Is the global warming alarmism responsible for the lack of equipment maintenance, lack of tree and bush trimming, and subsequent wild fires & blackouts in California? Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent not on line and equipment maintenance have been spent on wind and solar subsidies which will result in zero reduction in global average temperature in the next centuries. Try explaining that to those who have lost homes, pets, and lives to the recent California wildfires. Those who blame global warming for the fires are actually correct but not in the way they think they are.

If Democrats believed their own propaganda about global warming, they would work harder to maintain the forest not less. Powerlines aren't new, but Democrat environmental policies are. No cutting down dead trees etc.

Nuclear power grid, solar on households. Proper preventative burning. Both problems solved.

With all of the dumb regulations California has, I have to wonder why they allow building a home in fire prone areas. Why the don't cut down trees that are near dead and too close to residential areas. But instead they have expensive construction codes that increase the costs of homes. Allow people to live in their streets and spread disease and have taxes through the roif.

I am not willing to give this State one penny of my Tax Dollars.

We have this funny called property rights, and people who have bought land are allowed to use it. If you want to prevent that, talk to your President is giving away millions of acres to developers to be do developers that will make fires where people and their property is threatened.

Who is this "they" you are demanding cut down trees and dead trees? Are you going to do it? It costs huge money to cut down and clear lands, money few people can afford except for multi millionaires.

What's really funny is you immediately switch into reverse and complain about codes that increase the costs of homes!? Many of those codes are specifically do fire reduction such as use fireproof roofs and structures, use spark arrestor and lightening mitigation, requirements for clear land around homes, and much more!

Yet many are, like you, demanding codes that would allow the fire destruction to be unabated from the dangerous practices of the past.

Yes. California uses prison slave labor for its ground operations when fighting forest fires.

How do you conclude that those inmates in prison for low level crimes who volunteer and are paid by hour are slaves ???

Good point, but if it is the only way to get some time on the other side of the bars there is a coercive element to the use of prison labor.

Because the Democrats in Sacramento still have the welcome mat out at the border.

Keep bringing them in and we'll give you free healthcare, subsidised housing, educate your anchor babies and dreamers for free, give you an EBT card and protect you from ICE.

In California 90% of all wildfires are man caused.

    More people = more wildfires.
    More people = more housing.

The inmates receive benefits including work experience and an argument for early release. They are in prison due to conviction of some crime, They are coerced to remain behind bars but have an opportunity to contribute to society as a form of retribution and for personal gain. I don't see much coercion of the inmates to work outside the prison in this case.

It is very dangerous work. I doubt that many would "volunteer" if they were not in prison.

Participation is voluntary and the inmates learn skills that do lead to employment when released. In California, by the time a worker pays income tax, car tax, gas tax, sales tax. etc, they keep about half of what they make. Since paying taxes isn't voluntary, this makes CA workers 50% slaves.

I was wondering when this was going to be made public that many of us already knew.

Money that used to be used for maintaining the existing electrical infrastructure is now under California's green laws has to be used for going green.

The town of Paradise last year that killed 86 people and burned down the entire town the fire was caused by 100 year old PGE transmission lines that weren't maintained because the money had to be spent on green energy instead.

For the layman, the Democrats in Sacramento own the "Camp Fire" that burned down Paridise just as they own the homeless problem in the state.

They found another cause why so many (96) were killed in Paradise.
They couldn't get out of town fast enough because of green legislation that required the main road into and out of Paradise to be reduced from four lanes to two lanes. The liberals call it "road diet."

Make the traffic worse so people stop driving their cars and start riding bikes or taking public transportation.

The road lanes in Paradise that were taken away were changed into bicycle lanes where nobody rides a bike.

They are actually not on the fire line as fire fighters but only in a support role. Of course being close to a wildfire is dangerous in itself.

More disgusting evidence that progressive policies kill people.

I-5 was planned to be expanded to 6 lanes as well. If you have driven on that free way you know how dangerous it is when trying to pass slow tractor trailer trucks in the slow lane and when they pass each other.

SCE made a net profit of over $1 billion a year from 2011 to 2017. Since they've identified the high risk areas to shut off the power, how about they fix the problem areas with a little of that billion in profit instead of shutting off the power?

Governor Jerry Brown spent eight years blaming every wildfire and earthquake on man caused climate change.
Last week Governor Nesome blamed the current fires in northern and southern California on capitalism.

It's progressives policies and regulations and open borders (overpopulation) that are the real cause.

Yesterday they interviewed the state assemblyman and senator who represent the town of Paradise. They blamed the progressives in Sacramento.

Nobody was allowed before the "Camp Fire" to remove the 8 feet high brush that surrounded the town of
Paradise because the liberal environmentalist demand a environmental impact report before removing the brush.

PGE, SCE can't even remove a tree that is to close to their power lines without conducting a environmental report and spending way to much money for tree removal permits and fees.
And the Progressives will fight against the tree removal every step of the way.
