It seems to me that President Trump and his team might want to use that image in their debate with Miss Greta Thunberg.

Greta Thunberg turns Trump's attack back on him

In my opinion Miss Thunberg is somewhat naive when it comes to some aspects of all this. Obviously...... since Canada produces less than two percent of global atmospheric CO2 emissions..... our burdening our taxpayers and companies with billions and billions of dollars worth in Carbon Taxes...... would not prevent ocean levels from rising.

Large scale desalination of ocean water on the other hand..... just might!

Canada produces less than two percent of global atmospheric CO2 so..... a Carbon Tax implemented in all the provinces of Canada will do essentially NOTHING to protect the real estate along the Bay of Fundy from the possible threat of rising ocean levels. I consider that a Carbon Tax is much like a joke that is being played on thirty seven point six million relatively under-informed Canadians..... (Ok.... especially younger ones who do not yet know how to study complex questions like this)......

...... "We Canadians attempt to be reasonably good neighbours so after visiting Truro, N. S., and
Moncton, N. B., so many times in my sixty years I find myself asking questions that people in
Ottawa don't seem to be looking at in a very objective manner.

If average ocean levels rose by eight to ten cms (3 or 4 inches) could high tide...
... rise by one meter in the Isthmus of Chignecto in Nova Scotia, Canada?
This question is logical because the geography of Canada's Bay of Fundy produces the world's highest tides. In my part of Nova Scotia in Guysborough County there is very little funnelling of tidal waters......... so high tide is only about one to one point five meters above low tide.
In the eastern area of the Bay of Fundy high tide levels are up by ten to fifteen meters."

Mr. Barry Randall Green Party candidate for Central - Nova:
Emily McMillan at the Green Party of Canada:

    Dear Mr. Randall:
    Dear Emily:

I recently began a discussion on a public forum dedicated to attempting to get
Canadian more concerned about the threat of rising ocean levels but....... there is a catch......
I cannot personally understand how a Carbon Tax or Cap and Trade System could possibly
    prevent rising ocean levels?????????

Since Canada produces less than two percent of global atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions
how does burdening Canadian taxpayers and business owners with billions of dollars in a new
tax prevent ocean levels from rising???????

I have been advocating an alternative method of stabilization of the climate since 2007 and
I would like to see a little bit of intellectual honestly displayed by more Canadian political leaders but
I am truly impressed with PPC candidate for Cape Breton Highlands Canson because he has coopted my
suggestions and promoted them in his first speech.

It would be wonderful if you could begin plans to discuss all of this with Mr. Billy Joyce
as soon as possible because the real estate on the eastern Bay of Fundy seems to be in the
position of the proverbial canary in the coal mine when it comes to the threat of rising ocean levels.
    Thank you for considering this.

    Dennis Tate

p.s. Here is a discussion that clarifies some of the relevant questions about all this.

My very first speech as a Political Candidate!! I need some polishing! LOL

Greenland had a spike in melt in July due to the warm air mass over Europe. That's called weather.

There is no food shortage in the globe. And global warming and increased CO2 levels result in more arable land, longer growing seasons, and increased yields. Additionally GMO plants need less fertilizer, less insecticide, and less water. If moronic elites would pay attention to the actual data and allow the importation of GMO foods from third world countries that would do more to saving lives and improving living standards than the OP or desalination.

Tell that to the people who do not earn enough money to buy food at the present level of prices that is kept artificially high due to farmers being paid to burn or bury their crops or their milk.

It's not multiplicative, the tides. If sea levels rise by a meter, the Bay of Fundy high tide levels will rise by about a meter. Not twenty meters. The exact number will depend on geography, but it will be about the same as the general sea level rise.

For developed coastal cities at least the "water crisis" is a complete nothing. Even for large coastal developing nations.

The cost of desalinated water is 2-4x higher than freshwater.

As far as I'm concerned we are absolutely mad not to have LFTR nuclear and desalination all in one plants all over our coast.

We do have the latter here in Australia.

I hope that you are correct but there are two powerful factors at play along the Fundy. There is a funnelling effect that takes water from a wide area into a more and more narrow area but the fact that the Bay of Fundy is about 174 miles long the previous high tide waters cannot drain before the next high tide waters pile in on top of them.

Essentially the same thing happens in Anchorage Alaska so if ocean levels rise by a small amount it could be surprising what could happen in several places on the planet.

I do hope that you are correct and that the same kind of
heat wave doesn't hit Greenland in the summer of 2020.

I do have to admit that there are problems with desalination:

Everybody gets their panties in a bunch about a one month spike in Greenland ice melt but Greenland has gained ice mass the last couple of years. The actual melt doesn't even put a noticeable dent in the total ice mass if you graphed it.

    That is very interesting indeed!

And... that is good news if you are correct.... and you often are!

Thank you for that..... if you could supply any specifics that would be greatly appreciated!

Um, no. Who feeds you such nonsense?

And before you show a deceptive precip vs. melt graph, make sure you also account for the massively increased ice flow into the ocean.

So the glaciers are not retreating afterall. Good to know.

I just flew over the southern tip of Greenland - nothing but snow and ice. Where's the melting ??

Actually....... the idea that the ice flow off the land based Greenland Ice Pack into the ocean was documented quite well over the past few years:

    https://chasingice.com/

    this is interesting too.....

A heat wave is turning Greenland’s ice to slush. That's bad news.
The huge northern ice sheet is in the middle of its second major melt event this year, a warning sign for the planet.

On the plus side if CIA economist Jim Rickards was correct in the statistic that he gave about there being seven hundred and ten trillion dollars in the worldwide Derivatives markets as of twenty fourteen then.......
investing in mega-scale desalination technology would be a good way to divert many trillions in a manner that would be win - win - win - win for the USA and world economy.
