PG&E power shutdown begins in California amid threat of 'explosive' wildfires, affecting millions

CA has a tax credit for home solar and is sunny most of the year. Maybe some of these people, and also businesses should have helped fight climate change by installing solar system.

 

I just spent six years on the mountain freezing my ass off for 6 months out of the years.

But during those six years I wasn't paying close attention what was going on down below on the flat lands of Southern California and it was cultural shock when I came down that mountain a year ago and how the **** was this allowed to happen just not in California but in America ?

What California has become (America's first third world state) is 100% owned by the progressives in Sacramento.

 

I've got solar on my 6 acres, its still wired into the grid-almost all of California is that way.

And this isn't "climate change".

It is a good lesson on what happens when the power goes down-Im hearing restaurants are folding after just a few days.

 

Most of California is a mess, but not all. I live way up north in the eastern foot hills of the sierra Mt just south of the cascades. Very small town of 12,000. We don't need PG&E we have our own utilities and unlike the flat landers down below we never have a water shortage. Plus I own 16 acers 13 miles out of town with a solar well, a creek, and a couple of generators with a cabin. Still stuck paying California taxes and gas prices tho. Power outages don't scare us here. Most have wood stoves and generators. Power outages and snow storms are an excuse not to go into work and stay home playing board games with family and friends. In fact my wife looks forward to them. In the winter time we don't even need the frig.

 

Me too , but not in California, in Michigan

 

Why would anyone want to fight mother nature ?

It's not nice to fool mother nature.

I have been up on a hill 3800 feet above sea level for 7 years now but it’s only really cold here in December, January and February. However I have been going into the city and to the beaches several times a month and it looks ok to me. Yes, the homeless problem is growing, and that’s sad, but otherwise LA, Orange County and San Berdoo are just fine. I also go to the East Coast, Chicago and Seattle several times a year. America is still great and as soon as we get rid of the horse’s ass in the White House, maybe we can get our representatives on the same page to get some much needed infrastructure upgrades and repairs, a cogent health care plan and a sane foreign policy.

I went to an old hangout in Glendale/Echo Park yesterday (Red Lion Tavern) and it’s still doing great and the neighborhood is 10 times better than it was during the Reagan Nixon days. Venice was a dump during those GOP years too and is now nice, clean and upscale. These liberals, hippies and progressives have done a hell of a job transforming rundown neighborhoods into great communities.

 

Mines connected to my natural gas line and comes on automatically if there's and interruption. No flipping the switch and no tank to get filled up, runs my house, theatre, golf simulator and my separate office. Thank god us southerners like natural gas...

 

Gone for six years and had business to take care of in Pasadena and all of the great places I use to like to eat at have been bulldozed and replaced with high rise luxury apartments.

Now they are talking about building a homeless shelter in Newport Beach !!!

I knew California as we knew it was to become history when it was announced back in 2014 that the last dive bar along the Southern California beach cities was being forced out of business and replaced with a bar for PC liberals to drink wine.

And none of them surf, all are liberal hodads.

Where I live, no gas service so I use propane.

 

Times change brother. Sorry about the Poop Deck. I had a few good days and nights there. A lot of the great places I grew up loving in the SF Valley are gone too but a bunch are still there. I’m sorry you are so bummed out about how Southern California has evolved but I still love it here. I remember going to the Palimino Club back in the 70s and seeing Waylon, Merle, Dr John, Linda Ronstadt and other greats. Also the Golden Bear in Huntington to see some great shows too. I don’t know if the Bear is still there but it sure was jumping back in the day.

 

Wish I could have seen Roy when he was playing LA.

 

The Palomino Club was the only place I remember in the S.F. Valley.

I also remember the GM assembly plant in Van Nuys and the Lockheed Skunk Words in Burbank.

I also remember all of the Nike anti aircraft missile battery sites that surrounded the Los Angeles metro area.

It's what made the Cuban Missile crisis so special seeing those Nike missiles come popping out of their underground missile silos pointing towards the sky waiting for those Soviet bombers to nuke L.A. into a third world city.

Funny what the Soviets couldn't do the Democrats did it for them.

I'm pretty certain our power lines in Florida can withstand that and more. What usually knocks out our power during hurricanes is trees falling on the lines, not an actual power line failure.

 

Fires in Calimesa, Reche Canyon, and Rancho Cucamonga with homes lost.

Maybe you could take a picture of the local meth heads with their red MAGA hats and post it here. We have our share of white trash here in WV and guess what. They don't wear MAGA hats. So your claim that the same sort are wearing MAGA hats in CA seems like total BS. Just sayin.

 

Most Meth Heads support Trump as they are usually White Supremicists.

 

Maybe the do, maybe they don't, but can you provide a picture of some of these people wearing MAGA hats as you claim.
