Because I am, and I used to get my routine pap smears, health checkups, and birth control...free of charge ... when I was a young woman without health coverage. They provide many valuable services. You clearly are blinded by your bias.
The Hyde Amendment prohibits federal taxes from being used for abortions.....and no one is killing fetuses with functioning brains. The abortion rate will rise as women have less access to affordable birth control....and other health services.
Thanks for the rational response except for the last sentence. I'm a man so there is no need. for me to go to PP. I'm glad they helped you but there are many who are pressured to have an abortion when they go there. They also do abortions so they have no right to force people who are opposed to abortion to subsidize them.
Thats simply not true. They educate about choice, if requested. Only IF requested. I went there with my first pregnancy, for the test, and at no time was an abortion so much as mentioned. The only "pressure" I ever witnessed, came from the nut job protesters trying to block my access, carrying signs, bloods doll heads on a stick, and screaming at me that I was a "Murderer". You sound just like them, in that you have no idea what the majority of women go there for, and really, You don't seem to care a bit about our "Health" To be honest.

Here in Boston, like most other large cities, we have homeless folks, many who struggle with addiction, mental health problems ect... Prostitution, sexual assault, and other assorted horrors of their struggle to stay alive, the only way they know how, is a grim reality. Closing PP will have a disastrous effect on this segment of the population, and on all of us ultimately, as we will see sexualy transmitted diseases, infant mortality, still born babies and neglected/abused infants and children. As well as more crime and violence against homeless pregnant women. Homeless women often live lives most people couldn't even fathom in their worst nightmare. I will never understand the smug, self-righteous @ssholes that feel a little more misery and condemnation is just the ticket!
That's what you read in...errm... "The American Feminist". I was relating what I know for a fact from personal experience. Shady chit goes down everywhere. There is a lot of crazy in every walk of life, PP clinics have their share, I don't doubt it. But I've never seen, or knew anyone that got services there, encounter anything like that. Not even close.

Theyare NOT pressured to have an abortion when they go there. I have been involved with Planned Parenthood for many years. No one forces anyone to have an abortion. Planned Parenthood is there to help with STDs, birth control, prenatal care, and referrals for mammograms etc etc. abortion is a tiny percentage of what they do

They offer services to men too. Such as STD testing. And nobody subsidizes abortion. That is against federal law.
See post 33 for men's services....I looked it up because one of these Anti-Choice posters knew so little about PP, the entity he 's slamming because he KNOWS so much about it , claimed PP didn't have services for men.
