Should the government be the only ones with guns? Do you trust the police that much?
Do you trust that the police will protect you and yours as well as you can do it yourself?

Falling looks a lot like flying for a while; but historically, disarmed citizenries have not fared well. If anyone has a gun, I will also.

I know of no one who is seriously saying you cannot defend yourself with a gun, but one has to wonder about your intentions if you believe you have the right to defend yourself as a one man army.

Where would you draw the line? Which guns should the police have that you and I shouldn't, and why?

Well, in the US we certainly do have that right. Repeal the second amendment if you wish to change that. Good luck.

The 2nd Amendment is the least fleshed out article in the constitution. It's not written in stone. It's not sacrosanct.

Because they’re also ignorant of constitutional law.

It wasn't fleshed out because it was commonly and well understood by all the founders and framers as close to an obvious right as almost anything. They had no reason to discuss it much. George Washington said the right to bear arms is the 2nd most important right behind voting. I don't know if I would go that far -- religion and peacefully assemble is up there too -- but it is what George said.

Well it certainly isn't stopping them from trying to accomplish their goal, and already they are causing serious damage to women's health in many states where they are actively pursuing that very agenda.

This is a pretty lame argument considering the forefathers could never have imagined today's technological advances.

Should you have freedom of speech on the internet?

Which police? The majority of elected Sheriffs here in WA are refusing to enforce the new red flag and storage laws passed primarily by Seattles dense voting block, claiming unconstitutionality. Its a good bet they'll refuse to enforce a semi-auto ban as well.

But why 'ask the police'? They dont make the laws, We The People do. Do you not know what you want the law to be?

    That's a mouthful.

Define what you mean by that, because it's starting to become pretty obvious to me that this phrase doesn't mean what we use to think it meant.

    You're conflating two separate issues.

There is no threat to the 2nd Amendment yet these stupid conversations seem to need to be discussed while other rights are destroyed. You people make absolutely zero sense..

I believe any person should not have the capability of being better armed than the police. This begins with eliminating large capacity magazines.

Semi-automatic weapons existed prior to the writing of the constitution, ex.- the puckle gun. So we can at least extend 'arms' to include semi-automatic weapons.

Hey! Let's outlaw radio, TV and the internet. Surely they were not meant to be protected by the 1st amendment.

And by the way, what possibly could be lame about a consensus opinion of framers, forefathers and constitutional conventions?????

You really think theres many folks who would consider red flag laws unconstitutional but not semi-auto restrictions? Statistically speaking, opponents of one oppose the other as well the vast majority of the time...

You honestly think that the forefathers would have tolerated the abuse of gun rights today?
