed location".

I'm not sure how to put this, but you can see HERE that Quorum-Busting is an old trick both sides have done. Heck, even Abraham Lincoln lept out of a building once in order to do it. It didn't, by the way.

They should arrest that one rep and charge him with conspiracy to murder police officers.

Meanwhile the Dem majority should pass legislation saying they don't need reps who won't show up to function, and impeaching them if they continue.

The people of Oregon cannot let their will be done because the Republicans are blocking them in favor of Special Interests. They need a mass recall vote to be held.

Similar situations have happened in the state of Washington.

The two states were formerly part of the same territory, so have a lot in common.

There are a lot of rural conservatives, but the cities where the majority of the population is are very far Left and socially progressive.

In some smaller towns, the two can come in very close contact with each other, because the Conservatives live right on the outskirts of the town, while the inside is composed of "flower children" who can't afford to live in Portland, but are seeking an "urban" core.

I heard one of those Republicans being interviewed. The Dems are abusing power by making all of these bills an emergency. Previous bills without the emergency declaration were able to be overturned by public petition (IIRC), while those passed under emergency can not be overturned by petition. Of course the GOP using very tool in their disposal as the minority party is being criticized while the DNC will use any means necessary to advance their cause. The DNC has done this before and if you criticize them they will laugh in your face. It's not like these types of resistance are unusual, filibusters do pretty much the same thing. And let's not forget the DNC sit in when they didn't get their way.

Gee, where have I heard lately about a politician trying to get his way by claiming a false emergency?

Funny how there were no complaints like this when the Dems did this in Wisconsin in 2011.

I read the link provided about that episode and didn't see any specific threats of violence against the State Police in 2011, but I've already stated I disagree with no-show politicians on either side...

I couldn't be more pleased that House democrats refuse to allocate funds for that "false emergency" ... Now the (D) mayors in El Paso, and Portland Maine might not appreciate the integrity of House (D)'s ... but I really admire their callousness.

I think it could be construed as threatening a public official, and I certainly don't condone it ... but arresting a bureaucrat for not coming to work? Recall him, bring him up on ethics maybe ... but arrest? Oregon is seriously f*cked up.

It's amazing you didn't know the Wisconsin angle on this before posting your OP. It's the first thing I thought of. You must be very young or very uninformed or possibly both. It kind of takes the righteous indignation air out of your balloon doesn't it

This bill is not the will of the Oregon voters. It is the will of our Governor and her Democrat lackeys that control our State Government. The people of Oregon are very much against this bill. The Republicans want this bill to go in front of the people of Oregon so that they can vote on it. Our Governor does not want that because she knows the bills will go down hard in flames.

This bill is nothing more than a money grab to finance our broken PERS system that the Democrats demanded and put into place. A PERS system that it causing financial hardship on our State and is preventing Democrats from increasing spending for their pet projects. If this bills passed, it will ruin Oregon's economy and cost each Oregonian thousands of $$s a year.

This is callow behavior. There is no justification for obstructing a legislative body by intentionally negating a quorum. Our representatives should be doing the jobs they were elected for. If they feel otherwise consider resignation.

If we arrested people for not showing up to work on a regular basis, at least a quarter of the teachers in my school would be under arrest! :hiding:

Where they threatening to kill police officers?

I must have missed that part.

I don’t really care how the states handle their affairs but threats — especially murder — are where both parties should draw the line. Sad to see y’all have dropped the LEO support so quickly though.
