Good news, the abortion rate is the lowest since legalization in '73. Why?
The growing use of long-term contraceptive methods, like intrauterine devices and implants, which are now covered by insurance under the Affordable Care Act.
It is not because of the right-winger's restrictions because if that were true birth rates should go up, but instead they have gone down.

No, the real reason more probably has to do with people having less sex.
It's a sociological phenomena that can be seen in Japan too. We all know the Recession has not been good for the formation of families, but what else people don't realize is it has not been good for the formation of younger people forming romantic relationships. Many teens now who don't have cars, when their counterparts in the 90s would have.

Maybe we can say this has been at least one silver lining to the Recession? A little bit lower abortion rate.

Your graph does show that abortion rates were already on the decline decades before then, but if you'll notice, there is a fairly steep drop off that begins some time between 2008 and 2009, about the time the Recession started.

So I think we are both half right.

That's not a fair comparison. There are a lot of Hispanics in Texas.
The abortion rate in California is higher than Texas, and they're pretty much the most progressive state in the country. There'd be no shortage of sex education classes and free condoms there.

Thanks to the affordable care act, pharm companies are enjoying record profits while Americans are sicker than ever.

Well, forcing tax payers to buy medication to mask symptoms so that the illness can worsen, requiring more medications, does add to the bottom line. Do you have any idea why Americans are sicker than ever?

Sure, diet and lack of exercise.
Are meds for high bp, diabetes and high cholesterol ''masking symptoms'' or treating a disease process? Would medical costs be higher if they were not treated?

More women were getting IUDs after ACA because they were practically free and there was another run on them when Trump got elected and threatened to end the ACA.

The problem is the food items that are creating sickness are subsidized by tax payers.

If I don't pay my taxes, they take my home, business, retirement, and throw me in prison. My tax dollar is then used to subsidize food items that make people sick, and then the prescription drugs to mask symptoms and keep them sick.

I get it! The government is forcing the public to overeat and eat a poor diet and then big pharma cleans up by masking the symptoms to keep them sick and continue the process while the government forces the public to keep this vast conspiracy running through tax dollars. Is that it? My god, we are just pawns!......and off topic

Someone was crediting Obamacare for the reduction of abortions. People are fatter and sicker than ever. Where did the concern for human life go?

That ''someone'' was me, but let's continue with your conspiracies and theories. Your opinion seems to be the abortion rate is down because there are more sick fat women not having sex? That is because the government and big pharma are colluding to weaken the race?

No reasonable person would extract that from my post. The post I replied to claimed that Obamacare is why abortion rates are down. What you call a conspiracy theory is a fact. Look it up. Americans are fatter and sicker than ever.

That is certainly a factor, but diet is the main factor.

What? I just took your ''theories'' to their logical conclusions which were dubious.
So I think I could say the drop in women smoking accounts for the drop in abortions is as credible as your rise of ''sickly fat women''.

I have already corrected you on that. I don't believe that Obamacare is a significant factor in the reduction of abortions. Based on the current level of illness, It does more harm than good. If that is too complicated, heres one for you:

Teenage pregnancy rates drop significantly at age 20!

While the rate of teenage pregnancy does drop to zero at age 20 the rest of your logic is on shakier ground. Having available healthcare does more harm than good. Seeing a doctor would negatively impact your health? Increased availability and use of contraceptives would have no effect on the abortion rate?
You have a lot to prove.
