No actually there wasn't.I love certain Jewish Deli's.There was one about
a 20 minute drive from my neighborhood.About 5 minutes down the road
from my Catholic Grade school { Parochial run by the Domincans order of
Nuns }. I still think of that Deli and there handmade sandwiches. They had
a Salmon Sandwich with Thousand Island dressing { like on
a Reuben sandwich } that was to die for.The guys who ran the Deli
used to add up in their head and write down real quick on the paper
wrapper with a pencil what the tab came to.I was always amazed at their
math efficiency.I used to think ... If only I could add numbers that quick
and effortlessly.I worked as a Rate Analyst in downtown Cleveland after
my Grandmom was left no choice but to sell her Trucking Co.
All the Nephews and Nieces got a check from Grandma for $ 34,ooo.
That was a good amount of scratch back in the mid 70's.
Grandma was very picky about making sure no one spent that money.
It was to be put into a Savings acct.I managed to sneak out enough
to pay off my fist motorcycle. My Grandmother was a Hero of mine.
I dint know it till after she died.Funny how that stuff works.

Why can't vehicle manufacturers all decide to put the reverse gear in the same place? I've been retired for about a month. Half of the times that I want to back up, I'm still putting the transmission into first gear.

On a related note, I occasionally put the key in my left hand and stab the lower part of the dashboard.

Answer me this.I tend to buy manual transmission vehicles.
I Like to shift.Plus up until a couple years ago most all motorcycles
    had only manual transmissions.Now a lot of bikes { Goldwing included }
have automatic shifting.Plus Manual if chosen.
Why is 2nd gear always the most troublesome gear on a manual
transmission. The hardest gear to smoothly shift into_Often by far the most
picky gear to shift into.It could be the linkage. But I doubt it.
    I bought a new motorcycle a couple months ago.I have to re-train
myself on the art of Rev Matching. This new bike has a slipper clutch
but the gearbox is noisy.Rev Matching helps reduce wear on a clutch
and gearbox. On new engines it is not advisable to go with a full
synthetic oil as first oil change. But I said screw-it.I put Mobil One
in at 520 miles. On a Bike with a wet clutch { Engine oil is used for the
clutch } instead of like a Harley with their notorious Dry Clutch design.
Again ... Why is 2nd gear the hardest gear to shift into.?

I dunno. Why does the label in my hat read: "80% Cotton, 20% Plant Fiber"?

On motorcycles, it's probably because the 1st to 2nd shift passes through neutral.

No one can make Ruebens like a Jewish deli.A couple of blocks from where I worked in Coral Gables there was a Jewish restaurant that made the best matzo ball soup. There were quite a few Jewish Restaurants on Miami Beach they weren't nearly as good as the one in the Gables.

Okey dokey Danny. Then where should neutral be placed.?
If not the middle of the shift pattern. On motorcycles it was due to
safety. But then Hot Rods of the 60's and yer British MGB's used
    neutral in the same location.

I think it mostly psychological.Like the way a schoolyard bully
operates.Meaning it involves being nefarious and snidely.

I just listened to this again. I still cant get past the staccato part of his singing this without water in my eyes. Its so beautiful.
His voice is one of the most amazingly beautiful voices Ive ever heard. His range and control is amazing. What a gift.

Such crap they call music today.

One week is not long enough, you need at least six weeks of pampering. You still have 5 weeks and one day of pampering left.

There are good delis in every large city now, but NYC is the gold standard. Even the cheapest ones are good.

During my annual sojourn to the NY/NJ area, there are certain foods... oh wait, I posted a picture of the Taylor ham, egg & cheese sandwich. Add pizza and bagels (and lox) to that list. Necessities!

It looks like I'm adding to my workload.

The cops say that it helps them to build trust among the homeless population if they can give out free stuff. I'm working a deal between them and our general store. The store says that they'll give me a discount for buying socks, in bulk, for the cops to give away. I plan to get toenail clippers to go with the socks.

The advantage of a well established authentic Jewish Deli is
twofold.Jewish people like to complain. And complaining about food
prepared and served is almost an American Pasttime.
Jewish Deli's get choice meats used for cold cuts.Like the kind seen
at Harrads in London and their massive Food Courts.Plus Jewish Deli's
are not privy to the latest food fads.
Plus corned beef is really not much different than a good Ham.

    I need ideas.

There is a local homeless help center. She says that underwear is a need. She says that people use their underwear for toilet paper, then throw it away and do without. I think that this is unacceptable.

I'm thinking about providing biodegradable toilet paper and waxed paper bags. Does anyone have a better idea?

Just remember, you can provide everything you think they need, but nothing can force them to use it.

Provide a case of TP, and see how it goes. Remember, you can deduct donations as such, so that can help offset some of the costs. Packages of inexpensive underwear, t-shirts, and if your willing, women's sanitary needs. Toothbrushes, toothpaste. These are things that a lot of people don't think of for the homeless.

You're doing a good thing, don't ever lose sight of the little bit your doing, may be a very big thing for the recipient.
