Well I almost bit the bullet and bought an AR yesterday. Wanted something different and thought I should give it a shot since everybody and their mother has one so they can't be THAT bad. Walked into the gun store and picked up an S&W M&P Sport, pretty good quality rifle with a good reputation, looked over and saw a WASR-10, brand new 2019 production.

Put the S&W down, bought the AK and left lol. I was close...almost got one. I will say I really enjoy the iron sights on the M&P over the WASR's, completely different style of iron sight but much easier to use.

Actually it's not about carrying two or three rifles but owning just one rifle where one can quickly reconfigure the rifle from a home defense rifle to a deer hunting rifle or a pig hunting rifle or a varmint hunting rifle or a marksmanship rifle or as a military rifle when called to the defense of America under America's Militia Law or taking up arms when the federal or state government has become a tyrannical government which is the main purpose of the Second Amendment.

Every deer season and pig hunting season you are seeing more and more hunters carrying an AR.

    Yes I understand.

But what is the advantage of having one rifle that can be part swapped into multiple rifles vs just having multiple rifles? I mean its certainly cool and all, but how is it better?

You don't need a really fat wallet full of greenbacks.

You only have two hands and can only use one firearm at a time unless you are the Hollywood left.

    I'm not a big fan of AR's.

I'm old schooled and demand quality, cold hard forged steel that has been milled not stamped aluminum, steel and plastic.

I have specific rifles, shotguns and handguns for specific missions, hunting, long distance marksmanship, plinking for fun, personal security and defense and one has to have a modern military style rifle to be able to have served honorably as a member of the unorganized militia in America.

Then there are collecting of firearms. Gun are history and the gun is the history of America.

Now I would never want to go to war with the AK-47 but there is a lot of history when it comes to the AK-47 and it would be nice addition to anyone's gun collection.

I think it sort of boils down to personal preference sort of like fishing rods. Some folks use one or two rods with a large variety of tackle brought along and others will go out with 5+ rods because they hate changing terminal tackle. I'm in the latter category most of the time if I have room to bring more along. I have about 4 of the same 6'6 rod and reel combos from different brands and the main reason is simply because I get sick of changing lures if I get snagged on something.

When it comes to firearms it's sort of the same deal for me and my laziness is my own justification for buying stuff lol. For example I have a bunch of WASR AK's in various configurations that I actually shoot, 1 completely stock, 1 tacticool, 1 with pretty stock looking furniture, etc. The more expensive ones I don't shoot they just sit there and look pretty. I have no practical purpose for owning more than 1 semi-auto rifle seeing how I don't hunt or anything all I do is go plinking for fun. But some days I feel like using iron sights, or RDS, etc. And the main excuse is that I simply enjoy seeing all of my rifles lined up which is what I keep reminding myself every time I browse the local store and end up walking out with another one lol.

When it comes to guns, everyone has a different opinion. Everyone has had different experiences.

When you go to thees gun forums I always say nobody is wrong, they all have their opinions and experiences, etc.

But occasionally there is always someone who doesn't know what the **** they are talking about like liberal legislatures who legislate on guns when they don't know shack **** about guns.

Remember when liberals added the barrel shroud as one of the cosmetic features making a rifle an assault weapon with the federal assault weapons ban ? The author (liberal Democrat) of the amendment was clueless what the purpose of a barrel shroud was.

In California since 3/4 of the state legislature are as dumb as rocks, having a barrel shroud makes the rifle an assault rifle even though most of the dumb rocks had no idea what a barrel shroud was.

Thats because humans are visual creatures and we fear what looks scary to us. Folks who are clueless about guns are more afraid of that weird looking Kel Tec shotgun that looks like it came from some futuristic video game than they are of my plain ol Mossberg 500. Same shells, same rate of fire, same stopping power. But that Kel Tec thing looks scary with it's short barrel and accessory rails and pistol grip.

Hell somebody a while back was trolling folks on the internet and posted a picture of his expensive camera gear and tripod laid together with a lens on top and had multiple comments from people talking about "Why does any civilian need to own something like that!!!!". Thats the problem with folks, even to this day there are thousands of people who somehow believe that putting lights and stuff on the accessory rail of your AR-15 turns it onto a more powerful firearm. According to the uninformed the cosmetic features of a firearm are directly linked to its lethality. That's why even today we never hear anybody ever talking about regulating the absolute worst thing you ever want to encounter in a mass shooting which is a plain ol mom and pop shotgun. 00 buck shot or slugs and a crowd of people would be a horrifying combination. But they don't look scary so nobody really cares.

Should be moving to PA soon, I will be both. The AR is a great platform and the AK has great reliability. I don't see the need to be mutually exclusive.

When the AR-15 first hit the sporting goods stores in the early 60's before the U.S.Army was forced to adopt the pea shooter, American hunters and shooters rejected the strange looking gun of aluminium and plastic. It wasn't scary looking but looked like a toy, something like Mattel Toys would produce.

Kel Tec guns aren't scary looking, they look like toy water pistols.

Over the years I have noticed that liberals hate toys that children grow up playing with.
They waged a war against toy guns, little plastic army men and playing cowboys and indians, cops and robbers and war. They declared these toys as being racist and politically incorrect.

Instead young little comrades are suppose to play with dolls and play violent video games. And when bullied by the neighborhood bully they are suppose to runaway and hide in a safe space.

That Kel Tec KSG shotgun is scary looking to those who are scared of AR-15s. It "looks like" it can somehow hurt you more. There was a thread about that years ago with people posting pictures of the exact same firearm with one having traditional wood stocks with iron sights and the other having the polymer and accessory rails and sights and flashlights etc. The majority of people said yes civilians should be able to own the first type and no civilians should not be able to own the second type. Then the truth bomb was dropped with that OP saying they are the exact same gun, both were his own guns actually and he simply swapped out the furniture to take the pictures.

These are the folks arguing for banning things which is why I rarely support anything that they say.

I'll admit that I am one who does enjoy the "tacticool" look in some instances. I have a variety of rifles and some are traditional and some are decked out in all sorts of accessories. I have zero reason to actually own an AK-47 with a flashlight and laser and Reflex sight, I don't use it for home defense nor do I ever foresee myself breaching doors in my civilian life. But I like the way it looks so I made it that way.

I was recently looking at reviews for that new DP-12 shotgun. It's a weird looking thing that is technically a bullpup I guess, I have no practical reason to own that but it looks like it would be pretty cool so I'm considering picking one up.
