What can be done to change this type of law? Would we need to go through state legislators. I think people should be charged only with acts that they carry out.

That would be reckless discharge of a firearm. If you shoot a gun in the US you had better be *******ned sure of your backstop (unless you're a cop in which case you're immune so go nuts) . Firing into the air? Per se reckless endangerment of the public at large. Shot into the floor? Same, ricochets occur endangering not the person who was endangering you and thus game for a bullet.
You shoot the person, you shoot them center mass because you're using deadly force and intending to kill or you're not authorized to use a gun because a gun is per se deadly force. No shooting them in the leg or the arm or hollywood BS.

Most of my sources are off the record from ATF agents and LE.

I also have eyes and ears when on the streets of California.

California’s Tough Gun Laws Make Trafficking Illegal Firearms A Lucrative Business, Former Smuggler Says
    https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/loc...-Business-Former-Smuggler-Says-474510463.html

Then there are the "ghost guns" that are heavily in demand by smart criminals. Guns that can't be traced.
The number one source of ghost guns are from the international gun traffickers and most ghost guns are manufactured in China and the P.I.'s

So profitable and in such high demand by the criminal underground, gangs in California are now manufacturing ghost assault weapons.

California might be the most business unfriendly state in America except when it comes to the gun trafficking business.

It was the California progressive state legislature who created this industry in California.

That's the way it works. If someone dies while you are committing a felony, you are going to get a murder charge.

There is already a way to avoid being penalized by such a law, dont go out committing felonies.

I think people should be held responsible for the consequences of their actions. A murder charge when one of the consequences is a death seems reasonable to me.

They ARE charged with tasks they carried out - they were part of a group of people that was committing felony and the act resulted in death of one of them.
So, they are all charged with appropriate crime.
I’m a resident of Illinois and think it’s a good law. Why should anyone change it?

That is in conflict with what someone else said....that burglars are hestitant to enter an occupied home because homes are bristling with guns and people willing to use them.

That is why many come in armed, shoot them as soon as they cross the threshold.

14 year olds tend not to know about such dire consequences. Seems like an excessively tough pill for a teenager to swallow ... too harsh and the law should be changed, IMO.

Charging a 14 year old with murder will result in a lockup till the kid becomes an adult.

In all realities, if none of them are charged as adults, they’ll be out with clean record at age of 18.

Are they being charged with murder? Reserve that charge for people who would actually commit such a violent act.

A hat-tip to the liberals brave enough to come on and post on what is the quintessentially conservative topic. I get so tired of reading threads and having to watch my side try to defend the latest Tweet by Mr Trump.

To any conservatives I've offended by saying that, and also to all the others: you can see how our liberal friends think.
This will be how everyone in America will be taught to think, or else. It's how the politicians, judges, police-persons, journalists will think.

This sort of event is the hardest edge of social reality, and throw the most light on Leftist crazyness.

The effective right of self defense will be among the last things to go, since individuals have a strong sense of self preservation.

But don't fool yourselves. Your guns are going to go, policemen will be afraid to enforce the law, little boys will be encouraged to play with dolls and not guns.
Even the technology of warfare is evolving in a direction that doesn't require 'toxic masculinity'.

There is no stopping this trend. Wishful thinking about a return to the Old America is worse than useless. It will paralyze you, while you sit and think,
"Whoa, now they've reached the limit ... they can't get any crazyer than this!" But they can. (Did you just say "crazy"? Do you realize how hurtful that is
to some people's self image? Who are we to judge ...)

    We've got to get out.

It doesn’t matter if any one of them pulled the trigger - their collective acts resulted in death. You were on a lookout and you buddy got shot? Well, you contributed to the situation, so you are charged with murder. That’s because maybe without you your pals would stay home.

Judging from Philadelphia shooting I think we should also get 3 strikes law, maaaaaaybe expand it to 5 strikes.

My pointing out that 18 is hardly "much older" than 15 is sexist? You'll have to explain that one to me

Wrong. My friend came home after work to fine a group of kid in his house. they were robbing the house while his wife was sleeping in the bedroom. He ran them out of the house and told them to go home. Then one turned around and shot him dead in his own driveway. He was a great guy and very anti-gun. You never know what their intent is until they pull the trigger and then it doesn't matter because you or your loved one is dead.
