So Trump just launched space command. Maybe I'm incorrect, but doesn't this violate a 1960's 70's treaty about there being no weapons or nukes in space. Also, how much is this going to cost and how does it help the American people's welfare exactly? And wasn't this already taken care of by the air force? My taxes are going toward this? And on and on and on. One more thing down during this crises called a presidency.
Little did you know defense usually entails something with weapons. And if it's just surveillance, the air force already did that.
A "Space Force" or something similar was inevitable considering human mentalities and advancement. This need not be (and probably wont be) a military branch of government but will probably take over much of what the USAF already does.
A spaced based military will eventually be required, if it stirs more government funds to cleaning up the debris in low earth orbit and further space exploration and prioritization I am all for it. It’s a stupid name though.
Trump has PROVEN that he DOESN'T CARE what anything costs. Trump has PROVEN that he HATES America (and could not care less about "American people's welfare"). Trump DOESN'T CARE where the taxes of hard-working Americans go (as long as he and his cronies can get rich from the grift).
Exactly. Sure the Air Force and/or the Navy could do this and probably do some. Yet this is one thing that this administration has done that is proactive and I agree with this move as I said in other posts.
Yeah just a natural change of times. In the end, there is a joint command that ties all the services together.
People become accustomed to names so I can’t really speak to past tense assumptions. Do you think “space force” sounds official or contrived?
No more or less than Air Force I guess. What is it about the "Space" that seems to disagree with you. It was the Space Shuttle you know. It was the Spacelab too. And let's not forget the International Space Station. What else would you call it?
Yes and then into the Army Air Corp.. That "Air" thingy. Like the "Space" thingy. It's where they primarily operate, it is what is their use. Air being in the Atmosphere where there is air and Space being outside out atmosphere where there is space.
There's no water or air in space. The missions and environments in which they operate are different as happened with the Air Force evolving out of the Army.
It's completely redundant at this point. Yes I would be all for a separate branch in space but we are nowhere near that point right now. Calling it something similar to starfleet would be apt. Currently it's just going to become one more drain for the military industrial complex and more bureaucracy.
At least it's not the Donald J Trump Space Force and Casino.... Yet..... We'll see if this is something the next administration rolls back as wasteful....
Doubtful, even the most sane might not be able too because it would be part of the military industrial complex. Once you create one of these programs it's most likely nearly impossible to get out.
Sad but true.... But if it's at all possible, and a reasonable evaluation determines it's a terrible idea, do it ASAP, since it won't be long established in 2021...
No, just a little down, at the battle command level,I.e., Gen Schwarzkopf was commander of all services during Gulf War I. I have been on exercises where Naval, Marine, Army, and Air Force all see the same battle field picture and the supreme commander decides which weapon platform from any service to use on a target, Something that almost explains it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_combatant_command https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Joint_Forces_Command
Who cares if it does, international law is a joke and it should be deliberately broken just to break it, irrespective of any benefit gained out of doing so. Breaking international law is a good in itself, not a good in its outcome.
