It didn’t fail, everyone that owns one will not turn it it — it is to be expected.
They are planning numerous buyback rounds before they start with prosecution.

Prosecuting people for not turning over their private property is evil.

    Just the truth.
    Gun grabbers are evil people.
Their arguments are lies and distortions of facts.

    The citizens of NZ disagree.
As did the north with southern slaves

The citizens of New Zealand are wrong..

Dunno what this has to do with slavery.

    That’s your opinion.
They seem to feel the mass shootings made easier by certain weapons to be what is wrong and have made steps to correct the issue.

Well their opinion is wrong and therefore invalid. Pursuing invalid means to take what is not theirs is evil.

Yes, certain types of gun are not suitable/compatible with society. Yes, those that are safe with guns, have any type of gun they want but society doesn't work like that. You have to play to the 1% that are hopeless/dangerous and you have to walk with the slowest person to keep society moving.

I'm not aware of any country banning guns, I'm only aware of many countries taking guns and regulation seriously.

Why was the New Zealand government selling these guns in the first place? Otherwise how could it be a buy back? Oh right, its actually confiscation with a smile. New Zealand deserves whatever it gets, just don't whine to the US, you gave up your right to defend yourselves from tyranny...

Who the hell needs semi and full automatic weapons? For what.
True, tax them to the max to discourage ownership. 5k per year for a semi and 10k per year for a full automatic weapon is a start.
The citizens did not vote, there was no referendum.

It's still wrong. No one is entitled to act for other people on a wrong opinion.

No government has any rights whatsoever.
What government has is laws, laws are VERY different than rights.

Guns are taxed. At least mine, from where I am. I am okay with it.
What I don't like is that the gun vault(unloaded is required) must be 20m away from the ammo vault, and it makes reaction and response time v bad if needs be(thieves let's say). These laws.. Oh well.

I proposed huge taxes to discourage the ownership of war type guns instead of confiscation.

Back at you, why semi and full automatic weapons in the hands of citizens? I don't need an AK47 to hunt big game. I don't need an AK47 to defend myself.

I am okay with civilian militias having them though like in the case of Swiss army, which is made of most citizens, dormant and in reserve.

It doesn't matter what you are ok with. You don't get a say in what other people can have with or without a need for it because it's a constitutional right.
An individual constitutional right not a right for militias
Also an ar 15 is not a military style rifle it's a semiautomatic sporting rifle. And typically they fire a .223 cartridge which is small and of low power.

My 30 06 is a much more devastating round.

    Automatic rifles are

I think we should tax bare hands, because they cause more deaths than rifles.

The best thing we could do is abolish all gun laws regarding types of weapons, ammo and magazines.

    Background checks are fine.

EVIL?, what a huge misuse of a word. How ridiculous.
How can the removal of a human destroying weapon be an evil act?

Correct, Governments over ride personal decisions often, no matter which Government. You cannot own a fighter aircraft WITH air to air missiles for example ….can you?
