The right side of the issue is the constitutional side not the popular side..
We live is a constitutional republic not a democracy!

Fox is a reputable polling organization that called the 2016 and 2018 elections correctly. Polling isn't some new science. For every "Dewey Defeats Truman" there's about a million "Mondale loses in a landslide". The polls usually get it right.

Can't you even read your own Poll? Fox didn't do it. It was farmed out.

Good God man you even posted it and don't know that?

From reading it they do an excellent job in hiding the actual political leanings of the people they polled.

There are no counts of overall Dems vs Republicans polled yet they identify them by percentage of their answers but never the overall +- which is very telling.

Semi-auto is a self-reloading gun that shoots once per trigger pull.
Almost all handguns and revolvers are semi-automatic weapons.
If this poll was truly conducted then it was conducted by an amateur who didn’t know what they were talking about.

Are some of you this far down the rabbit hole, you think Fox is skewing things in FAVOR of gun control? Or just making **** up? Really? Fox is pro-gun control?

    Come on.

OK, are you for an assault weapon ban, and how would you enforce it given the vast majority of owners won't turn them in?

I lost all mine in a tragic boating accident, wink.

Very few on the left want full socialism but some socialist style programs are needed in an advanced economy

Very few on the left want open borders they just disagree that building a massive wall will do anything long term

A universal healthcare option was always the goal

Very few people want to take all guns, they just want sensible regulations, and upon every shooting that number increases

And your quote is wrong, it’s “There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”. A quote made by another republican stable genius.

Their dream world is a disarmed US population, other than some registered bolt action hunting rifles, shotguns, and .22s, Google and FB strictly censoring free expression, and a solid liberal majority on the SCOTUS to sprinkle holy water on it all.

I just read the link - your title is misleading. People are against “assault-style” rifles. I didn’t see the mention of semi-automatic weapons.

As a handgun owner myself, I see little reason for anyone to own AR-15. If libs get them banned, I won’t be crying too much (albeit just shrug, wondering what difference that would make).
Handguns, shotguns and hunting rifles should stay legal.

WOW! FauX news says 67% favor an assault rifle ban ?

That means the real number must be close to 80%.

Is sanity breaking out in conservitania ? Nah, I’m sure it’s just temporary.

Stopping production would be the first step.
Then comes stopping production of the ammo.

It’s not an overnight solution but over time will become more and more effective, even without buyback programs.
Sure, some people have stockpiled ammo and replacement parts but the vast majority haven’t.

And for the record, I’m against a “ban” but am very much for gun owners having to have insurance, stricter background checks, and requiring people that sell used weapons to go through a dealer who would have to check the new buyers background. If a gun is used in a crime registered to you, you should be charged for failure to reregister it plus the weapon is seized and destroyed. Treat it somewhat like a car.

What is the difference between someone shooting 30 people in the head with .22 vs shooting 30 people in the head with .223? The answer is there isn't. Dead is dead.

And how is that going to stop criminals from getting weapons?

If a criminal cannot buy them how else do they get them? Theft will always be an issue I guess but much less of one if irresponsible gun owners are held responsible.

The issue isn’t the ammo (although velocity and impact damage might be considered), or even really the gun itself, it’s the rate of fire.

Ban it, offer really good buy-back incentives, and hope it does some good in the future. What's the downside? People who own them can still own them. Assault weapons are great if you plan on someday fighting the military. In everyday circumstances, they're terrible. You can't carry it concealed, and it's ridiculously too powerful to use for self-defense in an apartment or house.

They buy them on the street, the same way they buy drugs.

We can't even keep guns out of prisons.

IF there is an inalienable right to bare arms (confirmed in 2A,) stuffed if I can see how that can in any way be abridged. There is only way way ultimately....2A has to go or be significantly amended/clarified.

But effective against a tyrannical government, like the Founders worried about.

The Clinton DOJ said the AWB had no impact on crime.

The Columbine shooting was done with 10-round magazines.
