Wait, from what I saw, your "sensible" plan was to vote democratic in 2020. Do I need to provide you with the definition of sensible?

If Democrats stop to promote pederasty and special rights then whole congress will be theirs.

Silliness from the right above, so if a Christian baker can refuse to deliver a cake so he won't have to participate in weddings celebrating pederasty and lesbianism, then a Christian gun seller who sells a gun to a guy who murders someone can be charged with murder.

The mainstream American voter now realizes that Trump cares about himself and business in that order.

That's another lie, he did not say what my link says.

    Democrats love to lie.

SS is a transfer payment, not an investment.

Trump is 100% of responsibility of Democrat party.
You guys screwed whole country with you pederast and special rights agenda.
    Do not blame American voter.
American voter had no choice but to vote for Trump.
It will probably happen again if you continue to bow to extremists.

Im sure if they thought they COULD eliminate it without repercussions, they would.

That being said, They will CUT Social Security. I would look more for them to try and eliminate welfare programs first.

Trump has already said he wants to take 1.8 billion from Medicare/Medicaid to pay for his tax cuts to the wealthy.

Representative Jolley is a Republican, and the link reported he said that the government does not have to pay SS.

Personally I would have no problem if they bumped up the contribution rate as well as raising the cap. It just makes sense. I wish they had done both the last time they did the tax cuts.

Spim and 61Falcon hit the answers on their collective nose: Raise the cap o earnings as well as up contributions by 1 or 2%.

This is a payout on contributions made. Anyone who says it is "welfare" is a poser.

This, right after you just finished suggested upping the earnings cap without upping the benefit.

How would that help? If someone contributes more, they receive more.

I think they will reduce benefits by about 20%, but do not think they will kill it outright

I'm not on the right. I realize that it makes it easier to avoid critical thinking when you can just label everything, but maybe if you can avoid that you can actually be intellectually honest about what you are calling for.

What you are suggesting is that Social Security no longer be about retirements - workers supporting retirees through a forced contributions program, but about welfare - the rich taking care of the poor. That's fine, but be honest about it.

It would take an act of Congress and that is not going to happen.

I am suggesting before we cut benefits to 99% of Americans elderly by 20%, we consider raising the caps
