Schiff says committees will eventually make impeachment inquiry transcripts public
    https://thehill.com/homenews/house/...e-impeachment-inquiry-transcripts-public-when

"Schiff wrote that in each deposition, he has made an opening statement and allowed a Republican lawmaker to do the same. Counsels for and members of both parties have questioned witnesses and both parties were given equal representation and time, he wrote.

"It is necessary to point this out, because the President and his allies have made the false claim that GOP members and staff have been precluded from attending or asking questions — nothing could be further from the truth," the letter said."
    .........................................................................................................
He goes on to say witness depositions are taking place behind closed doors due to concerns over the coordination of witness testimony. Also, he will release the transcripts to the public at a time that it will not jeopardize investigative equities, subject to any necessary redactions for classified or sensitive information.

Does it really surprise anyone that the Repubs complaining about the process of gathering depositions are lying about how it is being done? That they are wasting time with an effort to censure Schiff as part of their Kabuki theater routine. That they are Trump toadies towing the line for the Liar-in-Chief. That they very much want to change the conversation from the illegal/unethical behavior of the admin. to...............anything.

Why should what Shiff says about anything surprise anyone? Schiff lied about the whistleblowers.

Anyone putting Schiff up as a source has not been paying attention. He's a straight up liar and fraud.

Do you have a shred of evidence that the following is not true, "he has made an opening statement and allowed a Republican lawmaker to do the same. Counsels for and members of both parties have questioned witnesses and both parties were given equal representation and time, he wrote."

If he hasn't, why haven't Repubs said so? All we hear are whiny complaints about process because Repubs do not want to discuss the substance of what these witnesses are testifying to. I grow tired of unsubstantiated smears as a substitute for actual facts.

You see now? Do you see how having these hidden, behind closed doors, with no Due Process events is not a good thing? NO ONE knows for sure. That's not how our system is supposed to work. This is a sham and you just helped prove the point.

    Thanks! :D

Repeating all the deceitful GOP talking points does nada to make your case. The depositions are open to any Repub on the appropriate 3 committees conducting the questioning.....just as they are for Dems. Repubs can make opening statements, question witnesses, have their staff questions witnesses, and are being given equal time to the Dems. Schiff has stated a transcript will be available at the appropriate time. If he doesn't follow through on that pledge you will have a legit complaint.
I'm sorry to see you fall for ineffectual efforts to discredit the process because what the witnesses are saying is so damning for the prez. Perhaps some day you'll realize it's just another smokescreen to obfuscate the truth.

Where does due process come into play when discussing an investigation. I know legal counsel is required, but what protections are not being afforded Trump at this time?

Exactly. It's incredible how quickly these misleading talking points circulate inside right wing circles. "Due process," to the extent there is any during an impeachment proceeding, does not come in to play until the trial phase begins in the Senate.

Anyone with credible knowledge of the events in question should of course be brought in to speak, but I don’t know what more than that would be expected at this time. Has anyone, who is not a subject of the investigation, stepped up to present information that would exonerate Trump?

Due process must come if there are any charges or indictments filed. Due process in not a part of the investigative process. If I am being investigated for a crime do I have the right to have my lawyer present and ask questions of those the police are interviewing? Do the police have an obligation to open their investigation to the public? Aren't there Republicans in the room who can ask questions? This is a red herring.

These are just interviews and the interviewees are allowed to have counsel present. What due process are you even talking about? Trump as the president is not even entitled to due process in the first place. Donald Trump the person would be if this was a criminal trial, but Donald Trump the president is beholden to the Congress as part of their oversight powers and due process is not on the list of rights he has in that process.

Then you should be growing very tired of your own posts, and the kangaroo court you rely upon for your "facts."

Right to face accusers. Right to call his own witnesses. He has less rights than a Death Row Inmate thanks to the Democrats bastardizing the process looking for political gain.

The president of the United States does not have these rights. If you have a problem with that, find the TARDIS and talk to the Founders.

At this point he is not being charged with a crime. This is all still investigation. When/if he goes to trial he can call all the witnesses he wants, and claiming he has the right to remove the protections afforded a whistle blower is plainly false.
Stop the dramatics with the inmate crap. He is Just as free as he would be sans investigation. When he’s imprisoned without trial I will gladly stand beside you crying injustice.

Do you make it a habit to demand your local police department hold open interviews with witnesses when investigating a crime?

    Not according to Jerry Nadler:

Chairman Nadler of the House Judiciary Committee has expressly acknowledged, at least when the President was a member of his own party, that "[t]he power of impeachment ... demands a rigorous level of due process," and that in this context "due process means
... the right to be informed of the law, of the charges against you, the right to confront the witnesses against you, to call your own witnesses, and to have the assistance of counsel."

That may be true in the Senate trial, but not in the House. And even then, it's just opinion. The Constitution does not grant the president these rights.

Democrats would be well advised to remove Schiff from any public engagement whatsoever. He has been totally compromised and there is no way any honest American will take that man seriously. A provern liar, a proven political hack etc...Whoever supports Schiff demeans himself or herself.

How does an open and bipartisan investigation, where north parties are participating and questioning witnesses, equal secret impeachment in the fevered brains of trumpets?

Due process is a constitutional right, more-so-than-ever in an impeachment inquiry. We don't go from allegation to impeachment, anymore than we go from allegation to conviction.

Impeachment by the House requires High Crimes and misdemeanors, not the "opinion" of a kangaroo court. Even then, the Senate judges the merits of the House vote on impeachment, at which time they acquit, or they convict.

God forbid we should ever have a judicial system based on your flawed reasoning.
