You're thinking of Obama and the one world order freaks. Trump never promised the American people perpetual wars and regime changes.

War is busting out all over,
from China to the Middle Sea.
It's here and there, and everywhere
    as we shall shortly see.

Now chaos is my middle name,
which I am proud to say,
and for the ones not in the know

it's called the American way.. Jeannette

The Syrian army has freed all of Syria except for the area east of the Euphrates that contain the American bases. The Kurds know that the Syrian army is obligated to protect them as long as they remain part of Syria.

The following is from the Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov:

“In this case, it is important (for Turkey) to refrain from any actions that may create obstacles on the path of the Syrian settlement,” he noted, according to TASS.

“We know that certain perspectives are opening up and we understand that it will be a long and thorny path. And now that the Syrian Constitutional Committee has been formed and the date for its meetings has been appointed, it is vital (for Turkey) to refrain from any steps that may harm Syrian settlement,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin expects that in its preparations for an operation in northeastern Syria Turkey will proceed from the postulate that the territorial and political integrity of the country must be preserved.

The Iranians have an agenda in Syria because of its proximity to Israel, and Russia is hindering them since 2 million Israelis are Russian citizens. Moscow has gone to extremes to keep the Israelis and the Iranians away from one another.

The Chechnyans being Sunnis, are trusted by both the Israeli's and the Sunni majority in Syria, so they volunteered to serve as Russian guards at the deconfliction zones, as well as at the guard posts along the border between Israel and Syria.

Russia is not only frustrating many Iranians as well as Israelis because they prefer to keep the peace rather than take sides, but the Turks as well. Frankly this is what we should be doing as a world power, instead we just pit one group against the other.

We'll go now and free them all
to show them that we're standing tall
besides them, as they fight and kill
    each other.

But never think that the melee
    will make us go away.
When what it does is stir us on
    for more each passing day.-

Our allies are the Turks. We share a military alliance with them.

As an Aussie, you may not be aware, but the Turks are our NATO ally, not the Kurds.

Protect the Kurds against our NATO ally Turkey?

What are you suggesting, war against NATO on behalf of the Kurds?

I'm suggesting that if we let the Turks kill off the Kurds. Then we are not the leader of the free world. And if NATO allows it. Then NATO IS UTTERLY WORTHLESS.

Trump has told Turkey that if it does anything outside of what 'we' would consider to be humane it would suffer "the wrath of an extremely decimated economy."

The Kurds and Turks were fighting before we got there and they will still be fighting long after we leave. The Turks will still be the stronger of the two as well.

Exactly, why? They aren't in the North Atlantic, they are in the Mediterranean
They have no business being in NATO.

I'm wondering if you understand the difference between fighting a hot war between a NATO ally or taking economic actions? Or is that all the same to you?

That's not the subject of this thread. The fact is, they are in NATO.

The refugees are in Greece, together with all the Afghans, Pakis, Somalians, Bangladeshis, and all the rest that can't be sent back to Turkey or they'll be found floating on the water.

But that's beyond the point. The pre war population in Syria was around 22 million. Half a million were killed by jihadis, the Christians and Alawites left for areas protected by Assad, and some migrated to Europe - yet the population is around 17 million today.

You figure, unless they've been returning to the deconfliction zones - which seems likely. After all that's what they're for.

These are Syrian Kurds, and it's Syria's job to help them. There are not only Kurds in the area, there are also Armenian and Assyrian Christians and Russia gave Turkey a warning not to do anything that will disturb the peace process.

The US being there only creates more problems.

This wasn't anyone's plan, this was Trump letting Erdogan talk him into doing Erdogan's dirty work.

We are deserting the Kurds, leaving them for Turkey to slaughter, after they fought and died with us to end the caliphate. Erdogan is happy, ISIS is happy, and no one on this planet will ever trust the U.S. again.

Once, not long ago, a handshake from an American diplomat, ambassador, military leader, or president meant something solid and dependable, reputable and trustworthy. Trump has killed that.
