The census has already been used for that purpose.

Please explain why non-US citizens should get US representation.

Should we send out 5 billion absentee ballots?

The census should not be used to hunt people down. That is not the purpose. Trump, of course, will defy any ruling to that effect since
he has no respect for our equal branches of government.

No, the purpose is to know everything about who is living here and decide how many representatives each state gets.

It asks marital status and race. They gonna use it to hunt down all the non-white people too?

    Trump isn't defying anything.

The census has had the same question in the past.

The census is used to determine how many people represent the state at the federal level.

People who are here illegally do not get to vote.

The court said the question wasn't un-Constitutional.

If the question isn't un-Constitutional, then the court can't prevent the question from going on the Census, since that's the only question the court needs to answer.

The census should not be used to hunt people down. Knowing and hunting are not synonymous.

Why shouldn't the census be used to enforce US law?

I suppose we shouldn't ask people if they belong to ISIS on immigration papers to hunt them down either.

If states weren't breaking federal law, the question would be irrelevant.

That is not what the census is for. Find another way. Many won't fill out the form with that question on it.

The census is to determine a ton of personal information about every person living in the US.

If you are a non-US citizen, what race you are, how old your house is, if you're married, etc etc.

Please explain why non-US citizens living in the US should get representation when they can't vote, and are breaking the law just by being here.

They shouldn't. If you are a citizen your second paragraph is appropos.

Then there's no valid reason the federal government can't ask if you're a citizen or not.

Of course, there is no valid reason to ask because the answer will be used to hunt down the person. Trump is acting like a snake again.
Find another way. Hire more judges, border patrol, employees, drones, a wall of some kind after research, etc. Trump won't do it because he functions under chaotic conditions.

You are confused. You should read my posts again. You imagined what I said, then criticized me for what you imagined, and your first sentence doesn't make sense.

I have been privately asked why I don't start a new thread about Trump. The answer is, because Trump isn't doing anything, and his ludicrous tweets have become ludicrously boring. No one pays any attention to them anymore. Why should I.

Despite Iran's recent provocations, Trump has done nothing except issue some empty threats and his war hawks (Pompeo and Bolton) are mute. Despite threats from North Korea following his Chamberlainesque visit to North Korea, Trump has maintained his silence. He doesn't want to remind Americans of his betrayal of our national security for a photo op.

For example, remember this moronic threat. "Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States."

    That was 20 days ago.

It was not going to be "millions." It was going to be a couple thousand. ICE doesn't warn illegal immigrants of a coming raid. Trump told the whole world about it. Trump delayed the raid for two weeks.

Three weeks later, the raid still hasn't happened -- probably because Trump let the cat out of the bag, making the raids useless -- and there is nothing to indicate the raids will ever happen.

That said, ICE probably is keeping Trump out of the loop. They don't want him to warn the immigrants again.

See what I mean? Nothing is happening. I would just as soon Trump kept it that way. He is a walking catastrophe.

    Sure.

Why the question is on there is irrelevant.

The only relevancy the court has to the question is "is it Constitutional"? If the answer is yes, then the feelings of the leftist who makes the decision doesn't matter.

    You know.

    Just like the "muslim ban".

Pompeo finally reacted to the steps Iran is taking as she surpassed a limit of 3.67 percent uranium enrichment. The enrichment level is now above 4.5 percent.

    Secretary Pompeo @SecPompeo

Iran’s latest expansion of its nuclear program will lead to further isolation and sanctions. Nations should restore the longstanding standard of no enrichment for Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s regime, armed with nuclear weapons, would pose an even greater danger to the world.

We already had such an agreement. Trump destroyed it.

Iran continues as a national security threat to the U.S. Pompeo tweets, and Trump tells Iran she "better be careful."

Britain is our longest and most reliable ally. Today, Trump booted out the British ambassador. "I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the U.S.," Trump wrote on Twitter. "We will no longer deal with him."

While all this is going on, Trump gave a speech today ... on the environment and the fires in California last year. He strode into the room to the accompaniment of "Hail to the Chief." It was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. It reminded me of a Peter Sellers movie.

Oh, and the speech was filled with lies. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/08/fact-check-trumps-environmental-claims-1573352

Trump is a sick man. He lives in a world all his own.

Nevertheless, I am quite certain his fans enjoyed the speech. They, too, are not fans of reality.

Only an idiot holds a news conference with chopper blades whirling away in the background. Trump does it consistently for some bizarre reason.

It is easy to see who Trump's friends are on the world's stage.

    And his enemies.

Referring to the communist dictator of North Korea, “I was really being tough - and so was he. And we would go back and forth,” Trump told a rally in West Virginia. "And then we fell in love, okay? No, really - he wrote me beautiful letters, and they’re great letters,” he said.

At Helsinki Trump met another friend, his patron, the communist dictator of Russia. "I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today," Trump said during a joint news conference.

At the Group of 20 meeting in Osaka, Japan, Trump joked with his friend. He lifted a finger, pointed it at Putin while smirking and joked, “Don’t meddle in the election.”

Speaking of the communist dictator of China, Trump tweeted, "President Xi and I will always be friends, no matter what happens with our dispute on trade."

Speaking of the British ambassador to the U.S., "I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the US. We will no longer deal with him," Trump tweeted.

Speaking ot the British prime minister, "I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way. The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!" Trump said.

For over a hundred years, Britain has been our longest, most powerful, and most reliable ally.

Putin to Trump, "You are doing a hell of a job, Donnie."

The Obama Iran agreement was a disaster and benefited Iran more than anything...

You are reaching. From your source:

Editor's Note: This article is part of a debate about whether to stay in the Iran deal. Read the other entries here.

This is a typical attack on Obama by a Trump Republican. The writer avoids the real issue. Iran was permanently barred from making a nuke according to the experts, the IAEA. The writer wanders into areas not covered by the treaty, just as Trump did.

Most would take the judgment of the IAEA over this guy every time.

I have been asked several times, regarding the Iranian crisis, what would you have Trump do?

My answer: I haven't the slightest idea.

We have never had a President who withdraws the United States from an agreement that is working, then punishes the adversary with economic sanctions because he withdrew our country from the agreement. The adversary, Iran, was in compliance with the agreement when Trump withdrew.

Now Iran is duplicating Trump's decision. She is violating the provisions of the deal. In addition, she has threaten oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and shot down a very sophisticated American surveillance aircraft. Trump has done virtually nothing, and he and his staff say very little. What they do say makes little sense because Trump's decision is the root of the problem.

So, what does he do now? I have no idea. Our allies and Iran are still part of the agreement. Maybe they can do something.

In the meantime, it is the U.S. vs. Iran vs. our allies vs. the U.S. Thanks a heap, Mr. President.

As time goes on Trump is getting worse.

Trump continued his fight with America's strongest, longest, and most reliable ally. "The wacky Ambassador that the U.K. foisted upon the United States is not someone we are thrilled with, a very stupid guy. I told @theresa_may how to do that deal, but she went her own foolish way-was unable to get it done. A disaster!. I don't know the Ambassador but have been told he is a pompous fool," Trump tweeted.

Trump wants to deny 20 million Americans of health coverage, including those with preexisting conditions. A panel of federal appeals court judges on Tuesday sounded likely to uphold a lower-court ruling that a central provision of the Affordable Care Act — the requirement that most people have health insurance — is unconstitutional.

Neither Trump nor the Republican Party have a plan to replace the ACA, or Obamacare.

Trump has placed his DOJ in an impossible position. First of all, the DOJ and the current Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, had already signed off on the citizenship question on the census and began printing the forms without the question pursuant to a Supreme Court decision on the issue. This changed with a Trump tweet, then Trump decided he wanted to change lawyers within the Justice Department.

The courts shot Trump down again. A federal judge in New York has denied a request by the Trump administration to replace its legal team in a lawsuit challenging the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman called "patently deficient" the Department of Justice's effort to change out the lawyers, who have been working on the case for more than a year.

    https://www.npr.org/2019/07/07/7393...-team-behind-census-citizenship-question-case

The DOJ legal team is forced to say that everything they have said so far is in error -- including the July 1st deadline -- and they still must come up with a legitimate reason, not a political reason, for the question to be included on the census.

Judges don't like it when lawyers change their tune after the dance is over.

And the dance is over. Trump just doesn't know it.

Is this it Sandy? Will this finally bring Trump down? I would think a good registered Republican like you would support following what previous census (with the exception of Obama who dropped the long form) questions have asked. Is there some reason you are afraid of gaining knowledge?

I read more of your source. It barely talked about the JCPOA. The article was a major assault on Obama, and it was filled with lies and personal insults. Reading it was a waste of time.

The agreement was working and Trump destroyed it. That is a fact and beyond question. That this is the best you can come up with proves my point.
