Let me guess .. you're from Melbourne. Ergo confirming my point about intolerance. Meantime - paradise is anywhere above 500m, not nearer than 2 hrs travel time to Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, and preferably within easy reach of a regional centre. I particularly like university towns - Bendigo/Ballarat, Goulburn, Bathurst, Armidale, etc. I could not possibly care less about the coast. I'm not a beach person, I'm a mountain/forest person.
That is entirely not my experience. And my family (both immediate and extended) has very good reason to know the difference. We have consistently experienced the opposite of what you claim. FAR more genuine tolerance in the country than in 'tolerant cities'.
Let me guess .. you're white? Meantime, there is no 'community' within a mile of Central. There are transients, renters, students, and tourists. How can you possibly determine something like community tolerance in such a vast seething mess of humanity?
I must ask .. why on earth do you need people to embrace your ideas? What does that matter, when neighbour helps neighbour? That friendliness and ready hospitality of country people is what matters, and that's where real tolerance lies. They don't care what your politics are, or your skin colour. It's about the basic civilities and kindnesses.
Mixed. City, burbs, and country. But I was a 'white' child, so my experience was informed by apparent cohesiveness. It wasn't til I reached adulthood and took my big city sophistry and fancy ideas back to the country, that I realised I was far more intolerant than anyone momentarily speechless on account of not being accustomed to black people. I demanded alignment of thought and politics, having that big city dearth of appreciation (and even mistrust) for ready hospitality.
Shows how little you know, I have lived here for 10 years I do feel I know, there are the dozen or so school friends my grandson has and their families. All live within walking distance. My partner, who is black, is a member of different community groups. I can tell you this as a fact, if I was a stranger, I would rather fall over in the streets around here than I would in the country town I grew up in
You REALLY won't like it here. We have two major parties to the left of your Democrats and we are deeply concerned about Chinese interference in our politics and moderately concerned about Russian interference. By your standards we are a 'socialist' country. You would be very unhappy here.
Wrong guess. And you seem to be the one dishing out the intolerance/judgmental vibe here, not me. I don't feel any particular need to rubbish other people places of residence or reasons for moving there in public - if I don't know them.
Yerp! Mate our nation was founded on socialist principles We are left of you lot any time day or night
The Catholic Church and churches like Hillsong are proof in my opinion that God doesn't exist or else they would have been zapped by lightning long ago
I think the overall consensus is that you would not be happy in Australia. First we are a democracy, one person one vote and yes, if you want to be a part of this great democracy, if you want to enjoy the freedoms we expect you to participate even if it is just keeping up with things and spending an hour once every 3-4 years to vote. Here if you need to get medical attention you are treated according to your illness or injury not your bank balance. You may not like your children going to university with common folk, in Australia, anyone who has good enough marks or can demonstrate the ability and show the desire to achieve can obtain a bachelor degree, masters or doctorate and pay nothing until your income is high enough. We value an educated population which is a benefit not just to the individual, but to the greater society as demonstrated by the myriad of discoveries especially in medicine that we have shared with the world. You would hate it here as we are concerned with all people in our society, although not as adequate as it could be, we provide a safety net for those who's fortunes may not be as good as ours. Fiscal policy, current trends etc can cause dramatic changes in employment so we have a fairly easily accessed, fair although a little low helping hand. Part of an Australian philosophy of "a fair go". You wouldn't like it here as you can't pack a glock in your pocket, not that most people feel the need to, actually most feel pleased we don't. No I don't think you will like it here.

Oh and this fella... https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/topics/wildlife/2016/03/welcome-to-croc-country/ 6 meters that's nearly 20 feet.
This is the cultist scum bag our Prime Minister uses for spiritual guidance and the one he wanted us tax payers to send with the Prime Minister to the US. Brian Houston, one of Australia's most disgusting church men
On the up side, at least he isn't fawning over an actual paedophile, like Abbott & Howard have done with convicted child rapist George Pell. Morrison just goes to a church founded by a child rapist. In conservative ranks that is actually progress.
So those rubbishing pretty much everywhere but Melbourne (suggesting everything from bigotry to poor responses to falling down in the street) are much nicer, I guess. I pick a single city to dislike and I'm the bad guy.
