When Chad Robichaux the founder of a Christian group that helps veteran overcome war time trauma tried to upload a YouTube ad for his organization, he was told that the keyword “Christian” was no longer acceptable under the site’s ad targeting policy.

Chad tried the same ad using the word Muslim, and there was no problem. If the group advertised without the word Christian, then wouldn't it be deceptive - and wouldn't there be legal consequences and probably law suits? Just speculating!

Then is the real intent would be to stop the funds from going to groups emphasizes Christianity to help the victims, rather than a secular group that might not be as affective?

Probably to our Founding Father. I can picture them turning in their graves. They were all Seminarians.

I'm an atheist. I see an issue with it. That said, it's a business and they can do that if they please. Banning words from major outlets is an incredibly childish way to force an agenda. I have no problems with religions.

I wonder the outrage if they banned "muslim"- from your party.

Actually I was thinking in terms of someone donating without knowing it was a Christian group, and suing them over it. This would have a fear affect on all Christian charities which might be the actual intent of the ban. But again, I'm just speculating.

Surely it is protecting Christians from being targeted by advertisers? The ad specifically states that they want money from Christians. That is playing on their fears

They did not ban the word Christian from their ads. The ad can still contain the word. What they were blocked from doing was targeting the search keyword for boosting their ad. I'm going to wait for more info myself, but the way it is being sold is BS, so be careful.

If anyone touches the word Muslim, to ban it, you know the Allah Ackbar's are going to go insane and kill someone.

Not here on Political Forum.com. On Youtube. The "Christian" word was banned in an ad by YouTube. And a poster asked what would happen if they banned the word "muslim." Did you read the opening post?

No, it wasn't. Not even on YouTube. The word was allowed in the ad, they just couldn't bid on it as a keyword for triggering the ad. Yeah, I read the opening post. The title is badly misleading.

For more reference for folks, "keywords" are not words that you can or can't include in the wording of your ad. In both Google and YouTube, you select keywords for your ad based on when you want your ad to be displayed in response to a search. If you select "christian" as a keyword it means you want your ad to show up when people search for the word "christian." It has nothing to do with what words actually appear in the wording of the ad itself. You typically bid on these words based on how much you are willing to pay per click on the ad or pay per number of impressions. The more you pay, the more likely your ad is to show up.

They would have actually been deeply against it:
Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man - Thomas Jefferson
The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason - Ben Franklin
This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it - John Adams
Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst - Thomas Paine
Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise - James Madison
