The only praise for China that I've seen on this forum has come from social conservatives, not the left. At least one conservative around here has a thread about how China will supposedly beat the US because of their authoritarian uniformity of thought.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/mar/23/italy-china-new-silk-road-belt-and-road-g7

Italy has become the first G7 country to endorse a contentious plan by Chinato build a Silk Road-style global trade network, irking its EU and US allies.

It looks like someone in the EU didnt get the message

No ... the message was get ... but when Giuseppe Conte thinks he can abuse law, then he will face the consequences. Any treaty avoiding the EU are illegal and can cause a kick out of Italy from the EU!
I tis only a provocation of an extreme right wing clown in Italy who thinks he has any power and can play Orban in Hungary .... He will very fast face the ice cold realites if he makes any serious steps in this issue... no worries!

    Right ...
And an example of how quickly something can be done by an authoritarian government in contrast to you and us ... Electro Mobility:

You have Tesla ... but how good is the coverage with corresponding charging stations for electric cars in the US, compared to normal gas stations? Probably ... let's say "modest", right?
In China, far more electro motorcycles and "scooters" registered as such with internal combustion engine ... In 2018 alone, there were 9.4 million in China ... in the US and Europe together not even 30,000!
This only works because the Chinese government has total power and orders the construction of many charging stations. This is generally true for e-mobility ... because Tesla is on the verge of being far outstripped by Chinese manufacturers, because this state / parastatal and free economic support get without end ... and the government still legislates, which the Number of coats for cars with internal combustion engine limited, but those with electric drive are of course without limitation ... and the state still supports the buyer with the equivalent of up to 10,000 EUR premium when buying ... when buying a Chinese electric car!

    Yes
    1. The Viet Cong and even the North Vietnamese were no better that Diem.
So in a country full of bastards we supported the one being invaded by the other.

    2. The Muslims had invaded the entire Mediterranean region and were spreading north. The rulers people asked for help, the crusades were that help.

The Viet Cong were not North Vietnamese ... these were communist insurgents from South Vietnam ... so citizens of South Vietnam.
yes, the VietCong was supported from the north, without question ... but "Uncle Ho" was very popular in the South ... far more popular than Diem and his successors!

Partly correct ... but the Muslims were already stopped in 732 in France.
In Eastern Europe was wieterhin war with Byzantium aka Constantinople aka "East Rome" and here, too, the corresponding muslimishcen Herscher in ME penetrated steadily.
And no ... nobody asked for help ... it was the pope who for some reason itched the fur and called for the crusade!

China is skillfully dissecting the EU

As chinas economic power grows the greed and desperation of EU members will pull them toward the Middle Kingdom and away from europe

The Viet Cong insurged to murder, kill, extort taxes and steal people for their army. Their claims on the south were illegitimate.

Mexico became an independent country from Spain in 1821. Mexicans didn't want to move to remote Texas, so they invited settlers. The 1824 Constitution was agreed upon with the Texians having full citizenship. In 1829, Mexico changed their constitution and upset the Texians. Mexico sent troops to settle things down and made it worse. This is the flag that flew over the Alamo.

The 99 year lease applied only to the New Territories. Victoria Island was seized outright by the British and didn't needt to be returned.

That was part of the unequal treaty doctrine,... where foreign powers, like the UK, but also Germany, Russia, France, Portugal and Japan who bullied China in giving up parts of their country though a "deal" with a gun to their heads were called null and void. According to Thatcher, China actually told the UK during the "negotiation" that if they wouldn't give Honk Kong and Honk Kong island,... that they would just walk in the afternoon and take it all.

Those aren't liberals. They tend to be anti-Semitic kooks who love Putin and Trump.

Speaking of Trump, I hear he gets along really well with Xi. Maybe he and Xi will make a deal for China to have Hong Kong (and maybe Taiwan as well?) in exchange for a nice little trade deal.

    What border?
    Like California and Arizona?
Hong Kong is China, get used to it.

Otherwise, go serve some time on a
Chinese Agricultural or "Apple, Inc" farm
in the western parts of China.
8 to a dorm room in the middle of "no where".

Or just enjoy the better than normal Chinese life style
and Free To Discuss anything but politics.
Oh, and pay your taxes too.

Hong Kong protesters are brats that need such a spanking!
Hong Kong is China. Get used to it.

What part do I have incorrect?

    Sorry ... but so what?

Mexico invited American New Settlers into their country - into provice of Texas - after Mexico were free and no further Spanish Colonny.
Then Mexico changed their constitution and so the laws which annoyed the American settlers in Texas because against them ... and they make a rebellion.

Soooo ... The American Settler did well and made a well reasoned rebellion in your opinion.
In fact they were simply immigrants in Mexico which uprise because the country where they moved too, changed the rules what they did not like.

I have heard of them murdering and yes they were taxed. I don't recall any events of being forced into the south vietnamese army though.

In a war between two corrupt regimes im alway going to side with the non communist side because being communist is evil. As horrible as it was the South Vietnamese were still the "good guys"

So it is still a measure of evaluation for you ... communist = automatic evil?

The whole thing has a catch: If you already support the bastards and regimes, as is often the case in Central America, long before communism was an issue for you ... who should turn to the people of the countries , with their legitimate demands for democracy, the rule of law and free elections, etc.?
There was only the Communists left, you were already out of the game because you had supported the bastards of "El Presidente"!
