Things I have noticed getting less. Daddy Long Legs and worms. Used to be so many of both. Now when I see one, particularly a Daddy Long Legs I stop. Anyway National Geographic confirm that insects are in serious decline. cont'd https://www.nationalgeographic.co.u...populations-are-plummeting-and-why-it-matters Put your head in the sands. Think you will be dead before the worst happens and so you can be selfish and leave no planet for today's children...but stop trying to pretend you know more that experts who know what they are talking about.
Agreed. PG&E is controlled by the state. The state government which is overwhelmingly Progressive is responsible for the lack of line & equipment maintenance, brush & tree removal, and new reservoir construction. Instead they force wind and solar spending which will do absolutely nothing to reduce the rate of global warming.
Sweatheart you may believe that people who study and know what they are talking about speak hogwash. You remind me of what my mother told me. He who knows not and knows that the knows not is ignorant, teach him He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep, awaken him He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man, follow him He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a foll, shun him. Any debate with someone who denies reality is impossible. To continue is just to stroke their ego which is all they have.
There is no way that insects are facing extinction due to a temperature increase of 0.03 deg C per year. Wake up.
You really need to read more. Bugs going extinct in 100 years would end civilization but most people equate bugs with pests so that headline doesn't really sell. But the scientific and agricultural community are in panic mode right now. A similar situation is facing the plankton population as well. We're looking at total ecological collapse in 40-50 years is current trends hold and that's not even taking climate change into account. In short, we're currently experiencing a mass extinction event.
California has seen crime rates plummet, has a balanced budget and if they really wanted to make waves could demand a seat at the G7 independent of the US representative because California is the world's #5 economy. All of this under Dem leadership. Meanwhile in Kansas...
Climate change isn't what's killing insects, lack of food, habitat loss and poisons are the driving factor here. Climate change is the issue with the plankton die off (more acidification than temp increases) though. Combined we're looking at the food web collapsing in 40-100 years.
Well, I’m an ag/scientific community guy and I don’t see any panic. And I don’t see bugs/insects as pests even though some I deal with cost me thousands of dollars a year in losses and cost of control/mitigation. Feel free to panic over some crap you read though. I’ll make sure you’re well fed.
That makes California even more crooked. 5th largest economy and no power, no water, high poverty rate, and high homeless rate. It's a **** hole for the average person.
Tell that to the people in San Francisco who have their cars broken into regularly. California has the highest poverty rate in the nation. California has the highest number of homeless people in the nation. In California regular gas is ~ $4 per gallon. California is burning whilst the state turns the power off. In Los Angeles the raw sewage from 60,000 people flows directly into the Pacific Ocean. The middle class is leaving California at a greater number than Okies from the dust bowl came to California in the 30’s. BTW all states crime rates are going down and all states have balanced budgets. Kansas is doing just fine despite the efforts of progressives to spend like drunken sailors.
That’s ridiculous. I thought the work was ending in 12 years. Insects are losing habitat ??? Where ??? Insects don’t have enough to eat ??? Where ??? What poisons ??? Where are the plankton dying off ???
"while utilities have had to redirect capital and ratepayer revenue away from fortifying the grid and tree-trimming." let me fix that for you "while utilities have had to redirect capital and ratepayer revenue away from fortifying the grid and tree-trimming to executive bonuses." PG&E executives should be tried for murder.
Bullshit. PG&E took revenue which was charged for safety fixes and used money to pay millions in bonuses.
I'm sorry, you are claiming that PG&E executives who used funds meant for safety to pay themselves bonuses are socialists? what's wrong with you?
Fannie and Freddie executives also benefited from loans granted to low income earners who couldn’t afford them.
They also directed funds to wind and solar which are a waste of money but contributed to their bonuses. Those funds show have used to maintain lines and equipment.
The problem with blaming PGE excecutives is that in doing so, you need to come up with some course of action thay could have pursued whcih would have led to a better result. PGE were mandated by law to use renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, even though the price of that power is two or three times higher than hydropower. Wind and solar require more infrastructure to ensure no power outages during times when the wind is not blowing or the sun isn't shining, so gas turbines are needed to put power online quickly. When the wholesale price of anything increases, then a business normally raises their rates to pay for their rising costs. Because of the higher costs of wind and solar, which use is mandated by state government, the price of electricity should have doubled to reflect he power company's increased costs. California has utility boards which require approval before any rates can be raised, and on the West Coast, the whole idea that wind and solar raises costs is highly unpopular and politically untenable. So what do the utility companies do? They have to remain financially solvent or they go bankrupt, so they have to save by reducing capital upgrades and maintenance. Could all Californian power lines be put underground if solar and wind energy were not forced upon the power companies? Probably not, the transition to all underground power lines will take decades to accomplish, but at least the process could already be well underway.
