A door or window could be open because she wanted fresh air, especially on a nice night. Also, if a neighbor is so concerned, but too afraid to go next door, call the house. If you're trying to be a good neighbor, try to talk to your neighbor. Sheesh.

what? do you want your neighbor to call the police to your house every time they see the door left open? really?

it's one thing if they know your on vacation, or see people coming in out and that are suspicious, another just to call them cause the front door is open

The police captain as well as the union are condemning his actions and he has been charged with murder.
If she was pointing a weapon at the officer that definitely changes things — although he still did not identify himself as a police officer or allow her time to comply — he may still be found guilty.

 

We all know why. Real question is who trained the shitty cop, and why did the loving neighbor not have the common sense to assume competency in his neighbor's judgment. No loud noises, fighting , gunshots or cause for alarm... just an open door?

The woman was shot and killed because a meddling neighbor, (who didn't know her well enough to care to check, obviously!) was indoctrinated in the 'see something, say something' cult, and called a puzzy trigger happy cop. No racism needed for this stupid senseless death to have occured. Stupidity infects all races. Even here apparently.

 

For this exact reason people don't want anything to do with their neighbors.

She was on private property and the officer did not identify himself.
I am going to guess second degree murder conviction

 

So if your front door was open from 1030 pm to 230 am(as it was in this case) and no one was seen entering the home of the elderly person that lives there(in this case you) you wouldn’t want anyone worrying about you, especially your neighbors who know you, or possibly calling for a welfare check? I’d say you’re a loner that hates people and doesn’t care if you live or die.

 

The poor kid who had to witness this tragedy is going to need serious help.

 

Say whatever makes you feel better about calling the cops on your neighbors at 2am, because they have committed the crime of suspicious use of electricity and having a open door at an hour that YOU feel threatened by.
