No, the other state will recognise it. Why do you ask?

I misunderstood before. No, it wouldn't be recognised by a state where common law marriage is not consummated, so I suppose the state would annul the marriage. Why do you ask?

On what legal basis? Are you under the impression Ohio can cancel a driver's license issued by Texas?

I would assume that would eventually be the case, although not immediately. In Australia, if someone moves to a different state, they eventually have to get a new license.

And given that getting the government involved is all that marriage is, then getting the government involved is the sole motivation for two people to get married. Your position is EXTRAORDINARILY conflicting!

No your strawman is extraordinary conflicted. Again if you just quit making up nonsense and instead of trying to insert your words into my mouth you would probably have a lot less confusion.

Where you misrepresented my position if can't figure that out I'm not interested in this conversation or any further conversations with you until you get that behavior under control.

Is it NOT your position that government should not be involved in marriage?

It's my position that we shouldn't have to ask for government approval. If we want to get married, it's just like entering any other contact. I don't have to get a boat financing license to enter a financial agreement with a bank. In fact I'm unsure you need it for just about any contact you enter.

No. Ohio can't revoke a Texas DL any more than it can amend the Texas Constitution. It can revoke a Texan's driving privilege in Ohio for good cause, but it's up to Texas to revoke a Texas DL.

Likewise, a common law marriage consummated in Texas may not be recognized by other states; but failure to recognize, whatever other consequences that may have for the couple, hardly equates to annulment.

Yeah, they can't revoke it. What I should've said was that they would eventually stop recognising it and stop allowing the driver to drive within the state unless they get an Ohio license. Is there a driving privilege equivalent with regards to marriage? I wonder if a state can revoke a certain privilege from a married couple because they married in another state.

What other legal marriage is there in the US other than common law marriage?

Well a bank isn't the government, so I don't think your bank comparison works. Anyway, what is this "approval process" for marriage? ANYONE can get married to anyone can't they?

The Comparison works you just don't understand.

So I will repeat it again.

I don't have to get the government's permission to enter into a contract with a bank.

Think about it this time before you respond with that nonsense you posted again.

If that was the case why should we have to ask the government for permission?

I don't have to ask the government for permission to enter into any other kind of contact. Why just marriage explain?

I don't understand how people have to ask the government for permission. Are you saying they have to apply for marriage status or something and the government can reject it?

Point of order. Polygyny is one man many women, and is a subset of polygamy. Likewise, polyandry, which is one women many men, is also a subset of polygamy. Polygamy merely mean multiple spouses. My polygamist marriage, for example, consists of two husbands, and two wives.
