I don't understand how people can allow themselves to become so filled with hate. It seems like such a waste.

Maybe I'm not interested enough to read the court's decision. From reading some posts here, that looks like what the decision was.

No. Just that there was no malicious defamation. Actual malicious defamation is illegal.

No there wasn’t. That’s why it was dismissed.

He went in too high. If he tried for a million and got $750k of something that would have been fine. The big issue here is a media organization completely lying and trying to destroy a private citizen when he did absolutely NOTHING wrong. And then they continued to lie even after the truth came out. That’s the problem. It was vindictive and cruel. They’re scumbags.

But there wasn’t, which is why the case was dismissed.

What a shock, Trumpers not defending the 1st amendment in this case.

    So predictable.

Slander isn't a first amendment right.

The ruling referenced the 1st Amendment....

    there was no slander.

Like I said, what a shock that Trumpers are not defending 1st Amendment rights in this case.

I can only guess that you didn't read your own link or you wouldn't be celebrating.

The judge stated that it was dismissed because Sandmann wasn't mentioned by name.

I'm guessing this doesn't make cnn feel any better. Didn't sandmann file lawsuit against them too. Pretty sure they gladly splashed his name all over the place.

What lesson? That if an ******** person comes up to you and starts yelling in your face and the person is of some "minority" group and you are white then you must give way to this person and allow them to bully you?

A Native American was beating a drum in a white teenagers face. Pretty equivalent to screaming.

No it's in the video, the complete video. Why is it OK to call a child a racist when there was no evidence of racism at all? Why was a child fair game for this arse who walked right up to him and got in his face, a child.

The Judge is wrong, for several reasons, the judge will be overturned on appeal. He attempted to adjudicate issues that are rightfully handled by the Jury. The next court up will reverse.

And what an ugly issue this was.

In the Covington Catholic fiasco Native American activist Nathan Phillips sought media exposure and careerist advantage by deliberately confronting a group of young Catholic students on the National Mall. Phillips hoped the resulting staged optics would show privileged, male, young, white Christians with red MAGA hats haranguing a wizened Native American elder and Vietnam veteran.

Phillips succeeded in his quest for universal victim status, media exposure, and the demonization of the Covington school students, despite being quickly exposed as a faker who never set foot in Vietnam and a serial racial provocateur.

Most of the media bought his ruse and have retreated to the usual fallback defense for faked racist accusations: in a racist America, the charges could in theory have been true, and therefore that they were demonstrably not true this time means little.
