Two things about your statement.

1: That's an old socialists statement designed to appeal to emotions. After all, only selfish people don't consider the needs of the many and selfish people aren't worth listening to amiright? Its a mob mentality that is a black and white argument that ignores all shades in between.

2: It's also ironic considering that relatively speaking few people actually are killed with guns. Even if you consider ALL people killed with guns regardless of why they were killed (such as suicide) the amount of people killed is less than 1 percent of the total population of the United States yet the CDC (thanks to Obama btw) showed that around 500k to 3 million people use guns for self defense per year. So if you really do believe in that mantra then you would be on gun advocates side rather than the gun control advocates side. After all, the needs of the many (500k-3million) outweigh the needs of the few (40k killed counting suicides (and that's on the high side)).

 

It has nothing to do with crime, it's about people control by a tyrannical governent.

 

The Courts have negotiated what are considered "rights" many times in the last 200 years. Right to vote has changed. Rights to own property. Rights to marry. While you have a right to defend yourself, nobody promised you would have the right to personally own every weapon known to man to do it.

We've already had a national assault weapons ban (1994) that the Courts upheld until it expired. That ban was pushed by support letters from Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. It was hardly an end of the world for gun owners.

Great, then you agree that the freedoms of millions of people outweigh the few hundred deaths caused by all rifles every year.

The first 157 years of this country's history there were no Federal gun laws infringing on our 2A rights.

It wasn't until the extreme left-winger and control freak FDR that our first Federal infringement of our gun rights was enacted.

 

And the Clinton DOJ said the AWB had no impact on crime.

Of course the CDC used outside studies. Duh. They only spent a few months on that report. But do you really think that the CDC would cite uncredited studies? Like it or not Kleck's study has been reviewed and no one has actually been able to honestly fault its methodology or conclusion. Even one of the top criminologists at the time that Klecks study, Marvin E. Wolfgang, stated:

Kleck's research has been used in our courts and Kleck has testified before Congress. Like it or not, Kleck's research is valid and peer reviewed.
