I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you. If you think cutting taxes = subsidies, you = box of rocks.

This would be funny if there was actually a real resemblance between the two.

The joke is really good, I just don't see anything like this coming from AOC about Native Americans because she is very PC.

I still think AOC is haut.. but I'm married so it is entirely moot, besides she might open her mouth and say something stupid and ruin it.

The following writing is kind of serious.... but kind of funny as well.... .since it reacts to ideas put forward by A. O. C.

    Rabbi Shaul Marshall Praver's campaign....

For the hard of thinking: not claiming money that is owed is the same as giving that money away.

No one owes the ****ing government a ****ing dime. The government is not the primary entity in this country, the citizen is. The government owes its citizens an accounting for all the money it takes and wastes.

He won't understand, doesn't know our most important right is the right to have property and not have it seized by the government.

So you pay no taxes? Remarkable! How do you stay out of prison? How do you buy anything without paying sales tax? I'm beyond impressed! The gov't maintains schools, roads, police, fire depts, national defense, and a court system to keep you from being victimized. But you don't feel obligated for any of that. Your lack of conscience amazes me. You should take it on the road and display it. Maybe killing kittens would do the trick.

Gotta do better than a denial without backup. I once lent my brother $100. He never paid me back. how is that different from a gift?

Of course I pay taxes. But no, I don't feel "obligated" for any of that, those are the proper functions of a government. Any government that failed to do those things would be quickly replaced by one that did. It is, after all, why we pay taxes, not because we owe the government anything but because we're paying for the services government provides. The government is nothing but a kind of business, and if we don't like the services that business provides, we can shop elsewhere. We owe Sears nothing, we owe government nothing. Government owes us.

I rather feel my conscience is a handicap, since I don't go around killing kittens. Psychopaths tend to do a lot better in life than those of us with a conscience.

So you admit the gov't is entitled to taxes in exchange for services. Therefore those who do not pay their fair share are not contributing to the common good. Exxon, for instance, paid no tax in 2016. How do you justify a multibillion dollar corporation making billions in profit paying no tax? This is idiocy on the part of our gov't at best, criminal conspiracy at worst.

Are you at all familiar with the tax code? Because there are numerous ways that a multibillion dollar corporation can go without paying taxes, like GM lost billions of dollars a year for almost a decade before declaring bankruptcy. They made billions in sales, but spent far more billions than they made. Second, a company that has overwhelming losses in one year can opt to write that loss forward into future earnings years, so that if they made one billion dollars this year and lost two billion dollars last year, they can write that loss forward and declare a net income of zero for this year and pay no taxes. Third, a company can invest so much money in future earnings that they end up spending all or more than their profit. This ends up being a net loss as far as income taxes go so that they end up not owing anything on their tax bill. The government will still get that money, though, because of the increased value of the company down the road. Fourth, a company can write off capital assets and reduce the value of their income. This is related to #3. Since capital assets are not used up in the year that they are bought, not all the money for their purchase can be taken off of a single year's income. Instead, that cost must be pro-rated over several years (depreciation). If a company made $10 billion last year and bought capital assets of $1 billion, that $1 billion will be taken off of the company's taxes for the next five, seven, ten, or even twenty years on a pro-rata basis. If the company writes off $200 million of the $1 billion in year 2 but only earns $200 million in income that year, the company will pay no taxes that year. This is all part of the tax code and there's nothing sneaky or underhanded or illegal about it. Your hurt feelings because a multibillion dollar company didn't pay any taxes don't matter.

Dude, look up Exxon's taxes for 2016. You re way offbase. Exxon didn't declare losses for any year, made huge profits and avoided paying any tax on those profits. Not saying it's illegal, just saying it's unfair to the rest of us who actually do pay taxes.

I honestly don't care. If you don't like the tax code, run for office. The problem with the government is not companies or individuals paying too little, it's the government spending too much. Government spending needs to be cut in half, or three quarters, even.

Wait... Is it actually true that AOC has a degree in Economics or is it just the genius of good old Wikipedia trolls in play?

I see a lot of references to it, but I've also seen one quote saying that she has changed her website to now say her degree was in International Relations. So there's some question there. Someone posted that a minor in econ. at Boston Univ. is very easy to qualify for.

The question at hand was whether the Wikipedia article was accurate. Quoting the Wikipedia article doesn't clear that up.
