NOAA/NHC/NWS had to retract their Big Whopper. Game over. :)

"The statement from NOAA contrasts with comments the agency’s spokesman, Chris Vaccaro, made Sunday. “The current forecast path of Dorian does not include Alabama,” Vaccaro said at the time.

Friday’s NOAA statement, released just before 5 p.m., points to a few graphics issued by the National Hurricane Center to support Trump’s claims. The maps show percentage possibility of tropical storm force winds in the United States. "Parts of Alabama were covered, usually with 5% to 10% chances, between Aug. 27 and Sept. 3. Maps on Aug. 30 grew to cover far more of Alabama, but for only 12 hours, and the highest percentage hit ***20% to 30%*** before quickly shrinking back down."

MSM = Fake News, and much of that Fake News involves lies told about Trump.

"President Trump on Wednesday said he would consider accepting information on his political opponents from a foreign government, despite the concerns raised by the intelligence community and special counsel Robert S. Mueller III over Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election...."

"That writeup is from the Washington Post, and it’s typical. Vox said the same thing. Ditto for the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. But there’s something odd about all this. Nowhere in the interview did Stephanopoulos use the word “government.” Neither did Trump."
MOTHER JONES, Trump Never Said He’d Take Oppo From a “Foreign Government”, By Kevin Drum, 6/13/19.
    https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-d...said-hed-take-oppo-from-a-foreign-government/

Much of the organized political opposition is remarkably dishonest.

I'm really confused by this story. Alabama WAS originally forecast to be hit wasn't it? I saw a clip of a CNN weatherman talking about Alabama being at risk.

One of those actually won the presidency - Carter.

He wasn't running against Nixon, but against Nixon's legacy. Ford, who pardoned Nixon. This administration is more corrupt than Nixon's so it is a not a reach to say that is a fair analogy. And Carter won.

Next year, whoever wins the D primary will be running against Trump. Trump is, by many measures, the least popular president since Gallup started conducting polls.
    - his BEST approval minus disapproval number is +1. Most of the time he has been negative. Next in line during their most popular moment was Clinton, who only managed +45. Every other president did better than that.
    - he ranks fourth in highest disapproval. Only GW Bush, Truman and Nixon have been worse.
    - he is the worst in approval average at only 40%

One thing you can say for him - he has a loyal base. His approval numbers have been amazingly steady. This means that all of his mis-steps don't cost him politically. It really is a cult of personality, where people don't care so much about what he does. They have tied themselves to him deeply and emotionally, and they will stick with him through almost anything.

The odds are that he will win again. Incumbents almost always do. But if we have learned anything from Trump, it is that he can buck the odds.
