    1. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has denied that a Huawei executive is being detained in Canada as a bargaining chip in the US-China trade war.

Meng Wanzhou, 47, was arrested in Canada in December at the request of the US.

The US wants her extradited to be tried on charges of fraud linked to alleged violation of sanctions on Iran.

Her lawyers have argued the arrest was politically motivated, quoting US President Donald Trump's own remarks.....

    2. Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou's endless detention is reminiscent of the detention of Zhang Qian (張騫; died 113 BCE) by the Xiongnu during the Han Dynasty. Zhang Qian managed to return to China after 13 years of travelling in Central Asia, India, Pakistan and even as far as Mesopotamia.

In a Chinese television drama about Emperor Wu of Han, there was a touching scene showing Zhang Qian trudging into the imperial court with a walking stick. While all the court officials were kneeling down with their faces to the ground, Emperor Wu got up from his throne and walked towards him to hold his hand.

The Huawei CFO, however, may not be so fortunate to have such an honour as she may have to spend the rest of her life in Canada or the US either under house arrest or in a prison, without any hope of ever seeing her motherland again.

I agree, it's outrageous what they did to the Huawei CFO.
However, it's not clear whether the move was at all motivated by politics, or a prosecutor exercising very loose discretion.

Huawei is not the only US target. America aims to destroy China's high-tech industry.

China stole half that technology from US companies (or if not outright stole, underhandedly cheated them out of it).

Instead of parroting Trump and Navarro, please provide proofs of your allegation of China "cheating" or "stealing" from US companies.
