If Jeremy Corbyn wanted to be the PM, he should legalise recreational marijuana

    but he hasn't promised it.

He seems so desperate to become the PM, so why doesn't he make a winning promise?

Other progressive countries all over the world are, and Jeremy Corbyn should be promising that here.

But instead all he cares about is a Communist agenda to make UK a command economy and promising more taxes such as the Robin Hood tax and forcing government to control railways and water (and he wonders why he's not the Prime Minister).

Even the survey linked (which was initiated by a pro-legalisation organisation) suggests a very mixed picture and probably doesn’t take account of likelihood of voting in to account. Regardless of whether it would be right or wrong, a policy for complete legalisation for recreational use would be highly controversial and distract from pretty much any other policy a party or candidate might put forwards. That is essentially the reason no major politician has brought it up.

I think a much more positive approach would be to logically decouple medical use and recreational use to allow the former to progress more quickly without the (undue but very real) stigma and take a gentler but more viable path on recreational use, promoting the idea of treating drug use as a medical rather than criminal matter and promoting decriminalisation rather than full legalisation (at least in the short term). Of course, the problem you face with that is the extreme wing who want complete freedom and unconditional legalisation without question, but then they’d complain when they found out how much government regulation and limitation a likely system of legalisation would result in.

Because if he legalises marijuana, all his supporters will be too zonked out of their heads to vote for him.

I smoke weed everyday and I would never advocate for it to be completely legal. Medicinal oil, yes. Smoking, hell no.

It's illegal in UK but not in some places in the world, why?

Why should it be illegal in UK when it's not illegal in other places?

To be clear, I said completely legal, as in free to smoke anywhere, anytime any place. I think it should be decriminalised but not legal in a sense of the word.

Plus, I am of the opinion it would add further weight onto our already shocking mental health services.

Last I heard it was the prisons that was shocking in the UK, not mental health, 'it would add further weight onto our already shocking mental health services.' - where do you get that from?

What on Earth are you talking about? The prisons in the UK are far too lenient, yes. But we have very poor mental health services in this country.

What? I heard they're underfunded and stretched; with now criminals gangs infiltrating them pumping our prisons with drugs like heroine and spice.

In England and Wales atleast, IDK.

Legalise the weed, decriminalise it, save prison spaces; however, I still don't know where you got that our mental health was stretched?

Agree with the first line completely, add to that radical Islam.

Our mental health services are shocking. I would have to dig out some supporting data but our policy is, "Oh you're depressed? Have a tablet. See ya!" - Completely inadequate in today's age.

We can start with this, the problem is worse in England than in the rest of the UK. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-41125009
