As the wise man once wrote,"The modern feminist movement was started to give unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society." The most discriminated against people in any society, at any time, are the ugly. I would rather be attractive in any race or gender than be a butt ugly anything else. Unfortunately, third wave feminism makes even externally attractive women ugly to the bone. The modern feminist movement strips unattractive women of their last venue for personal beauty.
Very nice. Now go pick up your "male chauvinist pig" button at the exit. We still have a few left over from the 60's.
Good point. I'll chew on that all day. I bet that you persuade a lot of people with well thought out responses like that. Truly kind sir, you're making the world a better place. Keep the wise words flowing. On the other hand, those who read my above post probably won't give it another thought, a chuckle or even share it with a friend. Nope, not my post.
For generations, we've raised the children in our families to marry well. 'Who you going to wind up with acting like that?', is something our daughters heard quite a bit growing up. Something else they heard multiple times a day is, 'the longer you look in that mirror, the uglier you get on the inside, especially if you like what you see.' They're all grown and married with their own families now, and they're already instilling the values in our grandchildren that we instilled in them. All of my son in laws support their families. My daughters are full, full, full time, 24/7 wives, mothers and homemakers. My wife is a matriarch; I call them matriarch apprentices.
Don't suppose you've ever heard the words,"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".Or maybe you just don't understand them??
Well personal insults do garner more attention! But "Can you do my favor, and grab me a button too! I lost my original in 1974" ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯
One of the most influential forces in Boulder Colorado, has been the women's temperance and suffragette movements. Colorado became the first state to give women voting rights, at about the time Boulder was becoming a city. Central to the founders' vision of an Athens of the West, was the establishment the University of Colorado. The first professor they hired was a woman. Begun as a mining town, Boulder, and Boulder county became a dry county prior to prohibition, and didn't allow anything stronger than 3.2 beer until the mid seventies. Boulder has always been a center of feminist philosophy. They even have this weird law that was pushed through by feminists. In the name of equality, any place where it is normal for a man to be shirtless, like in parks, along jogging paths, swimming pools, lakes, basketball courts, and the like, women can also go topless. Thing about Boulder, there is LA pretty and NY pretty, but Boulder beauty beats them all. But then physically active women always look better, same as men, and Boulder is an outdoor physical activity paradise.
If you aren't preoccupied with yourself and can let others talk, they will tell you who they are. Sometimes a beautiful woman becomes ugly with only a few words, and sometimes a very plain one becomes beautiful. Once you tie the personality and character to the looks, the looks represent who they are, not just how they look. Have to be careful to remember that while we are first attracted to the outside, we live with the whole person- and try to avoid the gift-wrapped empty boxes.
I know right? I hate it when guys think they can buy me dinner and expect something in return. I can pay for my own meals thank you very much.
A wise man would have no idea why or how or even when the feminist movement got started. How the eff would he know? Unless he's transgender and was a woman at the time. Your post and this entire thread are dripping with ignorance and misogyny.
Lame response above - The feminist undertone against women as "sex objects" has been way overdone - and often misused. Andrea Dworkin went a far as to claim "all sex is rape". ... that somehow there was always some coercive element in play. The fact of the matter is that both women and men are "sex objects" by nature and in many circumstances want their attractiveness to be noticed. The issue is not nearly as simplistic as you are trying to make it.
The United States, it ideals, logically lead to feminism. After all, feminism, at its core, is about equality, equal rights and freedoms. Things the United States, philosophically, was based upon.
No such "wise man" ever wrote anything of the sort because everyone who is actually wise KNOWS that attraction has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to with appearance. That is an extract from the appearance of Abraham Lincoln! http://presidentialham.com/u-s-presidents/abraham-lincoln-with-ham/ Who someone is as a PERSON is what matters irrespective of their appearance. The shallowness of this thread says VOLUMES!
The trifecta for human beings regardless of success is beauty brains and kindness. Without the third the other two are but force multipliers for nastiness
I may have misspoke as Colorado was the first state to allow women the vote, by voter referendum. The territory of Wyoming was the first, but it wasn't a state yet. I think all of the states from Colorado and Wyoming westward all gave women the right to vote before the 19th amendment was passed. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women's_suffrage_in_states_of_the_United_States#Wyoming
I have hung out with enough different women, that long ago I noticed that certain personality traits, or quirks, are consistent with certain looks. With People's personalities, half they are born with, the other half, a result of their youthful experiences. I first noticed it in fat girls. They all seemed to act in certain ways. Cross that with prettiness of face and you'll see the happy fat girls, tend to have pretty faces while the grumpy, or really shy fat girls tend to be not so pretty. A lot if it has to do with how one is treated as one grows up. Fact of the matter, is cute children grow up facing a different world than ugly children. It becomes more and more pronounced the older one gets. Pretty girls tend to smile a lot because they grew up having people always smile at them. And when they smile back, the feedback is usually positive. Ugly girls don't get that. Same thing applies to boys. It is not just looks, as intelligence plays a similar role. Persons with high intelligence have different personality quirks than persons of low intelligence, and vise versa. It all comes from one's interaction with the world around one.
