The information posted here is for liberals who prefer to think that America is the No 1 threat to peace and freedom in the world

Leftists have no desire for peace and freedom.

That is exactly the model they yearn for.

I'm surprised it's taking the communists so long. I expected them pull a full Tiananmen Square back in 1999 when the UK gave up Hong Kong.

Comparing China and Hong Kong is just another example showing the left (China) is inferior to the right (Hong Kong).

The very few leftists in Hong Kong are overjoyed while waiting for the authoritarians from Beijing to take full control.

Interesting video, but isn't it the business of the people in Hong Kong? Why is there even a video, unless there are certain banking interests who want to keep Hong Kong separate from China. Of course l can see where all the billionaires there would be freaking out. But it's still none of our business.

If I recall correctly, the protests happened at a time when Washington wanted a regime change in China. Hong Kong was the only place that Soros' NGO's could infiltrate, so they tried to do what the American trained Navalny tried to do in Russia , and that is to arouse the young people to protest with the hope it would lead to a greater unrest.

Syria and Ukraine come to mind.

When China gets a little stronger militarily they are going to take Taiwan, either by submission to threat, or militarily. Then watch out Japan.

When China gets stronger, (and wealthier) Taiwan will want to reunite since it will benefit them. As for Japan, maybe they better make amends for what they did to China in WWII. They live in an area that's geologically unsafe and one never knows what the future may hold. If the earthquakes there continue Japan might find itself in need of Chinese hospitality and its ghost cities.

The UK signed a treaty to have Honk Kong for 1 century. Their time ran out. Bit weird to support colonialism in this day and age. The city is simply a part of China. I wouldn't know why a country may not rule over all it's cities within their borders.

    Wrong one. :)

The Mexican-American War, waged between the United States and Mexico from 1846 to 1848, helped to fulfill America's "manifest destiny" to expand its territory across the entire North American continent.

That was a war between 2 nations. There are no 2 nations here but 1, and there is no war.

China promised not to mess with Hong Kong politics for anther 50 years after they got it back.
But it's not real clear China is forcing this. It's a Hong Cong vote - I think.

Oh, even without the personal remark.... it still would be that loads of Americans support that Trump breaks supposedly bad deals.

Hong Kong was a prosperous, Western city for over a century. The people expect Western freedoms. It is idiotic for China to think the people of Hong Kong would gladly accept a reduction of the freedoms under a brutal authoritarian government.

It's not up to a city going rogue against it's own countries sovereignty.

The issue is that Hong Kong was separate from China for over a hundred years, with different, more Western-like political traditions.

When China absorbed Hong Kong, the Chinese made some vague promises that they'd still be allowed to retain relative autonomy.

China has a much more authoritarian way of doing things.

It's very understandable citizens in Hong Kong are not happy and feeling very apprehensive.

This is actually funny. What the Japanese did to China in WW2 pales in comparison to what the Communists did to China after WW2.

Hong Kong residents are not happy about it, but it looks like they're not going to have any choice.

From what I know the laws in Hong Kong are super strict, and nothing like western laws, so I don't know what you're talking about.
