Trump has given more than one explanation for the tariffs. Unless you think the Constitution is "partisan crap" it is illegal for him to use tariffs in such a way.

The good paying jobs were a result of unions. Not unskilled mfg labor.
Without labor wage measures, unions or min wage, there would not be unskilled living wage jobs.

It is me, the truth, and the Constitution vs you. Sorry, but you lose. Hero worship is a poor replacement for reason and the rule of law.

China has trading partners all over the world. We have a global economy now, but Trump is doing his best to isolate American. Jan. 20, 2021 can't come soon enough.

No US company has EVER been forced to do business with and/or in China. They did so of their own accord with the rules China imposed known ahead of time.

Again if it is constitutionally illegal why aren't the Democrats taking him to court. Or anyone else for that matter?

And now China has the pollution issues we have back in the 1950s 60s and 70. Now they are having to enact regulations to combat that.

Trump's trade war with China took a turn for the worst.

On August 1 Trump announced that the U.S. is putting 10% tariffs on another $300 billion worth of Chinese goods, effective Sept. 1. His announcement resulted in stocks worst week of 2019 amid renewed investor fears about his trade dispute with China.

China retaliated. China, which has historically controlled its currency, the yuan, allowed it to fall to its lowest level against the dollar in more than a decade.

"Stocks fell sharply Monday as a trade war between the world’s largest economies intensified with China retaliating against President Donald Trump’s latest move. The move continues a sell-off that began last week when President Trump ordered new tariffs on the rest of Chinese goods."

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/05/us-futures-amid-trade-turmoil-between-beijing-and-washington.html

Millions of Americans permanently lost millions of dollars in their investment accounts.

One week was the worst week of the year. It was followed by the worst day of the year, August 5th.

"Goldman Sachs warned clients on Monday that a trade agreement "now looks far off" because officials in Washington and Beijing are "taking a harder line."

"The Wall Street firm said the most likely outcome is that no deal will be reached before the 2020 election and that President Donald Trump's threatened 10% tariffs on $300 billion of US goods will remain in place on Election Day."

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/06/business/goldman-sachs-trade-war-2020-election/index.html

Now we come August 13.. Trump changed his mind again, no doubt to save his political skin.

The US Trade Representative announced a delay in new tariffs on several categories of Chinese-made consumer goods until December 15. Those goods include cell phones, laptop computers, video game consoles, certain toys, computer monitors, and certain items of footwear and clothing.

The Dow was up more than 400 points, or 1.6%, in late morning trading following Monday's nearly 400-point drop. The S&P 500 gained 1.5% while the Nasdaq rose 2%.

"If anyone had doubts that trade was the thing hanging over the market, today seals it," said Bill Stone, chief investment officer with Avalon Investment & Advisory.

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/13/investing/dow-stock-market-today-cpi-inflation/index.html

It took Trump two weeks to learn what most Americans knew all along. His 10% tariff on Chinese goods promised economic disaster, probably an inflation/recession scenario. He will change his mind again before December 15. It will be just as much a disaster then as it is now.

Caused by recession fears, on August 14 the Dow was down over 800 points, the Nasdaq was down 242 points, and the S&P was down 86 points. The Dow ended up at 25,480 on the 14th. Trump's trade started five months ago. Five months ago the Dow was at 25,710. https://www.zacks.com/stock/news/359798/stock-market-news-for-mar-15-2019

Who, according to the Constitution, has the authority to levy duties and taxes? Hint: not the President.

Actually they are worse and far less justifiable. And they don't seem to be enforcing any regulations.

    I didn't say it did.
I said they did so freely and willingly. Knowing the situation in advance.
And I assume they did so, because they knew it was profitable.

They also have the option of leaving if they don't like the deal.
We don't need tariffs for those reasons.

Yet you complain about our regulations.
At some point, if they are not already and I believe they are already trying to curb pollution, they will have to curb pollution.
    With regulations, taxes, and fines.

Normally I explain what the nuclear option is but, since I have already explained it to you numerous times in sordid detail in previous threads I thought it was not necessary so I guess my bad for assuming that you read what is posted to you - anyway -

Threatening the nuclear option is threatening to block a nations banks out of the system of international payments.

The Constitution determines what is in the Constitution, not who sues. If you are going to say I'm wrong about what's in the Constitution, at least have the intellectual honesty to discuss the actual Constitution. If you can't muster that much, then this was never an honest discussion to begin with.

You don't need a Democrat to tell you what's in the Constitution by suing. You can read it yourself, and you really should. There are tons of free copies out there.

    I'll try again.

Who, according to the Constitution, has the authority to levy duties and taxes? Hint: not the President.

I complain about ours because most of them are useless. Good grief we have gone so far beyond what is necessary that we even have rules for where to put the coat hooks on bathroom doors. WE are so far beyond what is necessary that it appears that we are trying to idiot proof the world. That or make sure every trial lawyer will never need to look for an honest job.

Think about all those people in his own Cabinnt and West Wing and from his own party, including Mitch McConnell, who understand politics and Washington politics, told him NEVER to be seen shutting down the government as a bargaining chip, begged him not to put his own allies in that dreadful position, yet he bragged in front of national cameras, and in the presence of Schumer and Pelosi, that he would accept the blame while he did just that! Does that not prove my point? Its one thing to be stupid, its another to intend to stay that way out of sheer laziness or obstinance.

Yeah right. If Trump called a press conference at the white house and then pulled down his pants and pooped on the floor in front of everyone you would say he was right to do it because he was giving the middle finger in the face to political correctness!

    :roflol::roflol::roflol:

But that aside for a moment, the conversation that you injected yourself into was about how Trump said he was going to impose tariffs on an additional $300 billion in Chinese goods on September 1. Your response was no more than a bunch of BS clouded by your partisan views. To walk you through it, here's what happened. On August 1, Trump announced that he would tariff an additional $300 billion worth of Chinese goods starting September 1. What did he get in response from the Chinese? Concessions, as your partisan BS would have us believe? NO! The Chinese responded by halting their purchase of US agricultural products. BAM! Not only that, but US retailers warned that such a move would cause them to have to raise prices. Trump realizing that he had painted himself into a corner then backtracked and said he would not impose the tariffs on September 1. It was beyond stupid to make such a public announcement without thinking the matter through and understanding the consequences. Because he did not properly do that, he had to backtrack. It was stupid, it was beyond stupid, and you can't put a fig leaf on in with partisan bulls*ht.

Now, back to your partisan behavior, let me ask you this. Was Trump right to lie and say that representatives Omar and Tlaib hate all Jews?
