My wife is a retired elementary school teacher. I can say from what I've seen the math these kids are required to learn is far above that which we had to learn at the same grade level when I was a kid.

Obama and Hillary were lying corrupt narcissists. What part of this statement do you not understand and how many examples would you like ?

I have never denied that Trump is dishonest and preposterous liar - nor did I say the level of lying was equivalent - Trump lies mostly every time his mouth opens.

This however does not change the fact that Obama and Hillary were 1) Liars, 2) corrupt scum buckets and 3) narcissists - especially Hillary.

I've learned over time it is pointless to argue with someone who holds irrational beliefs. Have a nice day.

That's true, I did not, nor was I interested in recording those real life experiences, due to my lawful and patriotic beliefs in liberty. Unfortunately, studies can be and are biased due to any number of reasons. You can't prove the veracity of the findings, either.

Would you rather agree to disagree? I have no problem with that. I believe in the intelligence of the citizens of the U.S. who believe in the ideas of the founding fathers and understand them.

Edit1: I don't need to try to persuade them. Give them your evidence or your personal reality, and believe in them. They will figure it out.ee.

Both irrationality and disapproval, could be. I think most Americans want a government that works. Not one where Democrats automatically oppose any Republican idea or Republicans oppose any Democratic proposal based on whom proposed it, not the merits of the idea or proposal. The problem with getting a compromise these days might have to do with all those who left the two major parties, leaving the hard core ideologues in charge. Hence, we get Trump vs. Clinton in a presidential matchup where one is disliked and not wanted by 56% of all Americans, while the other isn’t wanted by 60%. The choice boils down to whom one wanted the least.

I know what you’re talking about. I saw it a Burger King when their cash registers crashed. She couldn’t figure out how much a 4.99 whopper combo plus 7% sales tax was let alone how much change to give me when I handed her a ten. I saw my daughter and granddaughter go to college and come home with homework that were on subjects I was taught in high school. Now they learn them in college. So perhaps one must attend two years of college just to receive what was once a high school education back in the 1950’s?

All I know is most Americans want the two parties to work together, to compromise. Not to be at loggerheads against each other all the time.

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/220265/americans-favor-compromise-things-done-washington.aspx

But voting Republican and or Democrat isn’t going to get you compromise or the two parties to work together for the betterment of the country. Sure, there’s going to be issues where no compromise is possible. But on most issues, there is plenty of room for compromise. Until 20 or so years ago, straight party line votes were rare, not they occur all the time. I think that tells us something about our politics today.

Blind partisan denial on your part does not constitute irrationality on mine. I asked you how many examples you would like - and in response you run to the playground - screaming out names - to stick head deep in the sandbox of denial. Is adult conversation a bit too much for you these days ?

What is irrational Lee - is you engaging in partisan blindness - while calling out other of our friends on the right for doing the same - and thinking that constitutes integrity.

    It does not.

The question is- why do we have so many who are illiterate in english, so inept at math? A while back I gave a cashier a ten dollar bill and 21 cents- for a $9.21 order, so there would be no coin- just a $1 in change.. She was baffled. Had to lay it our for her twice, and I think she still didn't understand; just took my word for it. In a recent test, 62% of Americans misspelled "embarrassed"- which is embarrassing. Not talking about typos, but actually now knowing how words are spelled. Things like "He showed know mercy".... Hardly a complicated issue to understand the difference in context for using "no" and "know". Had to imagine anyone does not know how to spell "no", but that may be from lack of using it properly.

This is basic math that every person would be dealing with everyday. The US now ranks in 31st place in the PISA score worldwide ranking, a test that measures math, science and reading abilities. Surely, we can do better than that.

I fully agree people want a government that works- but most don't understand what that means. In part, it requires telling people what must be done instead of what they want to hear- and failing to do that, a government will not be seen as "working". Difference is in making things work functionally, or being popular. If you insist on balancing budgets and refuse to give in to wasteful demands- you will probably lose the next election, or- you can add debt to appease demands and stay in office. Obviously, the latter has been the path of least resistance and taken by most all politicians for decades. The masses don't want to hear about fiscal reality, and wouldn't believe it anyway.

We educate our kids in math and science later than the rest of the world. Pisa measures 15 year olds, freshman in high school, that is pretty much the first year we teach math, before that it is mainly arithmetic.

Why would you say hillary and obama were narcissistic? Do you Even know what the word means. There is something really comical about you calling them narcissistic when your president is a pathological narcissist. He has called himself the greatest he takes credit for things he doesn’t do and he blames everyone for his shortcomings.
It is amazing that you admit that Trump is dishonest and a preposterous liar but yet you say Hillary and Obama were much bigger liars. Trump has lied or mislead over 10,000 times. His lies are pathological because there is no reason for them , like he is the most stable genius. What kind of fool says that? But the worst insult is that he talks to his base like they are stupid and they eat it up. They believe it’s the best economy ever, that he gave the biggest tax cut ever, . He tells them that and they buy it hook line and sinker....How you can compare Obama to trump is beyond words

There were 3 terms used .. liar, corrupt, narcissist. While everything you say about Trump is true - the idea that Hillary is not does not have an inflated sense of self importance is somewhat laughable. Obama - not so much. He was however both a liar and corrupt.

If the shoe fits - the shoe fits. As stated previously - it is just more obvious with Trump.

I went to fill the lawnmower can and told the girl "a gallon on pump one".

She gets this baffled look and says "three dollars"? I say "No, a gallon on pump one" She ask me the same thing again and I repeat myself. Finally she asks "How much is a gallon"

I said, "you are asking me, you work here, right"?

Same girl a few weeks earlier, I buy something that came to like $4.35...she gives me back like 30 cents from a 5. I tell her you "owe me 65 cents" She says "well, that is what the machine says"...She had given me the subtotal, before taxes...:frustrated:

Correct. Everything boils down to the next election. When one doesn't give the people what they want or wish for. When one actually does something good for the country you get wave elections following that. Like in 1994, 2006, 2010 and now 2018 with the House. Although each election was different and caused by different reasons. 1994 was the raising of taxes to combat the debt. The Democrats made the mistake of raising the amount of social security that was taxed from 50% to 85%, seniors vote. 2006, the beginning recession and I suppose one could say the folks were tired of Republican rule. 2010 has to be the ACA which the majority of people said they didn't want which was thrust on them any way. Now 2018, I'd say that was against Trump and his obnoxious persona.

    That may be so.

However, who don't you get back to the premise of the whole thread, namely that Trump can prevent people's 401ks from going down? How is he going to achieve this? Nobody has yet answered this question.

Arming and supporting Terrorists - including the 911 Terrorist group - Al Qaeda. Some of these arms came from Benghazi - a question about which Hillary Lied during the Benghazi hearings. Then you have the Obama - "Moderate Rebel Lie" with respect to the Islamist Extremists in Syria.

Actually, here is what Trump said he could do to prevent 401ks from falling:

"If I wanted to make a bad deal and settle on China, the market would go up. But it wouldn't be the right thing to do," he explained. "I'm just not ready to make a deal, China would like to make a deal, I'm not ready."

So, here it is from the horses's mouth that the trade war (which supposedly are easy to win) are causing the market to go down. Once again, he throws his supporters under the bus, who claimed that the recent drops in the stock market had nothing to do with the trade war.
