Impeached for what? For winning the election, or because you don't like him. You realize that if they ever tried something like that we would end up in a civil war?

I don't think they're going to like that.

You haven't answered my question. Impeach Trump for what?

We do have air bases in Greenland, probably as compensation by Denmark for not selling it to us outright. Right now there are political implications around the Arctic, and Moscow sees it as the next flashpoint. They have massed bases there to protect their territorial claims. As for Washington, it doesn't have much legitimacy being in the Arctic except for the waters around Alaska. Of course if we owned Greenland, then the situation would be different.

Scientists, recognising that it looks like humans are not going to get off their arse quick enough to save humanity are working out ideas to try to save some as a relic of humanity at the Arctic. Greenland may also stay habitable for some time. It makes sense that Trump who says he does not believe in climate catastrophe, will nonetheless be wanting somewhere safe for himself and his family....or maybe he is wanting as Pompeo says to live it up making as much money as possible and destroying the planet to the end. Denmark and the civilians of Greenland are far too smart to allow that...but it will come very soon that we will have wars for the few pieces of land that may remain habitable.

Of course if we did get off our arses and give the situation the attention and money it needs, a lot of the US would still remain habitable. I was hearing on the news tonight that US fracking is responsible for most of the methane which has been coming up unexpectedly early.

US attacking a NATO member is probably not the greatest of ideas. We'd be obligated to defend them against our own attack.

I was looking at this map and realized that there is an area claimed by Greenland that goes right up to the Russian waters. If Greenland belonged to us then it could be fully militarized against the Russians - with maybe a few missiles here and there. Now that should make the peace loving Danes really happy.

Fracking makes holes in the earth that can never be closed and earthquakes do occur wherever there are weak points in the crust. We have tens of thousands of them all over the country, but with the bad there is some good - or at least in the US. The earthquakes are miniscule and they do allow an escape of pressure from building up at the New Madras fault - something which could cause a catastrophe of Biblical proportions. Not only would major cities such as Saint Louis and Nashville be destroyed but also the major artery that crossed the Mississippi and feeds the East.

To understand the enormity of it, during the quakes at the beginning of 19th century, church bells could be heard ringing in Boston a thousand miles away. The earth was shaking for 6 months, and the mighty Mississippi even ran backwards. At the time the area wasn't populated so the damage was miniscule compared to what it would be today. One town though did sink, and the area is now a lake.

Anyway I don't think that's the problem with the climate. Other than the earth heating up, I think it has to do with the earth's axis. It tilted a bit during the earthquake in Indonesia, and probably a little more with the Japanese one. Lately though some people noticed that the sun is not rising and setting in the same place as before, so maybe it tilted again. If it did, that would mean the sun is closer now in the summer than it was before, and further away in the winter.

You were doing fine until that last paragraph. The axial tilt is not that appreciably affected by earthquakes. Such changes are too minuscule to have any effect on climate.

Hmm I took the time to reply and it disappeared. Grrr.

Jeanette, I am not talking about the problems that Fracking gives to US citizens. I am talking about the reality that a new study suggests it is US Fracking not cows who are causing the massive rise in methane gas which is far more destructive to this planet than carbon dioxide.
On the other hand it could get sorted out quite quickly too...but that will not happen in the United States of America the country which has caused the most destruction to our planet and who currently on the level of Government is not only refusing to take responsibility for what it has done and use its money to sort things out for people who are for instance already suffering massive limitation on the most basic of human resources, water in both South Africa and India and so on but has set new laws to deprive the people of the US the truth on the climate, extinction etc.

    On Fracking

    https://www.theguardian.com/environ...causing-rise-in-methane-emissions-study-finds

The irony is that if the US had the morality to take responsibility for its actions rather than making the very richest particularly those involved in fossil fuel more rich, they could sort this out pretty quick.

    https://www.theguardian.com/environ...causing-rise-in-methane-emissions-study-finds

But they won't. We are already past the point where we can hope to maintain the kind of society we have now. What we are experiencing now is from harm done 20-30 years aoo. The worst has been done in those years and we have yet to feeg the consequenses.

I have a buo in my type so wigg stop there!

Impeached for his high crimes and misdemeanors. No, there will not be any civil war. There might be some more right-wing terrorists who are self-radicalized and radicalized by Russian agents online, but nothing resembling a civil war.

    Fracking also pollutes ground water,
separated from such harvested pollutants by strata -
destroying the integrity of the strata that separate
    quality, fresh ground water from . . . .

I co own ranch land that was effected during the
drought but got more latitude because the deeds went way, way back.
To Witness Governor Brown award water for "fracking" rather

than preserving orchards causes me to wonder, WHAT DID HE REPRESENT?
Just a year or two of that water would have preserved orchards that take
near a decade from planting to production!

There is no shortage of natural gas.
    Stop Fracking!

What a contemptuous thing to say about our most peaceful neighbor for over a century. What kind of friend do you think you are? You appear from your post, to be just as cold hearted & self serving as Trump himself. You don't represent MY America.

Poor, confused Liberals. They probably spoke the same way as you do when Alaska purchase was first contemplated.

    Right?

You can speculate, or you can do some research and find out what they said. It is up to you.

The least you could do, is look up who the Danish People's Party are before ignorantly calling them liberal. It is the Danish right-wing / anti-immigration party.

"The Danish People's Party is a political party in Denmark that is generally described as right-wing populist by academics and far-right by international media. It has also been described in academia and the media as a nativist and anti-immigrant party."

Denmark cannot decide to sell, or not sell because they wrote a law in 2009 giving the Greenlanders the power to make such decisions on their own.

NATO. We have agreed to defend Greenland, since it it a part of a NATO member.

Likewise, Denmark would rush to our aid if St Thomas was attacked.

Denmark's NATO membership includes the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
