We have free community college in my bright red state and costs are slowly going down while education attainment is increasing.

I am beginning to think ya’ll just run off of talking points without looking at the metrics for yourself.

Obfuscation is the only way they can debate because they don't actually have any other ideas besides “do nothing”.

The college professors that I have known personally the past thirty years are barely making enough to live decently so again I ask how have college professors received millions from Warren.

Why do you ask how they received millions from Warren?

Plus college attendance has been decreasing and the head hunters are in high schools offering precollege programs to potential candidates. My youngest son is in the gifted and talented program for two years now and in Nov they will be taking an all expense paid trip to St. Louis to see a play and stay at a motel same as last year. They also have ACT practice days. In my day we walked in an took the test no prep and I passed it with no problemo. The military was at the high school last week doing ASFAB tests
They do start them young but I will not allow my youngest to join the military to conduct wars for corporate profit.

Community colleges do not hire professors on tenure

It's not free. It cost money. Why shouldn't the person receiving the benefit of the education, higher earning potential ie more money, pay for it?

If someone walks into a bank and asks for a loan, the bank uses metrics like their credit score to evaluate the borrower's ability to pay back the loan. In other words, they evaluate risk and grant loans based on it.

The US government when granting student loans does not consider the borrower's ability to pay back the loan. They grant loans based on the needs of the borrower. This is why we have a student debt crisis, because loans are being doled out to people who will not be able to pay it back in a reasonable amount of time. It's no different than the subprime mortgage scam of yesteryear except that the government can't very well repossess someone's college degree like they can a house.

How might the US government determine the risk level of a college student? For starters, students with good grades in high school are more likely to have good grades in college and graduate. Salary after graduating depends largely on the student's degree and the institution they attended. I'm sure there are many more factors than I'm mentioning here, but the point is, this data exists and can be used to make smarter decisions when granting federal student loans. The current system is essentially gambling with taxpayers' money, and it's simply irresponsible in my opinion.

They didn't mean free of any cost to anyone. They mean free of tuition payment by those seeking community college.

Tennessee sticks it to out of state students and a listing of your public colleges shows tuition's from $4000 - $8000. It ain't "free" someone is paying for it, mainly people buying lottery tickets. We also have community colleges. We have several where "free" training in automation and robotics are available. These are partnerships between the state and private business, automotive and manufacturing. A maritime welding school also along the same lines.

Hey if a state wants to have such a program go for it especially in trades and technical training. The Democrats are proposing ALL college be "free" and ALL college debt be wiped out. The federal government needs to stay out of it besides I thought their wealth tax was going to pay for healthcare, how can it pay for everyone to go to college?

So not free to the taxpayers, or in the case of TN the lottery payers.

What they meant was free tuition but obviously not free to taxpayers. I'm surprised you are having trouble understanding this distinction.

But that's NOT the way they put it. In fact they use the "tax the rich" canard. I DO understand that should have been apparent in my post. It's the voters, Democrats, that don't that is the issue.

Good point! However a system which did a proper risk assessment on potential college students would tend to lean rather heavily on standardized exams like the SAT and ACT, which seems to be what everyone wants to avoid.

Very few people believe free means zero costs, it means no cost for that immediate service. You are intelligent enough to know this so it simply means you are trying to conflate the subject.

They expect the free education to pay back ten fold in an increase in wages and attracting jobs to the states.

    It’s working

Almost like we live in a society and realize if we make investments in our people it will be repaid back in full.

Such cannot occur when the people are seeking out worthless degrees that provide no real-world benefit.

Hey Biden, my hand is out, skin me with some cash. I stupidly paid for my own community college, and my university degree, working my ass off never less than two jobs at a time sometimes 3. Do I get reimbursed? It is not fair and racist if I don't. (not sure yet how it is racist but that never matters to the left) Dang with interest I hope, I could retire on that money. Someone float that idea to the progressives, they will immediately promise (then never deliver) on that to buy votes.

Biden isn't going to be the nominee. The Ukraine scandal, which his own party brought into prominence, is a problem. Also, there seems to be a touch of Alzheimer's there. My parents both had it, and I take no pleasure from saying this, but seems someone is going to have to. I don't see why his family and friends don't convince him to pull out sooner rather than later. Perhaps President Obama was the only one with Joe's interests in mind?

If Joe Biden is not going to win the nomination of the democrat party for their candidate for president of the united states, then he cannot be regarded as a political opponent of Donald Trump.

    Really? Who will be?

I think he will be the nominee and would be $5.00, but no more than that, that he will beat Trump in the general. Many people are longing for a sleepy Joe.
